The Belle Epoch and the Echorec by Catalinbread are both magic in a box. There are plenty of great delays, but I haven’t found any that inspire me, or absolutely nail the respective sounds they are going for so perfectly. P.S. I do like to have a Carbon Copy on the floor for just great, plain old analog delay sounds as well.

@@ZombifyYourself I don't know the whole story, but I heard that Howard and Catalinbread had some kind of falling out and he's no longer there. It's been a couple years I think. I haven't heard where Howard is now or what he's doing, but Catalinbread is still doing ok.
He has some ingredients that might point to the Jimmy Page sound, probably the one from The Song Remais the Same concert. I think that's what he goes for.
One thing I don't like about the Crybaby style wahs is how bad the actual pedal mechanism is.. have you ever tried a dunlop volume pedal? and then compared it to an Ernie ball volume pedal? it's night and day.
Frank B Yeah my Ernie Ball VP pedal sucked because the string broke in less than 3 months, and that was after I thought I noticed it start crackling anyway. I've had my dunlop volume on my board for 2 years. Gears, no flimsy string.
@@atonofspiders you can replace the string with a metal one.. I know it's more likely to break than gears but the action is so much smoother. the range of motion is also better... I am aware that wah pots usually have different knurls on their gear so a string pulley action might not be good enough for the purists.
The Belle Epoch Deluxe is great, except for the lack of a tap tempo (and for that sort of price, maybe MIDI too). It drove me so nuts I ended up selling mine.
He's a great player and knows gear, but this list only shows how subjective one's favorite pedals are. It depends on what sound you are going for, your amp selection, how you play, what kind of music are you playing, etc. I'm sure Andy would agree.

I shit canned my wah wah decades ago. I just wasn't using it anymore. My favorite fuzz that I still own is a Top Fuel from Skreddy. You can't beat the original Carbon Copy for delay, still have one of those. My board right now is pretty scaled down after 37 years of playing: Top Fuel, Saucy Box, a Boss digital delay from the 80's (for U2 stuff), a Carbon Copy, a Boss Compressor from the 80's (the one Gilmour used) and a Blue Hippo Chorus. I seem to get all the sounds I need from these few.
The modern version of the old "Dick and Jane" primers. "See Andy. See Andy play. See Andy play cool riffs on great gear. Play Andy, play." See me click.
