this brought on tears in my eyes ....i was 14 in 1974 and i wish i could go back in time and relive it .... how simple life was then ..... not like today where the whole world is in a mess and evil all around us
People thought differently too back then.
Everything today is about indoctrination and sensitivity to self, but desensitized to the things that binds us together as a society.
I was 10 years old, can't believe it's 50 years old, great memories with this song.
I was 14 and this song was so amazing. Those were great times, life was easy and stress free - little technology, the way it should have stayed. Loved seeing this again.
That track should have been a hit in the UK and USA
This is or about to celebrate 50 years i Lost my anxiety Dog of 11 years i have another beautiful Kelpie called Lady Bird 🐦 i sing this to her every morning when she jumps on my bed for a pat and cuddle thanks moir sisters for your positive words 🙏🌹 cheers Stephen from QLD 🤠🐨🦘🎧✌️
get so melancholic and sad when i see this video. grew up on sydney's northern beaches in the 70"s, everyone knew everyone else, no snobs, aussie built cars, great pub scene (manly vale hotel) ,macca in the morning. Just a great time to be alive.....never to be seen again!!!
John S 60s, 70s, 80s in Sydney were the best 30 years of my life👍😀
I grew up in Narrabeen from the early 00's onwards, now living in Manly. I'm sure it's not the same as it used to be, but I still have great memories growing up here :)
You are so right mate I remember all the 70's music souch talent as opposed to today's muzak
John they were the best times,I miss those days
I totally agree. It was all so uncomplicated then.......
Still a classic in 2024
Indeed
Sure is
I love this song so much , this is the song that brings me to tears every time I hear it, every single time. The memories of a beautiful time long gone.
No auto tune , just 3 amazingly talented sisters wow 50 years old so much better than todays drivel & distant relatives
That brought back memories. Things were so simple then. Half a century later and things have turned so ugly. We have our laid back nature and our filthy corrupt and compromised politicians to blame.
Oh God! The impossibly beautiful dagginess!!The only decade that started in Black & white & ended in colour!
It is its feeling of complete innocence that cuts the heart ..Why isnt human life allowed to exist without some kind of insult, threat or debasement? During these 3 minutes it is free of such.. I know how you feel.
the marvelous Melbourne trio
One of those songs you never forget, even if you've not heard it in almost 50 years.
I've never heard it at all
Such a beautiful song. I can't stop myself bursting into tears for a time now gone. I was 11 when this song came out and it just brings all the feelings of that joyous time rushing back. It was when 2SM was THE station in Sydney and we had so much joy, wonder and excitement. There's still plenty of that today but this sound just goes right to my heart and connects me to my youth and the family members no longer here.
Me too Phillip. So many good memories. It was a great time to be alive.
All good Philp🙏
Those of us who were there know how you feel... time has passed and people have gone.... but we were there to live it.... that's a memory worth keeping.
It is it's innocence. The contrast with today's culture... it cuts deep.. I know how you feel
@@marksisto900 Yes, you're so right.
My Nan had this album and every Sunday was washing day, and I remember her ironing, dancing and singing to this song, and every time I hear this I think of her. RIP Nan.
What great memory (and a great Nan).
wow, this song brings tears to my eyes, a timeless song that brings back some many child hood memories
Yes me too 💕💕probably some of the best times of my life 1974 🥰
Me too ,it's the first song I ever remember loving.
This generation does not realise how badly they have screwed up this once beautiful world.
@@annprior9742 Me too! what a wonderful time to be young hey 🙏🏻🌻
@@noname-nd8ec I know I know I fear for these kids ......
A snapshot of Sydney in 74...I was only young about 6y/o...but i remember the music and simplicity of the times fondly..watching this makes me smile and sad in equal amounts
Another great memory from 74, I remember sitting on the beach one night by the fire with my transistor on shortwave, tuned into a Melbourne radio station, from Napier NZ,
I share similar memories of those years, listening to Radio New Zealand among others, on Shortwave (from Perth).
The upside was the ethereal effect of the static and inconsistent signal strength which always added to the romance of Shortwave music 🎶 listening for me.
The downside now is that I have tinnitus from wearing my earphones too long, whilst drifting off to sleep 💤 😴
1422 3XY Rocked Melbourne? Medium Wave rather than Shortwave.
Fantastic song. I was 14 when this was on the charts and the images in this video- the fashions, cars, make up, etc, has made me really weepy for an era never to be seen again. The instrumental accompaniment and arrangement of this track is fantastic.
The video is so effective, yes. Fond memories of that time, too.
Reminds me of happier times.
1974 I was in hospital for brain surgery. It was the worst year of my life. I was only thirteen. I was NOT happy. Later that year my parents split up.
