Fun fact, when they came up to Alaska in 2010 they played about 4-5 songs till they broke the entire stage on a breakdown. That was it! Didn't see them again till a couple months ago in Sacramento.
This Is Exile was the first album I ever listened to by Whitechapel back in high school. Possession was the song that opened the gates for me, so it'll always hold a special place sentimentally for me. I still listen to all albums to this day because Whitechapel is top of the chain for me 🤘🏻 Phil Bozeman is hands down the best vocalist in my book 🔥
Whitechapel are the goats hearing Vicer Exciser when I was 13 changed my whole concept of reality lol. Months later my friend would get his massive gauge ripped out of his ear at there Orlando Fl show lolol I miss these days
Phil is such a fucking good vocalist, it's crazy. Whitechapel overall brings the perfect balance of deathmetal and hardcore. As a die hard DF fan and how great they are at blending brutal deathmetal and hardcore, whitechapel reminds me of that but for deathcore.
Brandon cagle is their front of house engineer. Has been their main guy for many years and always makes them sound insane live. Still a very big part of Whitechapel.
I’ve been having a rough time lately, and I stumbled across these videos today. Really helped lift my spirits! Thank you. All the love from here in Nebraska.
That’s the best thing you could ever tell me .. I’m so glad I could make you feel a little better !! Feel free to join our discord and hang out with us too🤘🏻🔥
🤘🏻 Bro I'm from Knoxville Tennessee I'm 48 and Iv have seen a lot of death metal here but Whitechapel back in the day was brutal especially the hometown shows keep up the awesome content 🤘🏻🖤
I have always loved Whitechapel, they're definitely a nostalgic band to me now. Memories of hanging out with my goofy friends as a teenager and driving around listening to Whitechapel together flood my mind when I hear them. I actually ran into Phil on Diablo 3 in 2019, he invited my friends and I to a party in game and added us to his discord server, then proceeded to carry us through GR 110s for about 4 hours and it was one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me. Who wouldn't be stoked to game with their favorite vocalist? 🤘
I remember the 1st time i saw them they had just released their 1st album. It was crazy 3 guitarist plus a bass player, also the deepest bass drops ive ever heard. I was hooked immediately.
These guys are the hometown heroes where I live in the Knoxville area, and I remember finding them in 2012 after I found Suicide Silence and from then on I was obsessed with with Chapel and anything they did. Then, finding out they were from the area I grew up just blew my mind, and ended up supporting everything they did! I have seen like 6 or 7 times now, and one of my best friends was at target in Knoxville seen Phil and he played some of Our Endless War early for him because he had time to kill! I genuinely don’t give a single fuck what anyone says about these guys they are legends, and make me damn proud to be where I’m from!!
This Is Exile will always be the best deathcore album ever to me. Perfect balance of technicality, groove, caveman riffs and epic atmosphere. The Cleansing is really close but nothing matches the epic feel this is exile to me.
The cleansing was recorded for free in a friend's garage so yah by default the sound quality by itself would be better and SS didn't have a producer to help them with it they pretty much had him JUST record it.
@@justinbowen1183 the production of the Cleansing, to me, is the best in all of Deathcore. You can hear that it was recorded live, all musicians in the room. it has an intensity that most Deathcore, especially nowadays, simply lacks imho

I saw them a few weeks ago in Paris with Thy Art, Fit For An Autopsy and Spite. They ended the show with "This Is Exile". It was brutal, but I wanted to hear more "old school" songs on stage !
I have the chance to catch Whitechapel from their debut Australian tour back in 2009, Phil is definitely a really chilled dude to chat with after the show
I saw them at warped tour, I don’t think any other band that day had the same crowd or performance. They absolutely killed it! Also valley and kin aren’t deathcore per se but as far as metal albums those might be some of the greatest music to have come out imo.
I'm sure someone has mentioned it already but Brandon Cagle is their sound guy for most if not all their shows. He's still a pivotal member of the band
I love that this channel is exactly the kind of content I've been wanting to watch, now if you start doing things on death metal bands and related genres too that would be nuts.
