Watching this with a pair of saluki’s sat alongside me. They’re a beautiful breed, low maintenance, fastidiously clean, and raised domestically, engaged with and trained they become a wonderful, easy to live with family dog.
👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👌🏻 It is truly a national treasure and heritage that we would have almost missed if it were not for some breeders with firm principles who preserved what remained of these purebred breeds and returned them to the embrace of their homeland and its people for free, as they considered them a national wealth and heritage. Many thanks to them.
It was so nice to see a documentary on the Bahraini Saluki. I have a rescued Bahraini Saluki and she is just the most majestic, interesting, loyal dogs I have ever owned. I knew very little about the breed before we adopted her and I would adopt another in a heart beat. It was very interesting to identify the Saluki traits/characteristics to my own. Although she is weary of strangers she is fiercely loyal and affectionate to our family members.
Wonderful video! I enjoyed this so much! ❤🙌 I live in England and in my family we own 2 Salukis - one male, one female. They were both rescued / rehomed from different situations so we do not have their breeding records but I recognise so many of the distinctive Saluki traits and characteristics seen in this video. The interesting thing is while my family has always owned dogs of various breeds, we never planned or set out to find a Saluki. Both of our Salukis came to us almost by accident! And I am so happy they did. 😊🐶🐕❤
Wonderful documentory with lot of new learnings, great work .... keep it up. 👍 I m also a proud parent of an Indian hound called 'Mudhol hound', which I think is another version of ancient Saluki breed. There are many similarities with Saluki except the fur on ears, tail, etc.
There are sources by the Babylonian kings that they were used for hunting and were so prestige that they had to be housed inside the royal court, with there own trainers and servants.
I have 9 moth Saluki Puppy . it’s active , play well but it doesn’t bark if it see any animal or dog . I am bothered about self - protection on guarding at night for my home . Any advise 🌼
@@maryduffy7654 Thank you. I got to know its under puppy stage.as u said it will bark in semi adult stage. its beautiful breed. I just love my Rumi stolen 100 hearts 💗💗💗💗
If dog judges down point dogs that are not to the standard, and yet more and more seem to have a slope down from shoulders to hips or back (when they should be level from shoulders to back), then surely, if this is important, you should consider changes to the rules so you can down point dogs and breeders, by enough, to make the breeders of the dogs conform to the standards. That is surely why points are awarded or deducted when you are judging. If you have been judging for 40 years this means that the way the standards are applied, or the points being awarded or deducted is not helping to keep the dogs to the standard, and more needs to be done. Effectively, the judges, or the way the rules are applied, or the rules themselves, are part of the problem of dogs not meeting the standard. Maybe you should start to say, if the back isn't level your dog cannot be shown in the ring. That would quickly get back to breeders that care about the breed and more dogs would begin to meet the standard. I know having a level back is only one aspect of what the dog looks like, but how else do you address it before it (or another aspect), potentially, leads to health issues, or the dog no longer looks like what it's supposed to look like. I'm sure most Saluki owners are not aware of what their dog "should" look like, in detail, and probably don't care that much about it, as long as their dog is happy and healthy.

Salukis aren‘t guard dogs
You've got the wrong dog. They are hunters, not guard dogs.
Nice

One of the prominent Arab horse trainers raced them with his group one race horses and they out ran the horses over 2 miles
I gotta hunt with a Saluki one day
Saluki is a iranian (persian) dog breed.
Saluki is a trib and old village name in Yemen
Got 7 with me
The shots of their nails... yikes...
