- Konami brought me out to Japan in February where I got a chance to play the VR game 'Yu-Gi-Oh! DUEL LINKS Presents SOLID VISION EXPERIMENT, a new Yu-Gi-Oh! DUEL LINKS VR demo.

Meh we already have a fan made yugioh VR. Dunno why konami wants him lying about this being an external cam of him in vr. It's literally the exame same video they gave in another presentation in japan. Doubt there is anything beyond concepts at this point

Bro, this level of VR for Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokémon is ALL us 25-35 year olds have wanted for SO LONG. It's literally what we've dreamed of when we played it as kids. This is what makes me excited for the future of VR.
I'd take Digimon over Pokemon, but Yu-Gi-Oh by far way more than the both of them, lol.

Best way to start a game like this is just have it be a single player story game with a very limited deck pool. Then use that as a foundation to build off of.

Actually, just add a Tag Force gameplay feature. You can either fight bots with almost any deck, or try yourself in online matches.
@@user-wp2wp3vh8e My intention was for that to come later since each monster, card effect and interaction would have to be made. Starting with a prebuilt deck then expanding on everything later would probably be the best start for how ambitious this could end up being. The eventual goal would be for pvp with a further expanded deck pool. As it stands I do believe there are like 12k cards in the game right now. Honestly, just thinking about it a bit more, if they just stuck to the original pool of cards it should be much more doable and not bogged down by effects and interactions since most of those cards were normal monsters.
I legit can’t wait for the VR game to drop. If they get it decently far, we could do VR Card games on motorcycles 😂

Imagine activating a Field Spell like "A Legendary Ocean" and just seeing the structures appear and then the sea rush over everything like a tsunami and suddenly you're standing in the underwater ruins, would look epic I bet.
I think the whole ground would turn into water and you would be walking on top of water looking at the ruins from above. and then the opponent activates fire king's island and a volcano appears out of nowhere behind the opponent

You’d quite literally get a home field advantage if you played it against people who had Hydrophobia 😅
And this! Is exactly why it took forever for them to make a Yugioh game like this. I not even sure this one will be it. Maybe when AI are fully intergrated to the game so you can interact with the monsters like NPCs

Imagine having your VR set on waiting for your opponent to finish their 5 minute combo to OHKO. This needs to be PVE content where you fight boss monsters/duelists
Probably cooler than seeing your opponent move JPEGs around. At least the 2400 damage one eyed giga fir dragon looks cool while burning my face off.
Or they just stop after DM, and keep it OG cards only. That way it stays fun.
@@monkeysk8er33 They'll probably do more than just the OG cards, though I highly doubt they'll do anything super complex or advanced archetype-wise, they'll probably only do maybe 5%-10% of the total cards in the game at most at launch, which is still quite a lot.
it will be unpleasant to perform combos on this thing. This will be classic Yugioh only probably and then slowly go from there. I wonder though if each monster will have an animation, wouldn't that make the game very demanding and really big in size? Not to mention much more expensive to develop. Unless they plan to go full in with Gen AI to reduce costs considerably.
Maybe they will make some rule changes there? Like, limiting special summons.

Now imagine if/when they go all out, and if you have a kuriboh monster in your deck. It just pops up next to you, worried. Giving you the full protag experience.
Give us a VR duel disk that can scan cards, I dont care if they have to create an entirely new set of cards specific for VR for it to happen. If I can duel with people around the world using a duel disk and a VR headset I will lose my mind.
If they don't, we can probably guarantee that some chad game modder will come up with something
It would probably be easier, and cheaper, to have a single card to scan, that would then be used for storage of player data.

@@yuseifudo6075Except, the reason that OP non-ED monsters are OP is BECAUSE they synergized well with the new summoning mechanics. For example, no one gave a single fuck about Rescue Cat before Synchros happened, and when Synchros did happen because Rescue Cat synergized so incredibly well with Brunak, it became one of the most busted cards in the game that they banned it, and then errata'd it to HOPT. The vast majority of board starters in modern Yu-Gi-Oh, would be nothing without the new summoning mechanics.

