Spent a lot of his later career getting balls hoofed up to him most of the time as well, which was absolutely not his game (never complained though, real team player). Right into feet, maybe just ahead, is when you saw the best of him. That campaign in 06/07 when he just couldn't stop scoring in the CL, he was just imperious, limbs everywhere, carnage. Just didn't "look" as elegant doing things as smaller players, so didn't get the credit. Far more than a cult hero at Liverpool, we genuinely rated him. Reckon we'd have won another CL if Rafa had played him in the final and went aggressive.
That's exactly it. Was out for ages, had to completely change his game once injuries took their toll, and still produced. Defences were much tougher in that era as well. Fowler was, imho, the most natural finisher the English game produced, but Shearer was the most complete pure striker and the sustained performance even when he lost athletic advantage is unparalleled. Kane could "beat" his tally and I still wouldn't change my mind.
@@paulie-g Correct the most complete English centre forward, strong, aggressive, excellent leap for his size, Kane may eventually pass to 260, but Shewrer will always be the best.
@@davidhoward5392 Don't think Kane will do it personally, but regardless - Shearer will always be the template for a traditional English 9 at its best. You've rightly picked out aggression - Shearer had that cutting edge to him, constantly, always on.
@@paulie-g We wait and see, if he stays a Spurs probably not, but Shearer will always be the main man just as the original Ronaldo will always be the best no matter CR7 does
Fun Fact: That kitchen in Shearers is from the 1909 range PWS do. I probably sanded it. You can all sleep better at night knowing that, feel free to inform sky sports news
Spotify, not a video though. Noy gonna lie not even sure this channel is legit I've never seen this before but have mo idea where they'd get the footage from of it wasn't legit. But yeah I use Spotify
Big respect to Kane but nobody I know who saw both play would say he's better than Shearer, whatever the goal tally or goal ratio ends up being. The game was more defensive and nasty back then. Shearer had a highly developed elbow technique which he deployed liberally as a consequence. A master of the yellow card without getting a second yellow. Could get others sent off. So many assets to Shearer's play. Would definitely have put that penalty against France into the top left hand corner at light speed. Will always be my original football idol.
As a kid in the 1990s, Shearer scored so much that I was so tired of seeing his surname on TV everytime he scored "Goal: Shearer" this and that. But shoutouts to him though
Shearer was fantastic!
People forget Shearer broke his leg twice and scored about 20 odd goals in the old first division. Proper player.
He was in the relegation battle a few times too. Did not get the same service as the other big name strikers, for quite a few seasons.
Exactly. As a burnley fan I can't stand what he did for rovers but I admire his elite mentality to change the way he played and still bag
He didn't break his leg twice he done the cruciate ligaments in his knee twice
Broke leg, ankle was very bad injurie and ACL too so goal record is ridiculous
Great words from big Al I can only echo them crouchy was criminally underrated. He was technically brilliant

3 serious injuries and still 260... phenomenonal

Nobody else shit themselves at 7:31 when a little head peers round the window whilst Chris is talking!
No.
Im a burnley fan, but you have admire shearer he had to change his style of play after his injuries and still scored goals. Bastard
Great questions! Keep it up
Brilliant chat!!
What a ledge big Al is, ⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️
Shearer will be happy knowing kanes gone to Germany😂
11:24 I was at that game! In the away end and chanting “There’s only one Rodney Trotter” at Crouchy! 😂

Thank you for your selfless work haha
It’s amazing that so someone like shearer would speak to a famous footballer just coz he’s tall!
Where can I find the fully podcast to listen to please

Was on iPlayer or BBC sounds.
Peter mate. I can make a better dancing animation on the intro. Hire me xD
Shearer missed 2 seasons through injury as well.

Bobby Firmino is not selfish and he’s a great, great goal scorer
And the goals scored before the premiership started.
Check your facts. His 260 goals are all Prem League goals. He scored goals prior to this as well.
@@mankydave67 exactly my point
283 including them before

I seem to remember a couple of years when every England goal was scored by David Platt.
Shearer's record will be safe for a while..can't see kane scoring that amount at the moment
With Harry's game not really requiring a lot of pace he could play till his mid 30s scoring goals
@@h92-w5w probably could but he's not going to score that many goals
He’s no Harry Kane
Old rubber head he could score with his mickey
Shearer was a great player but wish he had the bollox to take the next step. He had to be the big man in a small town, just had little balls!!
Not at all . He loved his home club and gave his all . Statues were erected . At Man U he’d have just been the next no9
