Such an underrated band!!
Yes 100% 🤘🏻🔥
Yaya boy
I conquer Finn totally
Deathcore band for HXC lover
Brutal video bro,we need a As Blood Runs Black video too❤
Thank you !! They're on my list 🤘🏻🔥
Well.. if the intro in dying days can detail how my fears have become phobias, Hester Prynne's pouring reign would illustrate the brighter side of suffering. The beautiful mistake, in strife, beneath the surface... is that Legends... never die...

My old band played with Suffokate back in the day, and my parents came to that show. My mom wanted to "fit in" and stole one of my Black My Heart hoodies to wear for the night and Ricky walked by at one point, said "awesome hoodie" and high fived her haha. Miss these days brother
haha such a great story ! Thanks for sharing
Black My Heart was such a banger of a band. Criminally underrated.
Blessed to have seen suffokate with despised, ion dissonance and beneath the massacre in my very small hometown on my birthday even, i still cherish this day many many years after
I’m tuning into your new videos like a tv show lmfao. These are truly sick
That's so cool man !! Thank you 🤘🏻🔥
Me too. Only dude with a music channel that will keep me watching or interested for the entire show. Seems like a genuinly solid dude as well
I second this~
Impending Doom and i declare war definitely need a video on your channel.
Some of the best heavy hitters there was back then.
Both on my list brother
Impending Doom is a phenomenal shout
Impending Doom is still playing and releasing music. Their bassist is a good homie of mine.
Watching these videos about late 2000s deathcore bands feels like a nostalgic journey back to my youth. The music, the scene, the memories - they all come rushing back and provide such comfort. It's amazing how these bands shaped our upbringings and left a lasting impact. Grateful for these videos that keep the spirit of that era alive.
It’s the biggest compliment!! I’m so glad my videos can bring you back in time , give you comfort and keep this amazing era alive 🤘🏻🔥
please don't stop the awesome thing you have going on this channel bro 🖤
Thanks man ! I won't stop , there's already a video coming out on sunday and I'm curently working on the one after that 🤘🏻🔥
Return to Despair is one of the most meaningful albums to me, Suffokate was amazing
The entire album has gotten me through some of the bleakest points in my life. The writing, the sound, everything. I’m glad you share a similar sentiment.
love suffokate and how they incorporated more of the hardcore sound in their music
same 🤘🏻🔥
I used to have a promotional company called Eviscerated Entertainment. I did those shows with them early on. Those days were amazing and will always be in my heart. Suffokate, Gunmetal Grey and Omissa were my favorites back then. I miss these experiences. We are all old now lol
Thank you so much for doing a video on Suffokate! I remember listening to some of their songs, all the way back to when I was 13.. They helped serve as a major gateway to deathcore for me. I'm quite shocked that more people don't talk about them actually, soo underrated!
Brutal! I need a Knights of the abyss or I declare war video too
On my list ! 🤘🏻🔥
Second knights of the abyss
Oh man I love this channel! Recognize (CA), Monsters, ABACABB, Molotov Solution, Goliath, Seditionist, Every Hand Betrayed (I’m the original bass player 2009-2012) would be sick!
Thank you !! Most of them are on my list 🤘🏻🔥
Broooo ABACABB and molotov solution
Monsters was incredible too bro, you’re cool asf I’ve been wanting to make a throwback myspacecore band, janky bedroom production with all the visuals amd the attitude of those days it would be so sick
@@krikbre bro you are speaking my language that would be sick!! Just turned 33 myself and I swear 2009 felt like yesterday 😭
Goliath 🔥
ever hear of a band named Recon? Try them next. they wernt that big but they certainly had a big influence on me and my crew of scene beans
RECON. 🔥
Man I listened to Welcome To Viper City for the first time in years today. Forgot how DISGUSTINGLY heavy it was
@@Gammaknife97 Dude remember when that shit came out? at that time they were heavier than 99% of the bands in that era. Even though they only had that one album. That band influenced the sounds we hear today...
@@weareallbetteroffdea INDEED 🔥
After you said “return to despair” and played the clip, I teared up bro. That album had saved my life countless times.
