Received it from my son for Christmas, phenomenal sound and easy to move around, in doors out doors. Not that heavy! Obviously I didn’t buy it myself but I would have eventually. My entire house is setup for Sonos, every room, every tv. Love the system and how it interacts with daily life, kinda like have Phillips hue lighting.
thanks for making this video as well as the original one a year or so before. I bought the Move purely on its reputation vs a ton of research. its my first Sonos and I learned a lot by watching your videos.
I started one day with an impulse buy of the Sonos Beam. The next day I bought 2 Ones and the Sub. I then bought the Move and then the Arc. Replaced the Ones with 5's and now the Bean and 1's are in the bedroom Damm impulse buying :)
Really enjoying my Sonos move, I found one second hand used but in perfect new condition for half the price. I wouldn’t have bought it at full retail just for my own personal reasons that I feel I didn’t want to spend the full price for a portable speaker. With that said, I still think its worth it if you want to spend the money on it. Its great
I work in a gatehouse so I listen to music or a podcast all the time. This speaker is too perfect for me. It fills the outside when I want it to, and it easily fills the large gatehouse I love it.
Appreciate the vid, and the one-year on update. I do wish you showed how easy (or clunky as has been the case for me) it is to switch to/from WiFI/BT. But your unbiased professionalism is appreciated. I should add, after 11 years of SONOS speakers, my new Move has easily become my favorite. I wish I hadn't taken the initial step to SONOS portability w the Roam, which is now just a dust bunny.
Got my Sonos Move yesterday and I am delighted. The rich sound of the device is very convincing and so is the functionality of the microphones. Was playing music in the living room and i could still control the device via voice when being in the sleeping room.
Just upgraded my system to S2 and picked up a Move in the process. I'm impressed with the build quality (although I expected that from Sonos), it sounds great, and I'm happy that it has USB type-C. Looking forward to using it around the pool this summer + bringing it along on family picnics.
Hello from America. Excellent review and I will purchase this device. The big takeaway for me was the Bluetooth turntable.. I must research this. Many thanks for this excellent video 👍😊
I’m very please with my Move… it’s a fantastic addition to my existing Sonos system. I use it to take into the backyard when we’re using our pool and/or just hanging out in the backyard. Two thumbs up 👍🏼👍🏼
I started off with my Move in the bedroom, grouped with a Sonos Beam. The auto Trueplay seemed to "get in the way" with the TV as the source. The Move would cut out completely for short periods of time when initially turn on. I suspect this was from the speakers were placed within the room and the auto Trueplay was having problems resolving the "best sound". To "solve" that problem I swapped the Move and a Play 5 from the living room. Everything is fine now. I use the Move in rooms that are not frequently used; basement, garage, patio. I plan to take it when I visit friends out of town. The Move is a great speaker.
Amazing sound, seems durable, battery life is good BUT: I too have experienced the battery drain even when I CONFIRMED that the speaker was completely off. Went from 87% to 2% in just over a day without use. I have no idea why this occurs and Sonos has yet to address the issue. Nitpicks: -You cannot use the Bluetooth feature straight out of the box. Sonos requires you to connect to WiFi (where the product is forced to be registered) before Bluetooth can be accessed. -It takes some time when powered on (from complete shutdown) to connect to wifi before you can use it or switch to Bluetooth. Perhaps as long as 20 seconds. -When powered on away from WiFi, the speaker STILL tries to connect to WiFi BEFORE allowing you to switch to Bluetooth. Annoying!
I would buy one if it didn’t still suffer with the fault where the battery drains even when switched off completely. Sonos claimed that a software update would fix it but they still haven’t 8 months later
thank you for muting the video for half a second when you said the word "alexa". in your last video every time you said "alexa" it would activate mine constantly so i'm glad you thought ahead for this video
Nice review. Just to update, it 'could' be connected to a TV via Bluetooth. I have tried it. Not recommended though as a sound bar is much better anyways. Cheers
Currently I have two Sonos moves for over a year. When using them singularly in the Bluetooth mode, the transition from WiFi to Bluetooth can be cumbersome. Also when battery goes dead the memory at times has been lost and a reset is necessary. Overall great sound, but Sonos’s Bluetooth technology seem a little bit antiquated. Still a fan. BTW it would be great to have a switch to control the DSP for voice and other audio preferences.
I don't understand why you can't stereo pair two Moves in Bluetooth mode like you can with other brands. Also why you can't use them as rear surround speakers. Does make sense.
I found that the Bose portable home speaker is much easier to operate on Bluetooth. The Sonos move says you can operate on Bluetooth but you have to go through a cumbersome setup on wifi. And if you don't have wifi you can't set it up to play on Bluetooth only
I can also connect my Move to my apple tv quite easily. Its pretty convenient to give my bedroom more boom, since my playbase is in my Living room configuration.
I have another question….i use my moves with my ray sound bar. I noticed that the sound keeps interrupting…it cuts Why? I thought i could use the moves with the ray to create a surround effect but i cant even setup surround with the moves,,,,any advice? Why the sound coming from the move keep interrupting while paired with the ray?😢
The *Move* is an outstanding speaker which we love as a speaker, we do have an issue though in the app. We find that when my wife is playing music through the move speaker when I connect aswell it seems to not want to play my tracks at 1st ? I have to go in a few times to select it from my other *SONOS* equipment to get it working & it has still dropped out a few times. *SONOS* app was so much better before the update, I think they really need to look at this if possible.
I am looking for a premium speaker pair under my covered outdoor terrace. Would two Sonos Moves be suitable? I would be interested in any other solutions you would recommend.
Like your videos but I would say your off on TV - yes you can connect it (just not the traditional method). If you have an Apple TV you can airplay the audio to it. Also, if you have a Roku you can play audio thru the iPhone app and when you have it setup to Bluetooth to the Move you can play tv audio thru that too.
Cant charge with my MacBook pro charger Thats bullcrap I bought my 2 moves 2 months ago i regret it I wish i could take em back and get the move 2 :( Can i dual pair using my iPhone personal hotspot if i dont have wifi?
Hi Dimos, unfortunately the Sonos Sub cannot be paired with the Move as the app won't let you. They have done this because they think it could cause usability issues like when you take the Move to a different room, the Sub is left in the same place. You can stereo pair 2 Moves however which will give you more sound stage and the bass can be increased in the Sonos App in the EQ settings. I hope this helps!
@@smarthomesounds Firstly thanks for the prompt rely. This has helped me greatly and saved me from making a big mistake. Will the new Sonos 5 group with the Move... or is it that nothing will group with the Move due to the same issue you mentioned about the sub?
Hi, yes it would be absolutely fine to keep the Move docked on the charging base permanently as it uses "trickle charge" so won't affect the performance of the battery in the long term. Hope that helps!
Great video. I wasn’t aware of the Move previously. I have a rather large area around a pool and would like to pair 4 of these together. Is this possible or should I look at other options?
You say in the video that the move can’t be used as a tv speaker. Is this for sure?? What if I had an Apple TV and chose the move as an airplay speaker. Surely that would work, or no?
Yes, AirPlay 2 from an Apple TV would be the only way around it but seeing as the Move has been designed to be used as a portable speaker, it still isn't going to sound great as a TV speaker.
I have just acquired a Move and am quite impressed. I am tempted to add another and use as a stero pair. Is there a wifi hifi unit I could interface with them to play CD's/local radio stations to use like a normal hifi with the bonus of being able to move the speakers around the house and garden?
Hi Dave, yes there's something called the Sonos Port which you can connect to your HiFi and CD player via line in and then group to your Sonos Moves for portable CD audio! We've done a review of the Port on our channel. I hope that helps!
Loved the move when I first got it. It worked easily with Airplay 2 and my HomePods. Then it suddenly quit connecting. I can occasionally get it to connect if I take the HomePods out of the mix, but that wasn't the point of getting it. I want the same music playing inside the house and out on my deck. It's good as a great sounding Bluetooth speaker, but not as functional as I really need it to be.
Great review with FAQs answered, Thank you. I probably will hold off for this exact unit for now. I hope that either this current unit or its next iteration has some added features such as synching two via Bluetooth or that has more hardwire connections or even higher IP rating (i.e. 67) and maybe even a slightly larger size option. I intend to use it around home but also on the patio deck or when camping with trailer (inside or outside). Otherwise an almost perfect product for me, though lacking some of that extra bass I like (a little more please). And maybe it could support ALAC or a aptX version of Bluetooth codec.
Hello, so playing from the turntable to move using Bluetooth. With this set up, can you also configure to hear the sound to other sonos speaker in another room?
Hi Eric, as this would be a Bluetooth connection, you can't share this audio on your other Sonos speakers at the same time. You would need a Sonos speaker with a line in connected to a turntable that you can then share the turntable audio to other Sonos speakers over WiFi. Hope that helps!
How would you compare the sound of the move to the 5? (for example quality @ half volume & max verses both). Currently have a 5 & sub but instead of getting a second 5, I am considering a move because of its portability. Thanks for the great video & other useful information

Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... The Sonos Move was (easily) one of the Best purchases we made last year. Don’t be put off by the cost, it’s entirely worth it! 👍🏼😀

While the Move sits in the charging cradle, does it bypass the batteries when playing music?
I would buy two in a heartbeat if they could be used for rears with the beam. So silly. Would be perfect for open concept kitchen / family room areas.
Hopefully with software. What a silly "move" not too.
100% very disappointed in this. Wanted another and now thinks about not keeping the one I have
I have had nothing but problems with mine. Going back to hardwired whole house system. Beam works great, Move sucks.
I would buy one if it didn’t still suffer with the fault where the battery drains even when switched off completely. Sonos claimed that a software update would fix it but they still haven’t 8 months later

Would be nice it could stream the bluetooth via sonosnet
You can now check battery life on Sonos app on Bluetooth
I’m impressed with your returns policy - ‘customer didn’t use it as much as they’d thought..” 😃
Great video, I just purchased a 2nd Sonos Move.
You said you can’t connect your TV to this speaker as there is no audio in port. Couldn’t you connect it to your TV if it has Bluetooth?
I had to rewind. A 6 year warranty lol that’s awesome
You guys make TOP videos, one of my favs
Is that a red sonos one in she shelf?
I found that the Bose portable home speaker is much easier to operate on Bluetooth. The Sonos move says you can operate on Bluetooth but you have to go through a cumbersome setup on wifi. And if you don't have wifi you can't set it up to play on Bluetooth only

So between Sonos Move and Bose Portable Smart Speaker, which one is better
Can this be used with a PC using blutooth for the primary sound output source?
yes
Like your videos but I would say your off on TV - yes you can connect it (just not the traditional method). If you have an Apple TV you can airplay the audio to it. Can you confirm if the move work with Apple TV 4K (2021) model?
i like my one . . i do worry about how it could be damaged with the grill wrapped like that but that is what you get for cool looks
Can this portable speaker be paired with

Very cool 😎 thank you guys
Why does my move connected to airplay , play out of sync with the film ?
Well can’t you use it as a tv speaker if the tv has Bluetooth?
What about connecting move to the TV that has airplay2 inside?
The Move is Airplay 2 enabled so as long as your TV can send the audio via Airplay 2 this should work.
