Back in the old days with film, cameras were sold for decades or more. Nowadays - there are new models every other year like no birth control. Back then it wasn't so much about the camera either. It was more about film type, quality glass and photographer creativity.

Hi sir, I am currently choosing betwen 240 and 262? What would u choose?

Go for the one in best best shape at the best price. Image quality will be the same. The 240 has video which can't hold a candle to an iPhone video, but it's there.

Oh man, such a hard decision. The M9/ME sounds like it would be just enough for any true Leica shooter, but the 262 sounds like a step up and a better option for the future. Jim, if you had a choice, which would you choose, ME or 262?

      Dont get both imo
Unless you really need a good screen, quitter shutter,an ev dial
Get a second hand M9-P for the same price, more discreet and the M9-P is more targeted towards purist imo

Just a quickie...what's the number of the lens hood you have on the lens..is it the 12504.?? Or the 12585.??

    • @jim0266

It's actually a 12538 hood. It's a plastic hood and marked M2/50, but I use it on my 35mm lens.

I miss the M-P film sand-paper-ish cover, that's definitely my favourite, hopefully they'll bring it back.

+Tj Holowaychuk I have a .58 chrome film MP which has that finish. I can't say I was a huge fan of that covering. It was pretty slippery. It's all personal preference. :)

Weird, that's my thought with the M240, not grippy enough.

It's all about the way to focus and frame lines..battery changing must be so annoying though.

+SlimNic Clipz Perspective. In the film days we rewound the film after 36 exposures, popped off the bottom plate, took out the film and reloaded the camera. Today you head out the door and shoot all day long on one card and battery. It's not an issue.

+jim0266 this is a digital camera. the best thing about it is the focusing system and the frame lines. No reason why they couldnt make it easy to change a battery

+SlimNic Clipz How would you have designed the classic M with a removable baseplate to make it easier to change a battery? They could have gone to a trap door in the bottom instead of a removable plate, but that doesn't seem it would be as robust or elegant.

yeh i agree not to destroy heritage and aesthetics, but a more user friendly battery change solution would be good moving forward.

Don't replace your corroded M9 sensor - as replacement now costs 1000 USD - Let the world see what SHIT Leica produces