Brooo your enthusiasm and just how you talk about these bands makes me so happy. Being from Norway and constantly flying to germany to go to hardcore/metalcore/deathcore shows takes me back so bad, getting club mate before the show was a ritual
Thanks man , I'm very glad my videos can bring you joy and memories ! 🤘🏻🔥
Didn’t know how bad I needed these videos until I watched a couple. What a fantastic time to be alive. Hard to imagine anyone obsessing over music as much as I did during this era. Easily one of the best live performances I had seen. First Blood had a similar style and was absolutely perfect live. Keep going these videos are great!
Thank you for doing all the research so you could do this video. It was solid aF and a lot of fun to watch!
Thank you so much !! To be fair, I had a lot of fun doing it 🤘🏻🔥
DUDE I’m loving these videos. I was just a kid during this time and I always wanted the history of the music I love. Keep it up
thanks man !! I'm glad you enjoyed 🤘🏻🔥
Maaaan, i’ve been waiting for this one. Stretched my ears relatively big because of Ricky back in the day and still to this day when I play Team Deathmatch on whatever game Slaughter your Enemies starts to play in my head. You keep delivering man !
Awesome !! Thanks a lot man 🤘🏻
men this type of videos are truly amazing, please never stop uploading
Hey thank you so much ! Don’t worry there’s a new video scheduled for Sunday and I’m already working on the one after 🤘🏻🔥
man you're touching on something really special with this channel. Thank you for loving the scene as much as the rest of us! also Knights of the Abyss would be a great pick.
Thank you for your kind words, I really love working on it , and thanks for the suggestions 🤘🏻
In Jr. High, a friend and I organized a show at a church so our band could open for Suffokate and Suicide Silence. It was 2005 and there was what some might call a huge gang fight outside while Suffokate played. Best show ever.
I second that we NEED and As Blood Runs Black video my dude! I've recently been on a MySpace era deathcore kick all over again and your videos coincided with that perfectly lol keep it up bruh
Thank you for the video brother , I saw this for Christmas . So that's a nice gift lol
Man 1st thing 1st, great video!! Took me back! Loved suffokate! I used to live in Colorado Springs Co and every time they came in they used to crash at my apartment. So many cool stories with these dudes! I still jam to their shit daily. Thanks again dude
This has become my new favorite channel. Keep up the good work! Brings me back to the good old days in corona ca at the showcase theatre. Final burden. Emmure. Elysia. Suicide Silence.
Agreed....
Thank you so much, it's still unreal to be the favorite channel of someone but it's amazing 🤘🏻🔥
@@xtheyan Watching your channel is like hanging out with a buddy talking about shows and bands we love
By far my favorite UA-camr atm...these vids are well put together and love the deep dive into each bands history..hope you do whitechapel and shadow of intent🤌 great video as always man
Thank you so much man ! Still hard to believe I can already be a “favorite UA-camr” , it’s such a great feeling and I appreciate the kind words.. I’ll do Whitechapel for sure and shadow will be on my list in the future 🤘🏻🔥
let's gooooo! also, Silence and Chelsea Grin are playing here in October and i am there. Gonna be a great nostalgia trip. i forgot about this band until you posted this vid, though. Playlisting the hell out of em now. 😎
This channel is a real gem! Ricky cut my hair before my wedding so I’d be ready for the photos! He’s an awesome dude
Thanks man !! And yes he’s a great dude 🤘🏻🔥
Love your vids, already so much better production in the videos after just the first few
Thanks man ! It's awesome that you noticed
I’ve been watching the vids for a while, and I really enjoy them! It’s cool hearing the stories and lore behind how they got to be! A couple of bands I would like to see on here is I Declare War and Whitechapel. Keep up with the good work!!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed !! and they're both on my list 🤘🏻🔥
@@xtheyan can’t wait to see them!
finally suffokate!! I have not even seen the video and I already gave it a like, thanks !!!!
Thanks man !! Hope you'll enjoy 🤘🏻🔥
Awesome video dude! Would love an after the burial or Carnifex video at some point as well!
i never leave comments but keep up these videos man. this has been great to watch growing up in the scene and even forgetting about some bands that were amazing but havent crossed my mind since.
elysia would be interesting too, but i know you probably have a million requests
Thank you for taking the time to comment, truly means a lot to me ! And Elysia is the most requested band I think 🤘🏻🔥
Glad I've stumbled upon your channel. Solid content dude, keep it coming!
