So Squires Lady was a classic half ton racer, Volupia your live aboard I would still call a cruiser / racer - clearly you like a boat that sails properly! 👍

Hi Rob and Jen 🤗☕️ I never knew she’d got such a voluminous interior ! That’s a HECK of a lot of space down below and it’s so much easier to refit as you go when you’ve space to physically work , I’ve done a few Eberspacher installs and repairs now and sadly the Webasto isn’t as durable so many big yacht owners have switched away from the Webasto . The cheap Chinese heaters have a lot of people for and against , but if it works for you , it’s affordable as a for now solution even if it ends up not a permanent fixture long term so never be discouraged with differences of opinion when in the public light 😉 Jen ... your home is about the size of my flat ! Petal she’s a definite keeper , and Rob , mate you’ve space aft for a pair of davits. Keep the tender on the foredeck buddy .... you could get a vacuum packed motorbike on the davits amd you’re TOTALLY self sufficient 😂 lovely yacht , lovely lines for the form , but a real great sloop with everything you could need . Thanks for the tour , really enjoyed that guys so keep shining and keep looking down the road to the two year plan 😉⛵️🍻 Mark , Rach , and Molly x

Hello mate that's true I know of a couple of people who have them and if you know how to change them out they normally last a long time and you cant go wrong for the price of them repaired to a Ebersbacher
Sent you a email last night
      Thanks rob

Sailing Volupia hey matey , hey Jen 🤗😎☕️
Yes Rob I got it thanks buddy , bear with me matey I’ve got phone and iPad issues not sending at the minute , it’s only interference off this implant so don’t worry bud , text you earlier and last night and just forgot I’d not replied yet to your reply bless you haha 🤣
I know ... I’m going to go sit in the corner and crayon .... I’ve done two walls now so still got some space to draw pretty unicorns and stuff 😜🍻
Sorted the masks problem too mate !
Been researching at a microbial level and chatted with a microbiologist at Exeter University I used to have as a lecturer and it’s not perfect by a million years .... but approximately 46-57% better than the crap face masks were getting from amazon , evil bay , any online place including some “medical supplies companies “ .
I hope you won’t mind me sharing here although please forgive me everyone ..... this isn’t boat related and ABSOLUTELY no liability or responsibilities on Rob and Jen , I’m just a friend but safety kit should be for ALL who need it .
We do to get the engine rebuilt .
Panty liners and the disposable masks .
The masks are filament synthetic fibre , but a virus needs a moist warm ish host to breed .
We exhale warm moist air when we breathe and speak .
Panty liners are designed to trap moisture , so they lock away according to the adverts and published works , any moisture .
Forgive the harsh nature of my attempt exaplaing , but this DOES help measurably !
I cling filmed my head , having sewn in half a panty liner ( Bodyform Ultra because they’re to hand having a fiancé )
At 30cm I fired an aerosol paint spray can at the mask for 15 seconds .
DONT do thos at home !!!
Yep , the vapour got through about 70% BUT no moisture at all inside .
Rob , I believe matey I’ve got us covered to safely rebuild your engine , side by side , and I’m offering up my trials for anyone to look at further .
There’s NO proof NOR published work on this yet .
People It’s at your own risk ENTIRELY I’m afraid but I WILL be following up with a proposal paper to the head of triage at NHS trust down here so I’ll do my best for us all woth what I’m able then someone else with lab facilities can take over .
I’m a marine scientist with a background in engineering , but if you’re depending on the disposable face masks to keep you safe in closer quarters than your comfortable .... self adhesive panty liners DO increase the effectiveness of stopping moist warm air being breathed in by the wearer , or spread to those around you as it captures the moisture .
      I did some photos .
Rob , I’m so sorry to jump on your post matey but people need to know we CAN help each other .
We only have to want to .
Speak later buddy and nothing needed at this stage bless you .
Stay well , and please , if you feel this inappropriate I’ll not be offended at it being removed or deleted at all .
I’ve the photos and research I’ve carried out first hand , checked my facts woth one of my old lecturers who’s a microbiologist and the numbers DO add up to being a safer option than JUsT buying disposable masks that won’t help a squid in a yacht .
Erm , that’ll be me aboard my yacht , not you lovelies aboard Volupia 😜🍻😎
Stay safe and well all of you lovelies , and Rob , Jen , stay safe and see you soon xx

Mark, thankyou for your lovely replies. They're really appreciated. I'd just like to point out since Rob has been away I've done a lot more tidying and organising 🤣 so the boat looks quite messy but it's not in my nature to be disorganized!

Just out of interest how easy is it to move out of the salon up to the deck with the spray hood deck step? Is it a hands and knees job or any special technique?
    Many thanks

Hi, defiantly a lovely boat in the style of Swan who German Frers designed for in the same era. A so called bluewater boat or better an offshore racer. She should have nice sailing characteristics without the vices of the older IOR Designs. She has been set up for a lot of crew, a winch for everyone! The pilot berth was in theory great safe place for sleeping on off shore passages but has defiantly gone out of favor . In the beneteau write up here www.beneteau.com/us/first-1983-1988/first-435 there is a photo with the pilot berth reconfigured .
I'm just curious what version is this? I read they had deep and shallow draft and a tall rig too ( usually for USA market with its light winds).
You should have a boat that will look after you and with the strong solid hull hold up to what ever you throw at her.
I read about a sister ship Jedi that they rebuilt her Perkins. Not a bad option depending on the issue with it and probably cheapest option as well as something that will require the least amount of modifications . You could do upgrades like a serpentine belt and other modernizations done on them . Cheers Warren

You have to tell people to waster their hands now. Explaining what hot water is used for just kind of fallows.
