Love the slightly angry (yet loveable) Aussie! Great advice and guidance, I shall be swinging by your store during holidays to learn about the short roller guns for Victorian waters!
thanks for the informative review. I've been out of spearfishing for 20 years, so the roller gun is new to me.The inverted roller makes a lot of sense in providing more bang per inch of barrel, but as you said, it's a bit messy. This concept of an open muzzle top is also new to me, but once again, I like the clear view it provides. Have you measured the power the gun puts out? I built my first "Man's Gun" in 1969. I fitted a Bazooka Handle & muzzle to a 4' long X 1& 1/4" diameter ally barrel, & powered it with two 28" X 9/16" rubbers. These were each stretched 4' & delivered 90lbs, so I calculated my gun put out 720 ft/lbs. I would be interested to know what the Bully Gun's stats are. I used 1 & 1/4" barrel because these rubbers on my old 1" barrel visibly bent it under load. Two unplanned benefits of the bigger barrel were more bouyancy making the gun lighter in the water, & the increased diameter meant the spear lay directly on the barrel, which made my gun very accurate.
Don't know if you ever got a reply to this... HELL OF A GUN YOU BUILT THERE! Chris coats has a pretty detailed power chart for rollers on his website. Check it out if you're still interested. Have fun hunting those whales and submarines with that monster you built. Cheers from Trinidad and Tobago.
I like a 2.5 meter spear but for caves its a bit bulky go with a 1.8 -2m a flopper tip hits harder and hold fish better as long as there isnt a rock right behind the fish which probably wont happen in a cave
Fusion: its like a simple roller gun, it just 'replaces' the section of rubber traveling thru the rollers on the muzzle, by a rope. Invert: rubbers stay at the bottom of the gun. Added pulleys multiply the propulsion force to the shaft.
Hello there, I love your video, very interesting for me. How long take time for get experience hunting myself. I have scuba diving certificate, but I've done not a lot dives. I prefer snorkeling.
please check before that you can hunt with scuba equipment in your location most of the world have banned spearfishing with scuba most recreational spearfishers learn to breathhold or do freediving training also some advice to start with a polespear before buying a short speargun as the next step and do shore spearfishing
Never thought about that. I guess is not needed. The question is why ET are used. Usually to guide the shaft when using LOTS of power so it is 'guided' when fired to make the shot more accurate. On a roller I don not see the benefit honestly. There is very little recoil on rollers as the shaft flies in one directions, and the rubbers on the bottom retract into the opposite direction.
The direction in which the rubber is stretched has absolutely no effect on the force of the recoil. Newton's second principle! The recoil depends of: 1. The force on the arrow. 2. The mass of the speargun. The rollergun is more massive and the extra mass absorbs the recoil. 3. The rollergun has no free-swinging rubber at the end of the shot.
Wouldn’t just shortening the bands on the old style guns make up the difference? Or no way to get the same stored energy as a longer rubber kinda thing?
Does anyone know how you would mound a reel on this? (On the side opposite of the double wrap?) maybe you can’t use a reel and need a breakaway style set up? 🤔 🤷🏻♂️
Don't, they are junk. Not worth the bother and don't work as claimed. I got one years ago and threw it away. His reinvents it with line through the rollers as the rubber would bind and not pull or stretch evenly. Theory good. Real life in the water a cruel rip off
Inverted rollers have to be heavily over powered to overcome the resistance of the pulleys. I use a Pathos laser carbon roller and it is incredibly fast. does an inverted roller offer that speed? I have seen a lot of guys using inverted rollers to push 7.5mm plus spears on heavy timber and carbon guns.
Hey mate, it really depends on how you rig it. Some of the guys in here are throwing 9.5mm shafts, double wrap rigged at some pretty big fish. If you'd like to know more head to our website and get on Live Chat or give us a ring. Cheers
would you recommend a roller as a step up from my current gun. I got an entry level gun just to see if ill stick with spearfishing and ive grown to really like it. would either go for a bigger gun with double rubbers or a roller.. whats your take?
If you intend to stick with spearfishing probably go straight to a roller. It is more pricey than a standard gun but it's a very accurate, light, easy to use gun. I used a lot the standard circular band guns (and love them) - but once I speared with a roller I got in love with them. I use 99% of my time roller guns.
You said your 1.10 roller gun give same shot as your convencional 1.30 gun. Your 1.30 is double rubber? What size of rubber you use on it, 16mm on the double?
Hi Jefferson, I made the same experience. I had an 110cm roller that shot very similarly to my 1.4standard gun (2x16mm, 7.5 shaft). As the shaft is pushed longer on the barrel, this extra time means longer propulsion of shafts, therefore reaching better shooting range. I also used a beautiful heavy 3x16mm woody bluewater gun, but after a 120 roller (16mm) I just kept using this 1.2 roller. Shorter, lighter, far better maneuverability and I could do quite accurate shots even from awkward angles (soooo little recoil that bent wrists and elbows would work).
I spear gun in the Caribbean sea by Cozumel , which roller do you recommend me? I fish in clear water I need a powerful gun and sometimes shoot at long distance, could I buy you one?
When changing setups (bands/shafts) always double check with your manufacturer (or check the specs of the trigger). If trigger mechs are overpowered they will misfire. Very very dangerous...
I got a 1100 RA roller railgun but my arms are too short! Even with the stock load-assist bungee-band. The longer load assist (nn-stock) makes a world of difference & I modified the spear shafts with stainless steel wire shark fins. But I shoulda got the 800 or 900 version. Ah well.....
Sorry but roller invert or simple roller nothing to do with normal classic circular . I have been testing a lot but most efficient always classic double rober
Hello in friend im Philippines i watching to all video my name Lloyd Aaron D.Nomio my dreaming speargun i hope gift me this account my wife i hope touch your heart thank u for read this god blessed you
Depends on the use. Short rollers are nice in murky water. Longer rollers for reef hunting or even blue water (or good vis a vary fish). The size of the shaft depends on your roller gun length (actually the power it can develop). A 7mm shaft needs less 'power' to be pushed at a certain target distance, than a 7.5mm shaft (more weight as well). I use a 90cm roller with 16mm rubbers and 7.5 shaft, and the same setup but 1.2m barrel for longer shots / larger fish. Most used length from what I have seen is between 90 and 110 cm barrels. The 110 IMO is a very all-round and versatile one.
Really great and informative video on roller guns man! Thank you!
Very interesting, the inverted gun ! Thank you and greetings from South Africa