Thank you so much man ! 🤘🏻🔥
Awesome video, man! So much good footage here. Easy sub 💯
I just discovered your channel and I'm already hooked, the Oceano video was amazing to watch and now this one, Suffokate is a band that has been present in my life for a solid 12 years, as much as I love No mercy, No forgiveness, Return to despair it's my number one album from them, and now that I'm 30 and went trough lots of shit, it hits even closer, My darkened eyes, and Let the water rise are by far the songs that I enjoy the most, BUT the whole album, once it starts, I will never skip a single song, and by the time Dissolving hits, all I want is to replay the whole album again haha, and seeing Ricky coming back with the amazing Ov Sulfur, it's like watching your childhood hero make a glamorous return.
Thanks man ! I’m glad I can remind you of great memories 🤘🏻🔥
Thank you for putting me onto this band, I been looking for some deathcore with that raw oldschool sound.
That's awesome !! 🤘🏻🔥
BROO! YESSS!! I had a feeling this was gonna be the next video man. HUGE part of my childhood.
Keep it up with the videos man, this channel is gonna be huge.
And I love how you pronounce certain things with your accent, it's one of the things that seperates you from the rest.
Much love brother, keep up the work, you're gonna do big things here
That's so kind man , I really appreciate it! And yes I don't like my accent but people seem okay with it haha
badass videos bro, rly taking me back, shoutout from Tampa, FL
Thanks man !! 😈🤘🏻🔥
great video!
" No Mercy, No Forgiveness" is so amazing...I think, maybe 2009-2011 was the greatest time for Deathcore. The best albums were released, the production was good but still raw enough to be exciting...great, nostalgic times
Thanks man !! And yes, an amazing era 🤘🏻
Went to their concert in Moscow in 2011 and it got me pumped for the whole next year! Great band
Thank you again for another banger and trip back in time
That's awesome !! thank you 🤘🏻🔥
I had, correction still have the biggest crush on him, those vocals are INSANE! ❤
Damn what an amazing episode ! 🙌🏻💯
Thanks man 🤘🏻🔥
Been watching all of the videos. You're doing such good work and I agree, just take me back to 2006.
Hey thanks a lot man ! 🤘🏻🔥
Fucking fantastic seeing he bulked up and looks like an actual man now holy shit legend. The skies were filled with fire was my shit back in high-school played it 100 times
Awesome!!! Keep ‘em coming!
Thanks 😈🤘🏻
Force fed and not the fallen are such goddamn classics, they never get old
100% 🤘🏻🔥
First video of yours I've watched. Can't wait to watch your other videos.
Thank you so much man 🤘🏻🔥
The music video for slaughter your enemies basically got me into beat down
😈🤘🏻🔥
Is that the one where the kid crowd kills everyone in a basement with green lighting?
Loving the content and keep being it 🤘🏻💀🤘🏻 loved loved this band and one of the few bands in my life I never saw live that I wanted too :/ I’ve seen Ricky’s new band and it’s really good but it’s to death metal sounding for me, I need some core in my music lol
Thank you ! 🤘🏻🔥 And yes Suffokate was very raw and old school
Love the videos man! Now to add suffokate to my rotation
Oh shit I didn’t realise he was in ov Sulfur that band rips
Thank you !! And yes, Ov Sulvur is a great band
love the videos man
Thank you!! 🤘🏻😈🔥
Suffokate paved the way for so many. Love this ❤
😈🤘🏻🔥
Its so fun to watch your videos and learn more about these old deathcore bands (or heavy metal bands😂)
haha thanks man 🤘🏻🔥
i suggested this on your last vid and I'm very excited 😂🤘🏻
it's going to suck when this channel blows up and you can't communicate with everyone so easily, but its going to be a good problem to have. 🤘🏻
haha thank you for believing in my channel I really appreciate man !! I'll try responding and chatting with you guys for as long as I can 🤘🏻🔥

I remember listening to that oakland album sophmore year of hs lol good times! great vid man!
