13;05 that famous boxer got a broken nose and there is an interview with Honor where she reveals that a number of stunt doubles got knocked out by that neck chop and bless the ladies they were pioneers for all that followed. As someone who has spent a lot of my life doing martial arts, I believe in Honors Techniques and execution of them the most.
They were all amazing. They were trailblazers, the things we take for granted today would never have happened if they hadn't opened the door . I salute them all 👍👍

Cyd was 5'10 tall, a judo expert, in early 20's at the time and extremely strong. She was to effortlessly lift and throw some very big guys around and make it look good.

As much as I loved Emma Peel the most, the best fight scenes of a plausible and gutsy nature for me were Cathy Gale in the graveyard scene and Tara King on the lawn with the big bearded lug!

As a young lad I only caught the end of Tara's reign then Purdey whose style of fighting was mainly kicks. It was brilliant to see girls getting their share of the action, Purdey for me 🙂
Best Fight was Honor/Cathy v Jackie Pallo in the Graveyard (Mandrake).. Cathy in her LEATHER Outfit was superb & actually really knocked out Jackie when she Kicked his jaw.. Honor was a Real Judo Black Belt , the Fight scenes were more realistic.. She was the Best.. Emma's Fight in Death at Bargain Prices was Fantastic also..

Yes, those are good fights. My favorite Tara fights are those in "All Done With Mirrors", especially the final one in the lighthouse. Also the running kick & tomeonage at the end of "Invasion Of The Earthmen" are very athletic & sexy.

As far as kicks go i think the one Mrs Peel does in " Something funny happened" takes some beating,she times it to perfection kicking the gun out of Ms Blair's hand.It evened the contest and it proved to be the end of the line for the gorgeous Ms Blair.
All time favorite fight scene? Tara in the optics factory in " My Wildest Dream". Very realistic! While the guy may have gotten away, he had to be hurtin'!!
We have to thank the Americans for the fact that any Avengers series were filmed in Colour, as they insisted on that as part of the deal that they would buy the series. That then gave us 24 colour episodes from the season 5, 1967 Emma Peel era, and 33 colour episodes from the season 6, 1968-69 Tara King era.........and boy did colour do the Avengers true justice.
Lumley has said she tried to incorporate all the other women's fighting styles....and it truly showed....particularly Tara Kings, who was a " brawler".
2:34-2:56, 14:43-14:53, & 15:04-15:10. Best fem-dom fight scene ever televised. 5:02 is not far behind mainly because of the finishing kick which is not included here.
There are quite a few TV sites where you can watch episodes, but you have to pay. There are many Avengers episodes free to watch on the Dailymotion site, but you have to endure many adverts, and the prints are reversed, so as to not break the copy right laws.
Thank you for sharing this. I feel that Emma Peel (Diana Rigg) was my favorite. I liked Cathy Gale, but Ms. Peel hooked me into watching the series. Couldn't stand Tara King so I stopped watching.

Idiot......Thorson didn't kill the franchise off. It was because of the popularity of Thorson that the series was revived in the 70's as the New Avengers, due to the French love affair with Tara King. The French put up the money for a new series and wanted Thorson back, but apparently she declined, due to not wanting a long contract. Also Rigg not surprisingly declined as well.............we then ended up with Lumley & Hunt. Yes Rigg was excellent but her second series, the colour one was not script wise to the same quality as her first season.
See, the creators of the new Batwoman series should take a few pages from these kick-butt females and the series itself. You don't have to remove the w and the o to have an action hero(ine) be a woman. These fights were fun and you CARE about them, knowing they will prevail over the bad guys/girls. Neither these characters nor the countless others through tv history that featured crimes fighting females, lose their femininity to take on a man. Love Ruby Rose in John Wick, The Meg, XXX: The Return of Zander Cage and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. But for Batwoman, it comes across cold and unenjoyable to watch her character kick but, unlike these characters. Sorry if this is more of a comment on Batwoman and not the Avengers😴😁. And where is Purdey? She was awesome as well😎😎😎!

What killed the show at the end of the 60's really was down to one thing........the US network ABC stupidly putting the Avengers up against "Laugh In" which at the time was the top show in the US, and had led to many other rival top shows like Star Trek being cancelled. The thing is it was the American money that had provided for the big budget colour shows of the Avengers, and it is ironic that if it had not been for American money in the first place, the Avengers would of ended after the first Emma Peel season (the b&w one). Shame but it all came down to money in the end, as the ratings for the show were still very high elsewhere in the world....... btw i agree that the Rigg fight scenes in season 5 looked quite lame, but that was probably due to the American insistence that the violence be toned down a bit. Whereas the young Thorsen really threw herself into her fight scenes in season 6, as can be seen in the video clips.
You couldn't be more wrong; many times the fights were more realistic than todays far-fetched, ridiculous mid-air encounters. And, the music only added to the fight. Can you imagine The Avengers without that terrific Laurie Johnson music - especially during the fight scenes, NEVER!

Totally disagree with Perth45 , liked all the girls but never found the Rigg colour series fight scenes convincing, much preferred Thorson.
Rigg colour series sold around the world.
