Best of Frenemy
I lost Frenemy on April Fool's Day 2024. He appeared at our house in 2012. First clip is the first time Dexter, our Maine Coon who passed in 2022, saw Frenemy. We called him Frenemy later when we couldn't tell if Dexter saw him as a friend or enemy. Turns out, years later, they became buddies. Frenemy seemed to look up to Dexter as a big brother. I put this together for me so I had everything in one place. Most of the videos are of the many hours we spent walking and hanging out in the woods behind our house.

Frenemy passed away in April of 2024. I made this video in 2018 to test video on a Canon A7MK3 and learn FCP. Not sure why I chose this song other than I love it. It makes me happy to hear this song and see him at his peak on one of our many walks in the woods.
OWC Envoy Express Causing Speed Problem With Other Drives

Setting up and testing my new (refurbed) base Mac Mini M2 Pro I ran across a head scratcher that appears to point to the OWC enclosure as the culprit. I have two Acasis TBU405 enclosures each with a 2TB Samsung 970 EVO. The OWC has a Silicon Power 2TB. My plan was to use the SP NVME in the OWC as my home/user folder. Dexter and Frenemy

Dexter was our Maine Coon who passed in 2021. He was 14 years old. At his peak he was 23 pounds. Frenemy was a stray who appeared at our house in 2011. He spent his first two winters in a heated shelter before coming inside. He was an indoor/outdoor cat as he loved to be outside and take walks in the woods with me. Near the end of his life I started to let Dexter take some walks with me and Fre...
Stuck Snow Plow

Thanks to the men and women in Akron who do their best to keep the roads clear after a winter storm. It took him about 15 minutes to get unstuck. After backing down the street and making a high speed pass he got stuck again at the 90-degree uphill turn and got stuck for another 3-5 minutes.

This is my grandfather sadly he passed away in January 2024. But with this video I get to watch him whenever I need it.
Good job
What product are you using? Did you ever use mesh on the whole wall for multiple cracks?
4:35 that are missing or included?
I think the M240 has a few simulation modes. The 262 does not have any simulated film modes.

I sm from Akron, iving in Lincoln,Ne and Akron, Oh is home always
i like this leica withount any screen what it is cold? Nvm it is my goal ;3
What’s your mix?
See video description
Hi sir, I am currently choosing betwen 240 and 262? What would u choose?
Go for the one in best best shape at the best price. Image quality will be the same. The 240 has video which can't hold a candle to an iPhone video, but it's there.
To make the system information list update, you have to either restart it or press command+r. Also, I suspect that the OCW drive causes one of the drives to be recognized as a USB 3.1 gen 2 drive. Refresh system information, and you will find it under the USB tag instead of the thunderbolt tag.
Thanks @ivhos, you are correct! It's being seen as a USB 3.1 gen 2 drive. I have it plugged into my Studio Display. I returned the OWC Envoy Express and went with another Acasis TBU405 since it was the same amount as the OWC and seems like a better enclosure. Getting ~900 MB/s R&W from which is plenty fast for what's stored on this drive. No issues so far with the TBU405's or any of the three NVME's.
@@jim0266 the ovc drive is a thunderbolt 3 device. That might have something to do with it
That is super clever. Thanks for the video!
Unfortunately these days Akron is becoming better known for its defunct Rolling Acres mall which is the poster child for dead and abandoned malls. Why? Because Akron didn’t make sure to keep the mall from being vandalized after it closed. So now Akron is known for it. Whenever the news makes reference to dead malls or Someone searches for dead malls on UA-cam the Rolling Acres mall is mostly the first one that pops up. Way to go Akron.
thanks
Looks good but it’s not real hydraulic lime & gauging plaster it’s compound. Two different animals
Hi how are you I'm good my name is Andres here in South Africa in Johannesburg in Alexandra I like to know if I need to learn about plumbing and Plastering and painting how did I do
How can I adapt this excellent idea in an automatic garage door opener and help me understand where the alignment takes place. I assume from the driver’s seat?
It's been a while, but I remember some trial and error as to where to place the markers go give me the clearance I wanted. Correct, I did this from the drivers seat. I'm left eye dominant so I tend to use that eye when lining up as well. Not certain about your automatic door opener as mine us automatic as well and didn't pose an issue.
Nice video. Would you recommend it for someone who only shoots jpegs? Thanks
Probably not. While I never shot JPEGs with this camera, only RAW, it feels like a waste of the best the camera has to offer by limiting it to JPEGs.
That’s my grandpa ❤
I thought my ancestors founded akron .. i was looking to learn something about that 😏
Do you still shoot with the M262 now Jim, the red dot forum still rates this as a great camera..I had a M9 and miss it but thong the M262 would be a good option, even today do you think, Great video Jim thanks😮
Hi John, appreciate the comment. I still have the 262 but sadly haven't shot with it much the last few years mostly due to going nowhere during the pandemic. I'm in a down wave photographically too. Maybe I will swing up in a few years. Was actually thinking of selling it to fund a new Mac. I still haven't seen or shot with an M10 to be able to compare. When I look at the 262 images they still have a great look and feel compared to other cameras.
@@jim0266 ..thanks for the comments, the SL2-S is fine but I miss the rangefinder experience…..we all have down turns and we all struggle a bit, even now…let me know if you ever consider selling..I am lucky as I live near Ffordes a good camera shop in the Highlands, and they always are keen to try out cameras , and will pop out there soon in a few weeks when I have saved the money and look closely at a M262 the have in stock..best Wishes, John H 📷