Thanks man ! 🤘🏻🔥
Thankyou for this one
I really had to it 🤘🏻🔥
I remember seeing these guys in 2011 right before ricky left at The Red House in Walnut Creek. Ricky was nuts, band was nuts. I will never forget that they headlined with a bunch of little local bands. Was a sight to see. Wish i had the tee i bought off ricky. My dumb 18 yr old self lost it...
Ricky is one of my heros as well, I loved his image back in suffokate. I got to see Ov Sulfur and take a picture with the band and just shoot the shit with them for a bit. Nicest dudes! It was super aweesome meeting them all and I just told Rickey how stoked I was he's back in music cuz I never got to see him previously and he just go so happy
Yes , Ricky is much happier now and the guys in Ov Sulfur are very good dudes 🤘🏻🔥
Man I love Suffokate
😈🤘🏻🔥
This videos are pure history, the good old days ❤️🔥
Thanks !! I love this era so much 🤘🏻
I did guest vocals at a show with Ricky nobody showed up for it was the coolest I didn’t care there was like 12 or so people there
been on this channel since the beginning 🖤🖤i love these videos so much
Thank you so much !! You have no idea how much it means to me 🤘🏻🔥
Totally remember these guys from the MySpace days. They were so hard.
Structures / Beheading the king MySpace videos please! Haha … these videos bring me back to my MySpace hardcore/ Deathcore days in Toronto / Montreal.
Both on my list !! And that's awesome, I'm from Canada too
This band is AMAZING wish they released more.
Yes same man ! 🤘🏻
killer video as always
Thank you 😈🤘🏻🔥
thank for this video, Suffokate is my favorrite band too.
😈🤘🏻🔥
They were so good! Just listened to Oakland last week and got a great dose of nostalgia.
Loving these videos .
I was kind of hoping you were going to talk about when after Ricky left they held auditions for a new vocalist and a dude from my hometown in Sk Canada of all places got the part and then apparently bailed on them the day of their first comeback show
Oh sorry man I didn't know that !! I saw the audition videos but since they never really picked a new singer , I didn't include it in
@@xtheyan that’s the wild thing! They did! They had like a promo shoot with him and everything , I’ll DM you the metal sucks article i feel really bad for the band it’s a shame they disbanded shortly after
God I loved Suffokate back in the day. Dude YAN you and I would have been best friends in school 😂😂
Love your videos man I played drums in a local Deathcore Band in 08. I wish myspace wasn't deleting ny bands demo iw Gone but I do have a old demo.. ANYWAY PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ON ROSE FUNERAL...also WITH BLOOD COMES CLEANSING!!
Crazy story! I saw OV SULFUR on tour with AS I LAY DYING in 2022 here in El Paso, Texas and Ricky Hoover suffered a medical emergency during their second song on stage. I’m a firefighter/EMT, and I jumped on stage to assist him and told his band mates he needed to go to the hospital. Band members were able to get him seen by the EPFD!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼 SUFFOKATE forever 🤘🏼🤘🏼
You’re the coolest person on UA-cam! I also pm you with some great underground MySpace deathcore you may have missed by the way. Thanks!
Thank you man!! And cool I'll check
Surprised you didn’t get into fitness like Ricky, seeing as you like following in his footsteps😆
Holy cow! You just unlocked a part in my memory with this band haha good stuff!
haha awesome man 🤘🏻🔥
Underrated band. Met Ricky when Suffokate supported The Ghost Inside on the Returners UK Tour in 2010. Absolute gent. Been good to see him back at it with Ov Sulfur.
Glad Ricky Hoover returned with his new band "Ov Sulfur". Although I wouldn't mind Suffokate to have a reunion.
I bought plugs from him and his dad and still have them. It was kind of hard to find good jewelry in sizes 1.5+ back then so them doing that was nice. I have since sewn my ears up though. Thank you so much for this video ( and all your videos ) it brings me back to some memories I thought I had forgotten
I never got to see them live, but i love them in HS a lot
Iam 40 years old and grew up with old school Deathmetal and later than Deathcore. So your Channel is very interesting for me. I would be very happy about videos and Information about Deathmetal Bands like Obituary ,Deicide, Cryptopsy, Dying Fetus ,Immolation and so...all the best to you and greetings from Germany.
