G'day, Lee, the two videos you made are just great. It brought back a lot of memories and I thank you. I live in Australia now, but I was born on Spike Island. My dad, Bill Riley, was the lock keeper and in the other video he appears (in the second photograph), he is the one with the white shirt, leaning back a little on the swing bridge. Some priceless footage there Lee...never seen the Mersey so high... Shot in the dark here....there is the remains of what looks to be a coaster in the river just outside what was the old West Bank dock...looks like it was cut up there.... I would love to know something about this ship or better still see some pictures of it...I wonder do you know anything about it, Thanks for posting this fine video. Nick from Runcorn.
One of my earliest memories is going over what was then the new bridge and seeing sparks coming from the cutting torches of the guys dismantling the towers of the transporter.
