Yes - "lavender" - don't want that -"lavender" - smell to get out. Thanks Hoocho :D
My exact thoughs😂
Lavender smell lmao 🤣
Basil odors
You and blakey giggling like school kids about space buckets is the most wholesome thing I’ve seen all day
Children in a candy store 😂
Time for a trip to the Bunnings Space bucket section. Easily the best part of the video. You had his number right away.
I love growing lavender so calming.
If you're going to grow lavender in a space bucket, remember how much they stretch when they're going into flower and read up on training techniques! Lavender loves being topped young and trained to fill a space 😅
you need the indica type of lavender..
@@joeprinsen1717 😭😭😭😭
@@emmanueljonah6044 Yeah, he broke it.
@@tonytravels2494 tbf it was already broken.. or can you topp lavender?? ^^
Hydroponic lavender! This will take the potpourri world by storm.
wow great video, very nice that you are going in to the details of par and temperature.
Great work Hoochos and Blakey ! Would love to see Blakey feature in the next video too !
Space sidekick 🚀
Hoocho, this looks great. Gave me a lot of great ideas for other projects. Thanks for sharing!!
the "just another powercord" is actually the european one and the "european one" is UK :D
Have you done an update for this system yet? How is it performing
Always nice to see another way of you manifesting your green thumb. You can tell that you live for this stuff 👍🏼 It almost feels as if there isn’t a spot, a nook, a cranny or a corner of your house and land which doesn’t have something to do with gardening in or around it.
I’m going to set up a small RDWC setup (4+1 buckets) myself. Moving up from coco/perlite mix. It would be great to see a vid on how beginners would go about doing that and the main things to know and look out for when setting one up in a small space. I reckon there would be plenty of people who’d appreciate it. Especially with increasingly more people trying their hand at new hobbies these days. What with everybody’s favourite virus and all.
Just make sure you're in a climate and space that allows it to be be kept cool. Warm nutrient solution is the biggest problem with DWC. Stick with clean synthetic nutrients and don't use any kind of organics in it. If anything, keep it sterile with use of chlorine. Avoid h2o2, it's not as good as chlorine for various reasons.
@@prndownload I’ve been reading about the importance of keeping the roots cool. That’s actually a bit of a problem because I’m running a 90cm x 90cm tent with a CO 2 reaction tank. So it’s a sealed room. Gets to about 26-31c. The only reason the plants don’t die is because of the ~1100ppm of CO 2 they get and the Silica and Seaweed they get on top. You reckon a frozen water bottle in the nute reservoir would do the job? Because I don’t really have space for a chiller.
@@ivareskesner2019 I suppose you need to figure out if losing a crop to root rot is worth it just to run co2. I personally would rather just get the DWC yields without the problems and without the co2 if it means you can keep it cooler. I'd also look to ensure you're insulated and reflecting light away as dark colours absorb light and turn it to heat. Seaweed is also organic and would have no place in DWC.
@@prndownload Seaweed goes, yep. It will very quickly decompose and cause all sorts of strife. I’ve learned this. That said. I’d like to have both. Benefits of Co2 *and* hydro. My ventilation comes on at lights out to keep the temps down, and the best I can get even while ventilating is around 23-26 c (because of the dehumidifier). And this is during winter. Still risky. What do you reckon is a better solution - get a water chiller and keep it outside the tent with the element going into the nute bucket inside. Or. Just try to fit an aircon unit inside the tent to keep the whole atmosphere at a good range. Maybe chuck an ice bottle in when needed. What’s your experience been like?
@@ivareskesner2019 If you're lighting things with LED, insulating your buckets, chlorinating and keeping your temps in range through the seasons then it's doable without chiller or AC. Rotating ice bottles isn't really a good situation or option for anything but an emergency.
I haven't done a lot of DWC personally but I've had enough experience to have both success and failure with it. Most common problem is root rot from warm water. If you have everything dialled in then it's a great way to grow. I just found I prefer to keep my setup as simple to run as possible.
Reminds me of 1980 ish phototrons , thanks Hoocho
Time for an update!
You have inspired me to try to grow some lavender
You're plug knowledge is cute :D.
Love your channel bro!