Imagine going to a show where the lineup is as follows…..waking the cadaver opening, suffokate, WHITECHAPEL, and suicide silence (with Mitch) that’s my dream lol
Suffokate was so so sick. Youre so right about not skipping a song on NMNF, top 10 album for me all time. Ricky is a legend
Hung out with Ricky Hoover on a number of occasions during those days. He was always really nice. Even kept in touch with him for a short while after he left the band (myspace days... maybe early Facebook) and he was always really cool, never had that "haha youre my fan and I have the power here" attitude. Goddamn do I miss suffokate. Saw them for the first time when they opened for Dying Fetus. I was hooked instantly.
Awesome video! You should do one on Rose Funeral.
Yeah man! I miss this band so much! One of my life's biggest mistakes was to not go to their concert in Örebro, Sweden when they visited around 2011-2012. The only pathetic reason I can come up with, to why I didn't go is pretty much that I didn't know anyone else who wanted to go, I had never been to Örebro, and I only had a Chevy El Camino from 72 with all around tires and it was in February or something. Still I regret this as F%CK! Nowadays I'm pretty used to go to concerts and festivals by myself, but back in 2011 I hadn't realized I was a lone-wolf yet.
Regarding Ricky leaving the band, it was devastating for me as well, I'm not really into the music without him. I've also worked as a professional piercer for about 15 years and did a lot more extreme body-mods and related stuff like body suspensions so I really felt a connection to Ricky because of that. I never really stretched my ears any big and usually think it was a bit mainstream unless you go like Ricky, Go Big or Go Home! Just like Muffe in Denmark who has 66,6 mm in his ears =)
I didn't know he was in "Of Sulphur", but I have seen the name around. I don't recognize him at all, lol
Will check them out!
PLEASE! Make a video about Molotov Solution & Signal The Firing Squad, that's two other bands I miss a lot! I was fortunate enough to be able to get a hold of one of Molotov Solution's early albums which was only made in 800 ex. I think it was Insurrection. And now when I think about it, it looks just like the style of the Suffokate - Return to Despair album cover!
Perfect example of actual Deathcore
I agree
I'd fucking love to see you make a video about The Black Dahlia Murder. I know they're not deathcore, but with trevor passing and how much of a legacy he and that band left behind, I'd enjoy hearing what you think of them
I will for sure !
@@xtheyan I love your videos dude! I found your channel a few days ago and I've been watching them a lot. I can't wait for that! 🤘
Oakland was the bees' knees! Loved that record.
I'm glad I'm not the only person to love Suffokate like this \m/ Awesome video man, we got the same Presonus monitors btw too ha badass speakers for $100
hell yeah !! and yes haha great speakers , It's perfect for my home studio 🤘🏻🔥
another banger big man
Thanks man !! 🤘🏻🔥
Another banger of a band!!! I Love Suffokate and such an amazing influence they had on the scene!!!
1. You answered my question that being "Are you planning on doing a Suicide Silence video?"
2. You made me come to the realization that Ov Sulfur is Ricky's new band and i've never really looked up the members but knew that the band was good. I have seen pictures of Ov Sulfur and didn't realize that was Ricky at all LOL
3. Loving this content so much it's very refreshing knowing that someone is dedicated on sharing the grand fathers of Deathcore as a whole!
Thank you so much for your kind words , I really means a lot ! And I'm really glad you enjoyed 🤘🏻
My most favorite early deathcore band! Sort of the pantera of that genre to me
Hell yeah I love Suffokate. Great band all eras.
100% 🤘🏻🔥
Love the band so much I got a tattoo of the lyrics and hold onto a Oakland shirt from the first time I saw them.
That's so cool !! 😈🤘🏻
I seen him recently in a very small bar,he had a huge stage presence, the whole band was great.he signed my vinyl.great guy
Thats so cool man ! 🤘🏻🔥
That would've been with his new band Ov Sulphur. Super great band. Ricky came back into the scene perfectly
@JackieChannibal it was I talked to the guitar player for a long time too,I had just seen him with worm sheaperd
my brother put me onto suffokate earlier this year, and i saw Ov sulfur with Chelsea grin and after the show i was buying a flag from them, and Ricky was slingin merch, and i got a picture with him, and when i told him about how my brother put me onto suffokate his face lit up instantly. He was so happy and we sat there for a good 20 minutes chatting it up about music and the scene. Such a great guy.
