Excavation Project | PHASE 3 | Road FINISHED, Mountain RE-SHAPED

  • THIS WAS A HUGE Transfermation to our MOUNTAINSIDE!! Before we get into even bigger projects we need to get this mountain reshaped and contoured so we can put in our last garden of the season. Our tractor was the very first piece of equipment acquired and still to this day, it's used almost daily. Moving this much material is tedious and time-consuming, however, there is more to move after this, and re-shaping this area of the mountain will make our life so much easier in years to come.

    Watching Mark on that excavator I think of artists that call themselves 'landscape painters'. They should watch Mark and see a real Lanscape Painter at work. Awesome job. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

    The effectiveness of your "girder grader" really became apparent in your zoomed out time lapse. Great result!

    No matter what you do Marc, you have a great vision in your head and make it work for you. THE best thing in doing what you're doing is that you can see you're a perfectionist and your own worst critic. you always leave your work looking AMAZING. Thanks for bringing us along with your journey. Stay safe on the Ranch you guys

    It's satisfying to watch the instant gratification of your work. You're very talented, not only as an operator, but as a visionary who can see the potential of what you can do with the land. Kudos to you.

    A lot of dirt moved and it looks great. Over in Wales when they cut a new road in the forest they pack it down then water it with a sprinkler bar, the sun doe's the rest. Some of those roads have been around for quite some time. Takes work but the cost is nothing just dirt, clay and the odd bit of shale. Good stuff, thanks for posting....

    You have a great eye to be able to visualise what you want and then great skill to make it happen. Once it is settled, gravelled and planted up it will look amazing. I love the idea of an area to grow supplemental pig feed. Those pigs will be so sweet eating such good food. Ola will have the cherry bushes interspersed with some amazing colour. In a couple of years it will look as if it’s always been that way. 😎

    Who'da thunk boot scootin' music would work for dirt scootin? Great music on this one. If It'd been me in that cab, I'd have been listening to that music on my noise cancelling headphones, with a little Stevie Ray and Clapton, and some ZZ Top mixed in for good measure . . .

    You spent more on diesel than you saved on gravel here? x)

    • @joeschmoe209
      @joeschmoe209 5 днів тому +1

      Burning that red diesel can’t be all that expensive

    • @MountainMapleRanch
      @MountainMapleRanch  5 днів тому +1

      It certainly seemed like that might be the case; however, It took about 2 hrs to grub it all up and there were about 1.5-2 truckloads. My cost for that gravel (NOT including Fuel) was around $240 and 1 Hr roundtrip per load ($480 + 2 hrs + Fuel). My fuel on the Ex is around 1.5-2 Gal/Hr so around 4 Gals @ 3.75/gal so it's definitely worth it.

      I got it parked. I think it will take me more then 30 days to really get it fixed, it will most likely be my winter project, because so much has to get done this summer.