Love to see this done with 2 bins joined at the rim to make more height.😎
Space bucket challenges are great.
thats soo cool bro, nice!
The bunnings space cadet 😁
Is there an update video? I'd love to see how it went
I was at Bunnings yesterday looking at the space buckets lol
great video love your work
are you worried about the water going bad from lack of movement
Super cool! Love lavender bro
hit us up anytime when you want to grow your own and don't forget to use THANKS_HOOCHO at checkout 💚
A tube of caulking would make a big difference.
I cant see thay wicking up enough water to the plant. Great job I think im gonna make one with a funnel. And a hose for watering. Have the hose come through the lid and attach the funnel. Keep the videos coming.
Haha Blake's a legend.
Hoocho, you had the UK, EU, and US power supply. Thanks for the great video.
Great video.
great instrutional video thanks. my only concern is wether you are getting enough airflow.
using a metal bin would reduce the chance of a fire...plastic burns really well...metal will also act a heat sink as well..
Also Reflective
How is the wicking system working for you? Where did you get the macrame rope from? All the stuff I've seen is tightly wrapped.
Is there any issue with evaporation of the bottom reservoir since it isn't completely enclosed? Just wonder if the EC reading will change day by day.
Lavender 😂😂 nice built mate.
Another thought hoocho, would you be concerned that the temp/humidity probe would give skewed readings from mounting at the top like that? Especially when the fan is on. Wouldn't mounting it where the canopy is going to be give an optimum reading?
I thought about this and you are probably 100% right.
Second power cord is for Europe and the last is for Great Britain
Might want to try some of those Auto lavenders considering the space your dealing with...that or up scale the design to say I don't know a water tank maybe :p
because you can't control when the auto lavender blooms - you'll get more control growing photoperiodic and start flowering when it reaches about 1/2 max height 👌
I’m gonna grow meself some of that lavender u token about there mate!
Could I ask where can i purchase the par meter you have? The affiliate link in your par meter video no longer works is there a new one?
Totally understandable if you dont have time to answer i know your a busy bloke!
As far as the fan I would place it on the top and remove the handle and use the fan as a handle.
Carbon filter=yes. If my pet squirrel smells the lavender then it tells all it's friends and there will be no more lavender... IPM at its finest.
Got to do this cus my tent setup is in storage I'm having to move
the extra powercord is actualy the european and the by you titled european i believe is british plug.
Awesome work!🤩
But you really could have optimised your 3D-Printing process...🤨
If you stud your Vent on its side (the side, that will let the air out later), I guess you could have printed without using any support😉
But apart from that, thank you so much for your video!!!😃
How much is this kit and where can you buy it at thank you for your time
2:40 the 3-pin power cord is UK, the one where you said it was international is used in most of mainland europe
Definitely not an electrician! 😂
@@Hoocho ... nor a Pom 😂. Great video. And I’m looking forward to confusing my local Bunnings store here in SA by going in and asking where the space buckets are! Ha ha ha. Hopefully all Bunnings staff in Australia watch your channel! 👍
What do they use buckets for? In space?
You're one of the few people I've seen post about SGL that isn't affiliated/employed by them. After a year, would you recommend the "Ninja Grow Kit"? Pros and cons?
link on 3d outlet? pls
Whats the name of that automation growing app?
Nice build, but seeing the Wyze camera I did have to ask. Is the recording a month at a time still? and with their subscription service does it affect the camera? Do we need it for the timelapse?
Wyze Subscription is for cloud storage and some sort of motion detection that only triggers with humans. My free trial ran out a few weeks ago and I never used it, camera still does time lapses and everything, you just a microSD.
Time lapse maxes out at a month, but that’s not a subscription limitation. I think it’s purely hardware/storage to limit file size.
I’m not subbed to wyze for any of my cameras/at all.
@@goatgod2009 thank you
@@Hoocho Awesome, I was a little worried as they seem to be the only cost-effective solution and wanted to time-lapse 12 months on the food forest that we built in Melbourne's lockdowns last year lol.
I will order one and start playing with the settings.
@@matthewfarrell317 order the latest v3 it’s waterproof
Blake is high as hell lol
Lavender is legal now in Thailand but you still have to call it lavender there for the UA-cam algorithm.
