The passion & commitment were real and allowed him to compose Legendary Tracks of Black Metal. Timeless Masterpieces that some of us will worship til the day we die
absolutely and no matter what he's into now (I can't get into his solo stuff), I'll never forget the impact old Emperor had on me. And for that he has my eternal respect.
It's halfway between Western Christianity and Prechristian Religions. Very interesting stuff. Very Norwegian but I think we as Americans can learn a lot from these spiritual ideas and maybe open our own eyes to the world through this music aswell. I don't agree with everything he says but there's a lot of insight there. i also FUCKING LOVE the inclusion of a more academic theologist in this video.
Yes, it was "Music TeleVision" back then. No idea what the "M" represents nowadays. One example among others of a superb idea & concept sold out and monetized. Just because of greed.
I'm a Christian but I find church burnings... necessary. Idk I find the need to have a relationship with God rather than share that need to a bunch of judgemental leeches.
Arson and terrorism is never warranted, whether you’re Christian or not and as a Christian, you should know that such acts would very much be deemed sinful and this in contradiction with your beliefs. I’m also deeply Christian, but would never resort to destroying the places of worship of other belief systems. You don’t spread the word of Christ through fear, but through love and acceptance.
So why destroy these buildings if it´s all in your heart? I don´t understand why religious people always insist on forcing their beliefs on others. How about not seeing it through religion? There are real things as well, such as cultural heritage, which has actual value to mankind, in the future ever more. It is wrong to destroy things that are sadly capable of getting decayed all on their own without effort, by simply the passing of time, also known as taphonomic process.
He was an edgy teenager back then, so I'm pretty sure he looks back at some of it with cringe, but of course it's part of what got him to where he is now.
These guys made money and were being popular by "selling" somehow diabolical as an image . In fact, they were just against Cristianity, and thats all... Although they played nice music on their early day's...

To think he was only 18(!) years old here. Such maturity already as a person and composer.

This segment makes Ishan look like he lives in the world of The Loss and Curse of Reverence video. Pretty cool.
Ihsahn's solo work shows just how strong of a songwriter and musician he is too.
