Thank you Phil!!! I was just having fun with that - the bank did drop off there (probably completely changed by now again), and I just had to have a little fun. I should have put some crash sound sin there. 🤣 The plovers..... the beauty of the wildlife we shoot is how they keep changing with the migration. Love shooting them and you have to watch because they do blend in to the sand. 🙏💖🤗
That is a Black Phoebe. in the flycatcher family. They are neat to see and photography. I saw it when editing and happy to get it. Thank you for pointing it out!!!! 🙏💖🤗
I loved my RF 100-500 , it rocked the close up bug world. After I bought the RF 200-800, my 100-500 lived in my bag! I Sold the 100-500 and my R5 and paid for the R52. Now I am smiling! Just waiting on the winter migration of birds, and nesting season, here in Central Florida! I have made some killer photographs using the RF 200-800!
I almost sold my 200-800 and put it on the R5 II just as a comparison for fun. I was blown away. I have not taken the 100-500 out since I put this on the R5 II - really really impressed. I will still use the 100-500 on the R7 just for the MFD, but man ...... I am impressed - even in low light!! Winning combo - keep smiling. 🙏🤗💖
Thank you, thank you Ricky. I think the consensus from the comments I am readying - 100% winning combo. I am extremely impressed even in low light. Thank you from Sunny Southern California! 🙏🤗💖
@@pawetura549 Greetings from Sunny Southern California!! I am reading that it is a winning combo from the those that have used it. It is going to be my main rig for a long while - even in low light, it is awesome!! Thank you, thank you. 🙏🤗💖
Thank you, thank you. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this combo for wildlife to the point, that it will be my main rig for a while. I was not crazy about this lens on other bodies - good on full frame, did not like it on crop sensor bodies, but on this.... WOW. I almost got rid of it and figured I would try it - really impressed. I will be using this in Arizona next week shooting humming birds. I will have the 100-500 and 600 F4 but for the most part, this has been a continuous testing of the paring. Working on two more videos with this set up. Again, I am really impressed! Thank you, thank you for letting me share. 🙏🤗💖
I forgot I did that evil laugh! When I get back and you get back, lets go back tot he lagoon together and see what treasures we can find - or Bolsa Chica Chica Chica BOOM!!! See you soon. 🙏💖🤗
I must say, I love the shirt! I really did like the pictures and video you got. Really nice plover pictures. You are much more stable hand holding than I am. I drink a lot of coffee. 🤣 I really like this combination. This has now become my go to combination, I think. I have also tired using my 100-500 with the 1.4x on the R5 MKII, but I like the flexibility of the 200-800 better. For some subjects though the 100-500 is better because of the MFD alone.
I agree with you on all of it. I think that if I am going out to shoot little critters close up, I would take the 100-500 on the R7. For everything else - I am REALLY loving the combo too. It will be my main rig next week in Arizona for hummingbirds. And the shirt - cant go wrong with a sunflower!!! Thank you Jeff - see you in a couple of weeks. 🙏🤗💖
Tough call - depends on the body it is pared with at this point. Up until this body, I have enjoyed the 200-800 on the full frame bodies but not on crop bodies. My goto was the 100-500 with the 1.4. This lens for the most part, sat in a case and I was going to sell it. Then I put it on the R5 Mark II and it seems such an amazing paring. I am shooting humming birds in Arizona next week and this will be my main rig. I will have the R7 with the 100-500 for close up insects, but this paring...... yes. Tough call at least for me. 🙏💖🤗
Oh no, it is AMAZING. This paring is simply off the charts amazing even at F9. I was going to get rid of this lens..... until I put it on the R5 Mark II. From what I am reading in the comments coming in from those that have used it, it is a HUGE winner. Even low light morning in the fog as I was shooting this morning and yesterday morning... win win win. And even though I am not crazy about this body over about say 6000 ISO, I watch the shutter speed and keep it in the 1000 range - beautiful shots. I still come home with 99+% of in focus shots. Not perfect and I may be pushing the number a little, but I am looking for character expressions, not in focus but most are..... even in the low light. Best combo I have used in a LONG time and it will be my main rig shooting hummingbirds in Arizona next week under trees and shadows. It is AWESOME and I was surprised - blown away really even in low light. . 🙏🤗💖
I may understand that the lens performance is better on the R5M2 but you don't get the 1250mm reach you get on the R7 and it is quite expected that you pay for that reach with a lesser performance. You will still get awesome stills with an awesome reach.
I have used this on many bodies - R7, R50, R8, R6II, R5, R3, R5II. I was not satisficed with what I was getting on the crop bodies - just did not meet my standards and what I wanted. I like d it on all the full frame but still did not give me what I want. However, I LOVE LOVE LOVE it on the R5II. The 800mm is my favorite focal length - it works for me so that meets that. It has a zoom and most of the time, I shoot my zooms at full extension and primes are my preference when I can. But his combo to me is my favorite paring right now. I am glad I did not get rid of it. It fits that way and what I shoot. 🙏🤗💖
Interesting that you don’t get great results from the R7, I use that lens on both R8 and R7 and I can’t say I have noticed any difference in image quality, plus the extra reach is amazing, I think the crop body is a much better way of gaining extra reach than using a teleconverter on a full frame. Nice video John, thanks..
@@ptvfr800 Thank you. I do get some sharp shots but not as I want I actually prefer the IQ of the 100-500 with the 1.4 even at F10 and only 700mm. We each look for something different in the gear we use and that is OK. On the r7, the 100-500 puts me right at my favorite 800mm and just really works for me. Now if Canon came out with a stacked BSI crop sensor body...... that would be AWESOME. LOL. 💖🤗
@@JonnyPink65 absolutely, keeping my fingers crossed for R7 mkii. Meantime, I love still using my 90d with 100-400L mkii with 1.4tc. Keep up the good work JP..
