Is there a time with pastels where you can't fix a mistake or change something? I know with oils you can always scrape it off and repaint an area. Can you always redraw an area or change something with pastels?
I think pastel is much more forgiving than colored pencil. One of the reasons why I love it so much. Another reason is being able to work dark to light, as in oil painting.

Don Firminger so wonderful! We’re using Sennelier la carte sanded paper. I prefer “dark gray “ color for the paper. I’m looking forward to seeing you soon this year.
Fantastic! But my brain is on overload! I can't imagine doing any portrait without a blending stump. Ok, I'm going to cry.

Pastel is very forgiving - You correct my own drawing all the time.