I started listening to them as a joke. A friend showed them to me because he misheard lyrics. A couple of lines into the song "The Darkest Day of Man" he says "with the time and preparation" and it sounds like "with the Dr Pepper retard". You can't unhear it hahahaha. That was in 2010 and I've been listening ever since.
Phil bozeman is so damn great, he has multiple generations of people doing low gutterals. The beginning to the somatic defilement is the birth place to deathcore vocalists doing low gutterals. Such a great album. Let's be honest, we all tried to do the beginning gutteral to the somatic defilement LOL. This is exile is amazing too. The iconic "This world is ours" line still gives me goosebumps to this day. People in the deathcore community should be giving this man props for popularizing and shaping deathcore today vocal wise.
White chapel is definitely a top favorite. Looking forward towards your next video man! I’m sure you’ve heard of the band “Animosity” hope to see a MySpace era video on them soon🤘
Man, I literally love your channel. I was in my teens during the MySpace band explosion. Norma Jean, Whitechapel, Number 12, Thursday, Sky Eats Airplane, Sawtooth Grin...just so many amazing bands during that time.
I super relate to this. I did the exact same thing, fell into stuff like The Faceless, found Protest the Hero and so many bands that I still listen to now. I'm actually seeing Protest next week for the first time. I saw Norma Jean a few times, but the best was the tour with the Chariot and Scogin came out to perform Memphis with them. I would sit for hours and just find new music to listen to on MySpace and show my friends. Such good memories from that time.@@CheapSushi
Absolutely. Stoked to follow along and see what you do next. Keep it up! Have you seen many of these bands live? I've seen most of them, I think my favorite shows were All Shall Perish, See You Next Tuesday, and I got to see Necrophagist play with Beneath the Massacre and Dying fetus in '08-'09. So many awesome memories seeing these bands. @@xtheyan
Whitechapel is my reason for the love of deathcore. I discovered them in middle school when they released the somatic defilement. I have followed them since. In my part of nc shows were hard to find. In 2016 I drove 4 hours to see them play this is exile in full. My first time getting in a pit. I will forever cherish that memory.
This Is Exile is still so special. I remeber the first time hearing it, thinking " they finally combined the heaviness of the genre with well structured, catchy songs"
I don’t know, if someone already mentioned that, but a fun fact about their original guitar player Brandon - he got involved in tour managing/sound providing on tour, I believe mainly for Whitechapel, so he still got to go on tour and live that lifestyle and be around music every single day. Alex Wade talked about it on an interview they did some years back. So happy for him!
Saw This band live for the 2nd time last Sunday! They are still really amazing live, arguably even better than they’ve ever been, Phil’s screams are insane!
fun fact: according to an interview with Rock Hard magazine, Whitechapel tried to emulated the Black Metal classic " in the nightside eclipse" on This Is Exile
I really appreciate your content. It takes me back. I think you'll blow up in this niche along with your peers ala cozy representative & the punk rock mba. Keep it up and I will keep tuning in! I hope to see one on early parkway drive !

great video, I think u just missed talking about the collaborations in a new era of corruption, because they are just absolutely great and some have interesting backgrounds
17:01 from an elder deathcore head lol. I loved/hated seeing Whitechapel or suicidesilence play with Canibal corpse or Aborted and any Death Metal bands. I absolutely loved them separately but the fans of each are drastically different. WC would take the stage and the younger ones like me would want to hardcore dance. and the Old ass gatekeepers that were there to see Aborted or Cannibal would start fights or throw people outta the pit. Even make fun blockades so you couldn’t have fun. You can totally see it in the 2008 live sections of your videos. Look at all the dudes dead still, arms crossed looking absolutely miserable. It was so frustrating until WC started headlining or Summer Slaughter tour would come through.
Whitechapel is my favorite deathcore band of all time, with Suicide Silence being just a hair behind them. It all comes down to Phil for me personally, Mitch without a doubt has the best highs in deathcore history. But Phil is just so well rounded, solid highs, great mids and in my opinion the best lows in the genre. I know we're talking about the MySpace era here, but I still have to mention that the dude can actually sing pretty damn good too. Being able to make cleans fit in so well on a deathcore album probably isn't the easiest thing in the world. Anyway...
