  • The aim of this webinar is to introduce the PAOLA project (PAndora bOx of whistLeblowing in Academia), an initiative supported by Erasmus+ that aims to enhance awareness regarding the reporting of unethical behavior within European academic circles. The project's primary objective is to establish an observatory informed by existing research on whistleblowing in academia, along with pertinent legal frameworks across Europe, including topics such as bullying in academic environments. These efforts align with the promotion of inclusive higher education systems and fostering civic engagement. Importantly, the project also addresses the European Directive on Whistleblowing and its implications for academic institutions, which will be explored in this presentation. The European Directive of Whistleblowing underscores the importance of providing safe channels for reporting unethical behavior and protecting whistleblowers from retaliation. By incorporating the principles of this directive into Project PAOLA individuals within academic communities will be empowered to speak up against wrongdoing while ensuring their rights and safety.
