Snow Leopard hunting Urial | Ladakh | Himalaya

- A snow leopard was seen hunting a Himalayan Urial at Hemis Shukpachan village, Ladakh, India on 13 March 2023. The video was shared on social media. The author of the video was not known at the time of uploading it on UA-cam.
Later I was approached by Vedant Thite (@vedantthite2338) in the comment and claimed that the video was recorded by him. After getting to his Instagram profile through his UA-cam profile, I found the same clip in one of his highlights. Here I give credit to him and his friend, the photographer.

wawoo amazing and how snow leopard selected injured one, if you look closely you will find that this particular sheep has front left leg broken.

Its so steep that their runnin is almost fallin. And thats exactly how the hunt ended. It ran full speed into the ground

What is wrong with the Urial's left front leg? (right front leg from our side) 0:30 to 0:40

I just saw, yes it looks like his leg is broken
It broke on the way down. You can see the cat planning the route down, slowing its speed and finding the best way down. But the Urial just runs with max speed and breaks its leg and keeps going but takes the wrong route down and falls. The cat probably knows that the urial got hurt and chills a bit cuz it knows it’s dinner time:D

The urial died because of the fall, not for the leopard
But it fell because the Leopard chased it. I dont know that much about Snow leopards but i would guess that some part of their hunting succes also comes from getting their prey to fall somehow. Most of the Hunts ive seen from Snow leopards ended in the prey Falling down the cliffs oftentimes even together with the leopard.
Nature is so cruel but yet so beautiful, human beings are odd man out !!!