This is my programmed alarm clock song.... just love waking up to it.... just like I did for six months straight in 1974 when it was in the top 10 for 26 weeks.
: )
How pretty is the blonde lady....got the most gorgeous smile...love this song and clip.
Looks and moves like a girlfriend I had, same smile & head shake .
Yes, I wonder who she is?
How can we find out? She is deadly gorgeous.
She looks very familiar. She might've been in a lot if ads back then
To you Rachel 😢
Beautiful memories northern beaches NSW. 💗🇦🇺
I remember this as a teenager, and it was nearly half a century ago. I want to go back and live in that time.
Scottish born Auz girls Jean, Lesley and Margot Moir - One hit wonder August 1974, stalled at #6 in Auz charts. Formerly appeared on New Faces and Crawford Productions Showcase (Melbourne)
One of the sisters (one of the tall ones) died about 8 years ago.
This song and the images invoke so many feelings - sad but good. Much needed in today's shitty, greed driven world
Heard this on a hits n memories radio station the other day. These girls deserved more recognition than they got - these harmonies are incredible. And seeing Ian Macrea again - blast from a Sydney youthful past ... even though i was a 2UW devotee during the great radio wars of the early 70s.
This song is so beautiful yet sad, shame we didn't get much viewing of the sisters singing it, such beautiful girls but don't get to see them singing the whole song only bits & pieces, that's the sad part about it😥😥😥
So innocent it hurts
Have always love this song, love those 70's fashions...
Growing up in Australia - joyful! Listening to 2SM by the pool with all your friends. Ahh sweet days.
Increadably beautiful song ❤❤❤
God I miss the 70s.
Wow. Haven't heard this song since 74 when I was 6 and growing up in Kallangur Qld. A hauntingly beautiful song. Reminds me of my first year in school. An amazing time capsule of Australia in the mid 70s. I'd go back to the 70s tomorrow if I could.
How cool to hear this song again after so many years. I loved this one - it always made me feel so good!
Thay song means something to me and having been lookinh for that song for ages. Thankyou google.
Beautiful so many good memories with this song
Magnificent harmonies. Matched well with clarinet and orchestra. As good as I remebered. 5 Stars. (Also a window into the 70's with a seriously dated video clip.😃)
One of my favourite under-rated, almost forgotten songs of the 70's. I was 14 in 1974 and this immediately conjures up memories of year nine high school life. Countdown had just started. Aunty Jack, glam rock bands from the UK, flared jeans, Abigale from Number 96 was a sex symbol, unemployment benefits were simply a matter of filling in a one-page form and we thought it would always be like this!
Beautiful harmonies and the true sound of 1970’s Australian music. Some awesome musicians played on their album. The late Ivan Hutchinson of Channel Seven had something to do with producing them, but they were on Channel Nine’s New Faces where they found favour with the record company that resulted in an album of songs. The only other band in the world with such beautiful harmonies is “The Corrs” from Ireland.
Used to be one of the 96Pm morning top Ten songs in Perth listening to this on the way to dropping my dad off to the boat going back to Rottnest island to work
6PM AM
I was 14 in 1974, and like others this is emotional to hear. The "girly" voices, the harmonies, the "innocence", the matching haircuts and the cute face of the youngest Moir, and the whole vid make this captivating. 1974 was also the year my dad committed suicide, so that made music of that year particularly poignant.
Just beautiful
I always loved this song.... Such a classy vocal and instrumental arrangement
The harmony was so beautiful. I remember this song playing on my dads radio in our house when I was very young
Magnificent song ! I love this song . Growing up in high school ❤️. Thankyou .
I still love this song as much as I did when I first heard it right up to now. It’s a fantastic song
I heard that the instrumental backing on this was by a musician/conductor permanently contracted to the Melbourne TV talent show that brought them to public exposure... But anyway, that instrumental backing is *absolutely* fitting... The horn/brass section and the compression/mix is just fantastic...
That vocal key change at 2.36 is PURE heaven... If you like it, be sure to check out work by the Rankin Family of Scottish Canada... Also heavenly stuff... ME: I had just turned 5 years old when this was on the radio... Special memories of wholesomeness and innocence.
I believe that was Ivan Hutchinson.
It's magic, but it's not a key change. A top harmony is added.
Great post. Yes much more innocent times in Australia
@@deanharvey7556 The one and only
My friend Felix Hayman wrote the orchestral arrangement and conducted the orchestra for this song- he was only 21 at the time. 😊
It’s a gem of a song
This brings back wonderful memories
My dad went through Cyclone Tracy in Darwin Christmas day 1974, and he is sure the ABC played this song over and over afterwards, the memories for him.