Is lavender a thing these days? In my reading and research on hydroponics and aquaponics, this is the first time I've heard mention of lavender.
Interesting, call me stupid but I've not heard of a space bucket, 🤔 have no fear my mate Google and UA-cam are here. 🤣🤣🤣
Great video as always
Thanks H 👍
Hooch
Did you ever do timelapse in the space bucket?
also curious to see the spacebucket timelapse!
Bunnings really is the best Australian hardware store 😂
thank you sir we inhale the weed smoke with firemen. I don't have a house anymore but it was a great night!!!
Whats that mouse thing you are using @Hoocho ?
It’s a space mouse
Nice stache lol 😆
Bunnings staff must think here comes that guy again who is really into lavender gardening. Always buying rubbish bins and range hood filters.
“This guy again…” hahah
"Do you know what a space bucket is?" 🤣
Not thinking of any specific plant to grow in this?
devil's lettuce 😈
funky brocoli 🥦
space tomatoes 🍅
jazz cabbage 🥗
the 3 pin square power cord is UK, the 3rd power cord was European
lavender 😉.
Who doesn’t hate the smell of lavender… 😄
@@jsoellner1 😂🤣
Thats the UK plug the big beefy looks russia one.
The international cord is the Eu cord.😂
Happy weeds lol
Hey Hoocho my granddad works at the same place as you his names Gavin im his grand child
Gavin is a top bloke. You’ve got a great granddad there mate!
Lavender 😊😅
isnt that light kit alone like $600
Yeah Laaaavennnnnderrrrrrr lmao
"your house isn't going to stink of plant" yeah it is. Unless you filter the output.
There is three types of power connectors: USA, Europe and UK.
Didn’t Jeb Gardener UA-cam channel make one of these himself using separate parts?
Otherwise , awesome video Hoochos!
I love Jeb, I think I know the episode you’re referring to.
He was definitely an influence of mine.
Perhaps not directly for this video.
But I’ve watched so much of his content he’s probably rubbed off on me in some aspects hahah.
@@Hoocho You need to up your classical music game then!
did anyone peep that the example plant name that the app gave was... Gorilla Kush lmao
Looking like an undercover cop with aviators and a mo driving to buy a bucket to build a stealth grow 🤨
ahh yes, this is the droid we're looking for... goes by the name RUDankToo?
Space Bucket Needs View Hole to See Moon
lavender😂❤
definitely not using this kit to grow weed in my closet
3 prong is uk, 2 prong spanish
2 prong is most of europe minus uk (e.g. germany, italy, spain)
US also has a three prong plug (though it varies between two and three, same as in Australia, depending if it has earth connection or not) They just have different shaped prongs. Two round prongs are pretty much all of Europe. At least all the countries I’ve been or had products from.
Fun fact: Australia has the same power points as China, just upside down.
lavender....lavender....LAVENDER
I find it funny!!!! you went off at Murrdoch media but you shop at bunnings look into it!!!!
"lavender"
I hate it when I'm growing "Lavender"... and the stink goes through the house...
I just ate a sandwich, putting the rest aside for later.
the one you called european is british, the other mainland europe.
Lepiej kupić namiot
350 bucks for the kit? 90 watts? What. A. Rip. Off. 😆
While I don't grow lavender, I do watch lavender growing channels since they are loaded with good indoor growing info. I wouldn't expect much lavender from this setup with probably a lot of smell as the exhaust looks woefully inadequate.
Lol, but good video and I like the wicking stuff. I've been wanting to deploy some wicking outdoor pots and definitely gave me some ideas!
Was gonna try this too and then I saw the price - very disappointed
insert bad joke about wick sitting ______________________ here.. haha ima a55 i kno
who grows lavender if he hates the smell? thats the purpose of lavender
Shhhh you! Go sit in the corner. No more stupid questions 😜😂
What is a space bucket ?? A trash/garbage can ??
This whole time I thought you were growing weed tf
Not even 10yrs ago people would laugh at these things and led lights but now whos laughing the cat is out the bag. Everybody should grow their own buds. Not buy them.