I think the big opportunity Konami has here is making a duel disk peripheral for VR. One that responds to touch but that they can make some real money off of. Charge players 150% the price for the duel disk and the game comes either preloaded or with a code to download the game. And you can't play one without the other. Then they can strictly focus on the touch and response with the duel disk and how the offhand controller moves in relation to the DD.
Just saying, there's a huge marketing potential here that I would be surprised they don't tap into
And let's be real, we all want YGO-VR. But give us the ability to use a DD as a peripheral as well and bro, now we're cooking

I have the same problem with VR. I can’t play anything other than Beat Saber cause I get nauseous.
If it helps, it takes time to acclimate. Strategies such as having a fan blow in my direction helps greatly.

This is could be like Zexal where they had AR fields maybe they’ll sell special AR glasses that allow you to see the monsters and duel fields but that’ll probably be way further down the line

they have the opportunity to do the coolest thing where the only way to surrender is to hold your hand over the deck for a few seconds like it was in the anime, also exodia jumpscare is gonna go CRAZY in vr
Nowadays, VR is becoming a more solid platform than it ever was. It has gimmicks, but it provides way more fleshed out experiences than it ever has. I think VR gaming can be great if you have the stomach for it. A lot of the better experiences in VR take the detail and perspectives of a great game we would see on consoles now to new heights with the technology. Yugioh in VR the way this is being shown looks to be just like that, and it seems like players don’t need to worry about the nausea, which is a great thing.
I think YuGiOh should head in a different direction than VR. They should go in the AR route. So like the Apple Vision Pros where you can have tabs open in front of you, the duel is happening through like virtual glasses and anyone wearing said glasses can see the duel. So like your hand is virtual, and you use your Masterduel deck to have a real duel in front of you with holograms of the monsters you summon around you.
Maybe in another 10 years

glad they are finally making a supported yugioh vr. Back in the day some people made duel worlds to play, but anyone i met in there wanted like an actual game for it. One thing vr always does well is expressing scale, which works prefect for this type of game.
The dark magician popping and the depiction of the Pharaoh gave me chills. It feels nostalgic and special

Honestly, this is the best way you could've satisfied our want for an authentic ygo experience(duel disk is much more complicated to make than most think), the closest alternative would've been AR. Now they just need to make using/miving the cards as interactive as possible(like gloves à la Ready Player One, maybe the treadmill for movement too) and be eise as to what cards to add to the start(not TOO up to date but have cool combos)
That's awesome the interaction from the cards would be unbelievably fun, I am super hyped for the field spells cant wait to see citadel of endymion

I wish they add a open world where you can summon monsters and interact with them like Imagine summoning blue-eyes white dragon and riding on its back while flying around or summoning obelisk and sitting on his open hands as he carries you around the area
Ever since VR became a thing I always thought that Yugioh and card games in general would be the absolute perfect fit for it. Idk why it took this long, maybe they waited for the hardware to develop well, or maybe now that Apple entered the scene they think a massive investment will be put into VR industry making it a good entry point. Idk really, but I am glad it is happening at last.
Honestly, this needs to be a series.
1st game: Battle City
2nd Game: Duel Academy
and continue on that way, and then they can import past effects and monsters into the new game. I'd 100% be for this.

I wonder if you can mod custom avatars in eventually? Still it is very cool that you got to witness this! As with all new technology hopefully VR headsets get more affordable and comfortable.
Honestly when this eventually becomes a full game...seeing dark magician and all these cards come to life is gonna be so emotional for me...i grew up playing ygo with my brother....its gonna be sick seeing all of jaidens e-heroes show up and seeing stardust dragon for yusei (which 5ds was my favorite so its just gonna be sick)

They need to make this like a duel links situation where it starts with dm and adds more series with updates. Maybe limit the card pool to premade decks so they can focus on this level of detail or smth but this is sick as hell

This needs to have the whole monster dual database in 3d models. There are so many favorite monsters out there EVERYONE wants to see in 3d that were not in the anime.
To be honest, I'd say the next best thing would be Augmented Reality rather than virtual reality. Instead of a whole virtual environment, something which superimposes the thing onto your field of vision would probably be the closest thing to the way things are in the anime.
