The Hi-Lo Rig. Fall Weakfish NYC Pier Fishing
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- Fall brings about all kinds of species change ups in NYC. Some species head South as the water cools, others cruise offshore. The mullet run kicks off. But during the transition period, you can have some really fun days on slow tides. Even with stiff Northeast Winds and dirty water, you can still have a great time on the piers.

Hey Bob! Nice video on the weak fish. They are actually pretty good depending on how you prepare them. I had them in a soup / curry style and it was really good.
I made the curry style like you suggested today and it came out super good. Appreciate the suggestion AZ!!
Glad you liked it. 👍 @@BobAquatic
Which pier is this? Is it wheelchair accessible?
Great video! Shrimp really does catch everything 🍤 🎣
It works super well. Live shrimps incredible , thank you for watching girlfinfishing
Weakfish have to be 16 inches 1 a day. Thanks for the great report awesome to know they are there.I live right there i'll try it soon.
Give it a try, the weakfish are all over it seems
Atlantic croaker and Spot croaker don't have any regulations in NY since they're both not native to our waters. Eventually Spot might since we've been seeing them more and more every year. Looks like they're gonna be a permanent summer species.
You'll find tons of Spots if you fish Queens
Thank you Fishpunch! I like eating the spot, that is good to know about the Atlantic croaker, I checked the ny regulations and did not see them on there either. Appreciate you for watching bud!
@@BobAquatic don't be surprised if you start seeing more Atlantic croaker here over the next few years. I've noticed the population of a lot of the none native species increased a lot this year. Spot was the more noticeable one
Hey! Recently bought some bucktail lures and epoxy jigs from your links. Would you use them on the East River? Considering all the junk on the river bottom, I’m worried about snagging.
what up! I really appreciate the support, thank you Se0ultrain! Those are pretty pricey lures so I would be careful bouncing or touching bottom in the river. Maybe try working more mid-water column if you do. There is a lot of snags and a good chance you'll lose one
@@BobAquatic Thanks for the tips!
Great work shrimp does catches everything also the bees love em 😂 to no regulation on spot use as bait for stripers
Thank you boatntcount! The bees go wild for the shrimps.
Nice vid. There are a lot of weakfish, croaker, porgies and don't forget the endangered dogfish around! Tight lines!
So many doggies roaming the ocean streets.
@@BobAquatic Too many!!
Bob more fishing videos please ! I can’t wait for your next video Bro 👍
They are pretty fun to make. I appreciate you watching rdh!
Great Video!!
Coney never let's you down tight lines 🎣
It's such a chill place. Once you figure out the way the tides work there, its actually a pretty solid spot too
Are you fishing at the Sheepshead Bay pier?
Why are these fish so tiny?
Those 'bees' might be yellowjacket wasps, multiple bites from just one unlike bees. Be careful.
They like to land on the reel, it's pretty freaky. Hopefully the cold weather sends them away, been everywhere
Another relaxing trip to the shores of NYC with our fishing buddy Bob! Great video.
Thank you bud! The fishing has been pretty solid lately and will only get more and more wild
Buddy! Them bees…..I couldn’t get them off of me over by Red Hook
They really are everywhere, freak me out when they swarm like that.
Great video. What bait is good for catching striped bass/blues?
@@Pokeirox best bait hand down is bunker or bloodworm but blue won't hit
Agreed, probably live bunker or anything live lined like eels. If its shore bound no live well then fresh bunker, bloodworm, mackerel, clam
Scuba diver on demon time lol keep it coming bob 🙌🏾 no diddy
They had some wild suits with the tubes and no tanks. Pretty cool job in NYC, never seen them do that before. I think they were underwater welding the pilings. Thank you for watching quarmelo1023!
Like always another great video and action.
Hi bori 😂
Thank you Bori!!
Do you enjoy eating spots?
They taste so good! I like eating the smaller bottom fish or whatever is in abundance
nice I can't wait to fish in nyc
Its a fun time, hope you get a chance to roll through and try
Great job once again Bob! Maybe you should do a weak fish catch and cook 😂
I did one today, uploading it now. Thank you for watching James!
@@BobAquatic heck yeah! Looking forward to it
What rod do you use?
Thank you for watching, if you check the description box its got a list/link to all the gear used in the video
Does anyone know how to keep shrimp on the hook? Whenever I cast with shrimp it just falls off in the water in 1 sec
Have you tried smaller pieces? Taking the shell off helps too. Threading it through the hook a few times helps too instead of one straight hook through, if that makes sense.
they sell bait threads that you can use to secure it on, heyskipper i believe sells clear bait thread that ive heard works wonderfully
Nice video bob. You are diligent. Good sugar, honey, iced, tea
Thank you brothersinbait!
Are u able to send a link for the hooks u use on your heavy minnow for porgy? Thanks
There should be a link in the description for them but its VMC saltwater single hook
@@BobAquaticcan’t find the link or the hook online
@@BobAquaticit’s not an owner hook right?
@@_N4te_ Check the description box on the "The Minnow jig. Fall Run Fishing Lure Fun" video. That is the VMC hook I use for jigs
Do you plan on going for striper soon and making a vid?
Oh heck yeah. Striper is my favorite fish to catch. Got skunked the other night off camera with them trying pretty hard but it'll connect soon
For some reason people leave dogfish to die on the pier
they eat the baby fish. been on many party boats that kill all dogfish that get pulled in
@@HellolBuffalol how do i do that humanely?
@@fireball7677 just a quick and well placed puncture to the brain. but you can use the meat. it says online that dogfish meat is often used as a cod substitute
@@HellolBuffalol ya I’ve eaten it before and personally I think sea robins taste more like cod
@@fireball7677 Sea robins do taste great but out of all the North Eastern species, believe it or not skates are one of the best ive ever tasted. Another "garbage" species that is a secret delicacy
