Thank you man, I'm a life long Long islander who moved to PA 7 years ago. Watching you catch, Bergalls, King fish, Porgies, Hackle Heads, Et. Al, is like visiting old friends....
Thank you for watching Keith. I can relate to that feeling of a fishing visual bringing back nostalgia to good times. Fishing is always there for you when you come back to visit NY
When I lived in NYC, we never had those fish like grunts (pig fish) croaker, spot croaker, whiting (kingfish) and the return of some sheepshead. Where I live now in the South, we catch those all the time. Waters have been getting cleaner and warmer up there the last 20 years and it shows
@@fishingjimcolon4339 oh yeah the water really cleaned up. If your into fishing northeast, climate change has been shaking things up. The spots migrated really far north this year, well past NY
Bob you are my Sensei !!! your video fishing adventures have made me drift away from Bass fishing to Saltwater more & more each day & baby I am having a blast doing it... today alone I caught 13 Spot Croakers......... each morning I wake up with excitement to cast out & see what surprises the oceans, bays, rivers will give me Thank you for sharing your Masterful journeys......more more more please!!
Hey Coney! Thank you for watching. Its nice to mix it up and freshwater rocks too. If you don't mind sharing, what's your rig for the croaker? I tried to target them the other day for a quick lunch but wasn't doing something correct. Trying to avoid buying worms for them but might have to, seems like thats what they want in the bay.
@@BobAquatic For Spots/Croaker I use a Hi/Lo rig with a 1 oz sinker & two EAGLE CLAW Lazer Super Snell 6" hooks for bait use Clam or small pieces of Fishbites Bloodworm try it good luck out there
Great video. When my sons were young like 7 and 9 we would go to Sandy hook and catch Kingfish. Then we would go home which was a 2hr drive and throw them on the grill with some potatoes and a loaf of French bread and have an incredible dinner. That brings back some great memories they are both close to 40 yrs old now. Again thanks for the video
Love that story big buck! Was a nice visual. Kingfish are wonderful eating, just big enough that you only need one or two. Appreciate the comment and for watching the episode bud
Nice catch. Love the 2nd one that was making all the noise. Was probably cursing you out... Lol. When I got my first few king fish, I thought those were baby finish and let them go until later on after some research I started keeping the size you kept. Good catch. I was I was able to catch large black seabass from the shore.
The grunts are so funny. I am not sure if it was one or not but they all make that noise. Must've gotten pushed in from the south and enjoyed its stay in NYC. On a Grunt Tour of The Northeast
@@BobAquatic I wonder if anyone had cought and added to their aquarium. I bet they would look awesome. Coney Island should create a local fish species tank that showcase all the local fish or even the migratory fish. That would be interesting. I remember visiting kingsborough community college long time ago where they kept some sharks. Not sure if they still have that tank.
@@AZ-NY I have never been to the coney aquarium but I’m sure they got something like that. Most local aquariums have exhibits like that, if not they totally gotta get on that. I gave up on fish pets but it’s fun when you get into it and the tanks running happy
Hey bob, I live on the west coast. Southern Oregon to be specific. I have only fished conneticut. My wifes family is from there. I have no Idea as to what is tasty from the fish you are catching. the videos are great!
my new job i have dec 22 to jan 10th off every year so ive been going to nyc i know its the dead of winter but any expiriance fishing during that time of year.
Ones a soft bait and ones a hard bait. If I was on an island and could have only one bait, it’d be shrimp. But better or worse isn’t really a great description, they have different applications
Ok soi was at Sheepshead Bay, I tried snapper poppers, cast master, diamond jigs, spook jrs. And I couldnt catch a single snapper what gives ? Can you do a good show us how it's done on artificial?
Fishing is cool and all, but you're aware that these fish have absorbed untreated sewage, right? The EPA has issued warning statements about consuming fish from NYC waters

Kingfish taste wonderful. Give the bacon a try sometime, I was amazed at how rich it made the fish taste. Appreciate you watching boatdntcount!

Hey, that's my launching spot !!!
It is a wonderful spot to launch, easy access and a pretty view
my new job i have dec 22 to jan 10th off every year so ive been going to nyc i know its the dead of winter but any expiriance fishing during that time of year.
Yeah you can still catch. Mostly white perch, striped bass, sea bass, oyster toad. They all bite but its slower
What do you think works better, shrimp or sand fleas?
Ones a soft bait and ones a hard bait. If I was on an island and could have only one bait, it’d be shrimp. But better or worse isn’t really a great description, they have different applications
Are the fish safe to eat?
Hey Bob where on the east river is this spot at ?
Hey do you know any good fishing spots near Williamsburg Brooklyn ?
The whole river front is good, just hit up the piers and have fun!
Ok soi was at Sheepshead Bay, I tried snapper poppers, cast master, diamond jigs, spook jrs. And I couldnt catch a single snapper what gives ? Can you do a good show us how it's done on artificial?
Did you try a tiny little swimbait? That would be my last resort to see if they are even in the water.
where at on the east river do you go to?
It's all kinda the same, just hop around and try different areas. The fish move around and the fun is in the adventure.
@@BobAquatic do you ever come up to the upper east side towards the east river?
What's the name of that pier
x2
Guy looks like Matt Walsh
Porgy has alot of bones 🦴
@@kiddell2222 they do but not as bad as some other species. They’re fairly easy to fillet boneless if you don’t want to go whole
Thanks for the advice 💯
As someone who was around the lower east side in the early 80s-
Gotta ask-
Have you ever fished with a rodent as bait?
Yours Truly,
GEG
I have! Not successful but I will continue to try. More of a freshwater thing.
Fishing is cool and all, but you're aware that these fish have absorbed untreated sewage, right? The EPA has issued warning statements about consuming fish from NYC waters
Yeah its all good, I mostly eat the fish on the ocean side and bays. Not the river, just catch and release over there. Thank you for watching!
You let that little fish boss you around like that
It sure was a strong one!
Consider yourself being such a popular youtuber, I think an NRX or Conquest rod would suit you better. What do you say?
@@leo-js2tb for sure, those rods are incredible. One day. Nicest Loomis I have is a pro green. Worth every penny
