- These 5 mistakes on your SOP will kill your application. I see almost every applicant making them and it's important to know them before you submit your Statement of Purpose. You cannot afford to miss this if you are going in for your bachelors, masters, or Ph.D. overseas.

1. Dont put everything in your SOP. Lower the redunduncies. Be consise, short and specific.
2. Instead, focus on how did your projects help you grow, what are your contributions and the things that you did.
3. Do not include summaries of books, do not overdo or prove or convince on a certain topic. Focus on selling yourself.
4. Talk about how can you contribute in the university where you are applying and tell why the program is right fit for you.
5. Customize the draft of your SOP when you are trying to apply to different universities.
Thank you for shortlisting the video's recommendations.

saved me my 1 min 59 secs of my life
Hey, the video is very informative but would like to suggest that you should add some texts or images while you explain topics! Or write them down while you explain! It's kinda difficult to follow the video after sometime! And it's difficult to remember all that you said in the video! Just a suggestion! Great video! ❤️

What do you recommend for a PhD applicant who had no research experience in BSc, only a dissertation in MSc, and now an official research stint at an Institute which is of not much avail.
I used 11 font, Calibri, 1.5 pages...is it fine ? Words approx 1300 words
If mention about my first project and how it helped me to become a good team member and work in teams. Will that be ok?
Thank you this was really insightful, I feel confident now am done watching videos!
I hope it is not the coronavirus XD 14:36

Hey, you are making others grow with you, keep it up.
Hey , actually I missed one word while writing sop and i started the another line is it going to trouble me?
"Talk about how can you contribute in the university where you are applying and tell why the program is right fit for you " --> this part is what am not getting, in general what can I say that I will bring in to the university ? I am trying to avoid my undergraduate degree as its not in line with my choice of program .
I have an SOP that demands at least 3000 words to write.
In my sop i wrote canada tution fees is affordable than above mentioned countries. But somehow i did not mention any country in the paragraphs. I wrote only other countries. Will visa officer reject my visa? Jus for this mistake? I m worried. Please Ma'am reply me please.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
not at all, if your rest if the SOP content is good, then you'll get a visa.
Thanks a lot man, very helpful. I have a question, I was planning on applying for some top schools for mech eng. (UC Berkeley, U Michigan, Georgia tech, UCLA), and I did my GRE around 1 week ago and got 314 (Verbal 152 and Quant 162) with a 4 in the writing. I feel that this score is too low (especially the verbal) for the universities I was aiming for. Do you recommend that I redo the GRE in early December, considering that deadlines are early-mid January? and how important is the GRE in the decision process for engineering courses?
Did you get in the schools of your choice, i am an aspiring mech eng phd
@@ngonidzashelesleyshangwa5480 Yes, I did end up getting a couple offers from the universities I wanted, thank God. However, I applied to master's programs, so I'm not sure if I can be of much help. All I can say about the GRE is that don't give it too much importance, as long as you get 315-320+ if you're aiming for top universities then you are more than good enough, it is just something universities use to eliminate people with unusually low scores (
For the year 2020 most of the universities have waived off GRE consideration
@@AppleTech90 so hows life now, can u update me about yourself ❤
@@AryanShetty-z3z wow, thanks for taking me back to this comment, time flies. I’m about to complete my MS (hopefully), took it a bit slow as I also worked in industry during the first year, currently considering a PhD or working on a business :) how about you?
Can u make this video in hindi?

Thanks bro!
Thanks bro
Hi Yash,
Thanks for the informative video, I have a few questions regarding the above,
1) Say I want to work with Prof. A in a university and mention this in my SOP, suppose Prof. A does not have any vacancies in his/ her research group, will that result in me getting rejected? or will I be considered by another Prof. working in the same/ similar research area?
2) If I specify my interest to work with two or more Profs.( in the same area of research), will it have a negative impact on my application as they may think I am unsure?
I think you should talk to the professor first, and then accordingly write your SOP.
informative 🙂
Hey, bro I mistakenly write my 10 score 74.2 but actually that is 75.6 is there any problem