What product are you using please?
Some have asked what he was using, so I finally gave him a call to ask. For this first layer in the video he was using a combination of drywall compound (80%) and moulding plaster (20%). He often uses more moulding plaster but advised that the more moulding plaster you use the less time you have before it sets.
Well its now 2022 and wanting to replace my old M8 and M9, I bought a like-new M240. I don't do video and like you, I'm not interested in Live View, so I would have been very happy with the M 262. But for some reason, people are asking hundreds of dollars more for an M 262 than an M 240 or even an M-P 240.
Interesting. Do you think people want the simplicity of the 262? I haven't shot seriously with mine for a few years now, or with any "real" camera for that matter. Just snaps on my cell phone. I've been thinking I should sell mine and the last of my L-mount lenses. Might be a good time.
@@jim0266 I came across some information that the because the Type 262 was a stripped down model, it did not sell as well as Leica expected and they did not make it available for long. I guess the result is that is it far more difficult to find a Type 262 than a Type 240 and the result is the higher price.
is this guy still alive
Sorry, I don't know. I've since lost his contact information.
What's the brand name of the plaster

The Beacon Journal shut it doors and no longer does anything in Akron no staff, no printing.
Incorrect. There is still staff in Akron. The ABJ moved from 44. E. Exchange to 388 S. Main St. a few years ago. Printing stopped in Akron before that move.
@@jim0266 ABJ is one sided leftist
Good video..... sadly a failed Democratic presence for the last 35ish years has Akron on the verge of bankruptcy. They continue to throw money (borrowed) away on things that do not benefit Akron.
The video tells you absolutely nothing about how to skim coat a plaster wall. Just some guy who obviously has been doing it for years but no mention of the materials used. Plaster, joint compound? Who knows what he’s using. Useless to anyone wanting to know more about this type of repair.
In the video description was this: Update: Some have asked what he was using, so I finally gave him a call to ask. Thanks for this! On a side note, this is the framelines view for a 35mm??? Then i guess using a 28mm would make it hard to see the framelines? 😅
Correct. This is the 35mm framelines on the outside. I wear glasses and cannot see all the framelines for the 35 at one time. I have to scan around a bit to check them. 28's would be even worse. Still haven't seen an M10 or 11 in person to check if the eye relief is better.
@@jim0266 i guess i’ll try to borrow a 28mm first before i buy 😅 i don’t wear glasses though so at least there’s that. Thanks!
@@TheNinjek Not wearing glasses is a big help in seeing all the frames. If you are in the U.S. and looking to buy a 262, let me know. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be selling mine. According to LR it only has 4,182 images taken.
@@jim0266 oh thanks! I already have a unit though :)

Nice! LMK if you have any questions.
Are you still using this?
Still own it. Have not photographed much the last 18 months.
Yeah nice review. Im looking to get this model. Maybe when I got bored with my RD1
Does this use a different battery vs the M8 or M9?
Yes.
I grew up in Firestone Park. It was a wonderful place and time (1960’s) to grow up. We moved out in 1969, but I still consider Akron my home.
You do make it look easy.... good job
How quick is this dude 😳

I'm sure this is supposed to be a lot harder than he's making it look. Is he doing it right?

Do you still using m262? I am thinking about buying one. Not sure yet it’s gonna be like my mp film.
How do you like it four years later?
It's still a great camera and does anything I ask of a digital M.
That clearly looks like joint compound being skim coated on a plaster wall

Can you shoot BW on the 262? or just colour then change to BW.
Yes. There is an option to shoot B&W only as JPEG while also setting the sharpness or contrast levels. Or you can shoot both JPEG as B&W and RAW DNG at the same time.
@@JimArnold6 Thanks Jim. You see I had the M-P Typ 240 but sold it and regret it. I came across the M262 which sounds much more up my alley as I am a Leica Film shooter 90% of the time. Did stucco and plaster for many years. This guy is SMOKIN fast and his work isn't suffering. Well done!
Thanks for this...I was noticing that my 262 was slow to start up and be ready to shoot and after using SD formatter, it's almost instant!
Glad to hear this was helpful. Enjoy the camera!
I have watched this so many times. It's like ASMR for me as a homeowner. This man is so skilled! The way he makes it look so easy is proof of his technique and experience. And his wife!!