The perfect song released at the perfect time. Good Morning indeed. Australia had just woken up.
Unfortunately, at the end of 1975, it dozed off again for nearly a decade.
Love this song ❤️❤️❤️
Such great memories,2SM,GTK,Honda 750/4 and not a care in the world, stay safe
100 bloody acres brought me here hilariously.
Wow.... seen this on Countdown.... it was such a magical era.... I was 10 and the world was beautiful.... if only we had stayed in this era.... it was the best of times.
It's a reminder to appreciate the moment. We look back with such fondness and nostalgia at a simpler time that represented so much of importance to us (youth, the family we grew up in, friends, places, culture). But there are equivalent things of meaning to us happening right now. I try to appreciate them fully while they're with me because one day it will be similar to the feelings this song and video clip create and (as hard as it is to imagine) 2022 will be missed!
One of my favorites shourite shower songs 🌻
Amazing.
Wow what to say !! That was my year ❤️. Love love love this 💕
1974 I was grade 2 at Mosman park primary . Loved this song so much.
I’m same age as you. I was at Normanhurst PS. Never heard it and only googled it because the school I moved to in 1976 was in Vic and they came from my adopted suburb (I believe), Mooroolbark
Wonder where are that couple now? And was those styles really what was in fashion! Yes it was! The other video in NZ is also a classic love to watch them every now and then as remind me of my parents and one of times it's a FAB song ladies for sure like those sister's xx Malcolm from Hillary's Perth
Such an innocent song👍🇳🇿
The song was about their mum. I know, pretty tragic

Gosh that made me smile, so many memories
I heard this song on 6pr in Perth as the Perth Overnight with John Lewis Closing theme
love the platform shoes on the bloke
Love this group! Really cool to see them singing (even if its lip-syncing) in action! Discovered their State of Shock LP a couple years back and been obsessed with it since. Jody is one of my favorite songs ever!!
I've just discovered this album too! it's made the most incredible impression on me. They were definitely rising the same weird-theatrical-psychedelic wave that Kate Bush was, but with this special sound all their own. Wish more people knew about it!
and for the record, I think Jody is my fave too.
I only know lost lp.
@@nickpilkington9754 sure, I mean, they probably ARE singing. But this sounds like the studio recording, no?
I have only just heard this on my local community FM station Tamar FM . Oh the tears I love and miss you Mum I thought you would live forever .
Wow the memories 🥰
It has taken me 3 weeks to find Margot Moirs' doppelganger again. I knew I had seen that face before, but not knowing the actress' name, it has taken a long time and a lot of viewing to find her. From .21 to .42 in this video, the tall sister - Margot, is identical to the British actress Deborah Findlay. The resemblance is astonishing! Deborah was born on 31st December 1947 in Leatherhead, Surrey, UK; and Margot was born in 1959 Scotland, and died in 2015 in Melbourne VIC. 12 years difference, but identical. Uncanny
I have never seen three sisters so identical looking.
Love the Ziggy Stardust haircuts!
Yeh Baby 🤩
Such a good song for a wondeful era.
lovely song from the good old 70s
went to school with the older 2 girls .both were nice. god i feel old now. wonder what happened to them
Margot wrote burning for you for short circuit with lisa edwards.margot had a good solo cd in 1996.
Margot was a regular guest on one of our programs at the radio station I was MD at in the 90s
I think that was the album that Pip Joyce played guitar on.
During this period 2SM had the airwaves to its own. Not in a arrogant way but they connected with its listeners!!
3XY in Melbourne. We could occasionally pick up 2SM here after dark but they were pretty much the same anyway.
ok i was 13..& i did cry because i remember this
If my memory serves me correctly, they lived in Mooroolbark not far away from where we lived in East Ringwood at the time.
Still going around 5 ways looking for an exit! …. I live in Ringwood East and this is my Mooroolbark joke.
How gorgeous is the lady in this video, complete ray of sunshine.
A better time back when people working in customer service could speak English and be understood.
Heard the song on radio at shopping centre but couldn't remember the title until it came to me

Why aren't their songs on Spotify?
How beautiful and perfect are the harmonies? They're the reason why it's a Feel Good Song.
Lovely! I heard this song on a horror movie lol
They were on a cruise in 1974 December, on the Oriana.
They were pretty quiet until talent night, and there is a funny story about their chaperone. ( their Grandmother)
.... and that funny story is?
Granny jumped ship 3 miles out from Hawaii, swam to shore, met Elvis in a fast food outlet, secretly married him and had his child (invitro). Upon the Kings death she was left out of the will and nobody believed her story. But the question remains, how did she get his ring?