Can you do a special on PoleSpears for hunting snapper and grouper in holes. What tips are best? What length should I use?
a great tip for polespears is to buy a normal speargun
@@FineArtbySamuel Really good advice

Wow that is may dream speargun have good quality and long use..watching here from philippines i love speargune sir ..thanks 😊🤗
Love these video's!! Think i'm gonna order my Next set of Gun's from you guy's :)
"The Bloody Gun".. just perfect
What about the "Fusion" Invert Roller gun? How is that different from the "invert" roller gun?
Fusion: its like a simple roller gun, it just 'replaces' the section of rubber traveling thru the rollers on the muzzle, by a rope.
Invert: rubbers stay at the bottom of the gun. Added pulleys multiply the propulsion force to the shaft.
Good and simple explanation. Thank you!
Great bit footage guys
It's like compound bow vs regular bow

Hey whats the go with full length rubber on the Rob Allen Tuna? Why do some 1m rollers have different length rubber?
Conventional old fashioned spear guns i love they work simple trouble free like ak 47
Same thing I am saying
is it enclosed track any good for roller?

Especially with inverted rollers, there is no way to get the same stored energy with an old style gun of the same length.

You can use a reel on inverted rollers, at least I've seen videos of it

What brand is the gun on the left? Love the shape.
Hey mate! The one on the left is a Pathos Sniper-R -

Sir what the name of your shaft.. Is that a steenlees or pure metal
generally sandvik stainless steel
sir good day is 7mm pathos shaft fit to my pathos snipergun 115cm.? the original shaft is 6.75mm...
Yeah probs, most standard speargun mechanisms can take up to 8mm and a difference of 0.25mm is negligible.

Probablemente un roller de 100 de largo the vendria bien. O uno de 120cm. Eso seria lo que yo usaria en tu lugar. Gomas de 16mm y varilla de 7.5mm.
I know all about pour trigger mechanisms had a beuchat put double 16mm bands on it itd shoot by itself even with safety on.
