It's sad enough leaving the wilderness after a hike but leaving it for a season is even more sad. The scenery was beautiful. I liked how the red leaves on the bushes contrasted against the nice blue lake.
Banger shots all over in this video! Wow! Standing in the God lights at the lake at 1:45. Really enjoyed transition shot at the 2:00 mark. Awesome video. If none of you have seen the original Lost Lake video I suggest you do so. Watch them back to back. It's awesome to see the difference. Trav, you have definitely grown as a cinematographer and a great story teller. Thanks for all your effort and hard work.
Totally agree, the cinematography is fantastic. You know what else I noticed? Travis is very careful with his choice of words. Then I watched Hyoh-Wu video and you show him swearing like a drunken marine. I cracked up when he called you a MFer for criticizing his choice of whiskey. Good times!
Ha! I do cuss in my videos, but I usually cut it out unless it needs to be in there. I send these videos to my aunts to watch so I cut out parts of it, but in real life I would give @IBTAT a run for his money!
@@blackoakpropertymaintenanc6981 yeah that's the dichotomy of our videos. Travis is amazing and capturing the beauty of the mountains and pulls off these great shots with out the aid of all the fancy smancy equipment and puts together a great story. Then you get the human element and some behind the scenes stuff and really get to see the fun that we have out on trail. As I have said before it amazes me that 2 or 3 youtubers can be on the same trail and yes you do get some commonalities, but each one of us tells the story a bit differently. That's why I enjoy going out with Trav and Kenny the Idahonian. Plus I seem to get wisdom dropped on me whenever we go out .
Travis, you have had the best season this year, I have thoroughly enjoyed it all. Fantastic views, lakes, etc. Thanks so much for all you have shared this season
Loved this one, Travis. Thanks for posting. Your passion for backpacking and all that it entails pours out of your videos and helps drive the rest of us to OUR next adventure. That is what it is all about, my friend. Tom
Travis, thanks so much for sharing this year's trips with us. I appreciate the large amount of time and effort that went into these vignettes. So well produced and edited! Already looking forward to next year!
A very laid back way for you to end this year's hiking season. Your drone video is getting more impressive with each video, keep it up! And thank you for all the content you post to keep us back easters day dreaming over the winter about our next trip to the western Rockies.
Nice hike Travis. Gorgeous fall colors and a pristine alpine lake. Thank you for sharing. Also a shout out to Joey Coconato (My Own Frontier) for providing a link to your channel.
Another well done trip and video. Beautiful shots thru out and the slow mo of Timber was so nice. Great way to end the season. Take care and have a Happy Holiday season, Al
Howdy Travis! Thanks for another great video! Just wanted to let you know that ever since I found your channel a couple years ago I have been watching all of your videos, most of them several times (haven't commented before). I'm an avid backpacker based out of Missoula and have been to many of the same places you like to go. You do an incredibly good job of taking us up into the mountains with you, and it is so excellent to be able to see these adventures- for the times when we aren't out there ourselves, or are slogging thru a long winter and dreaming about the next backpacking season. Hoping I run into you out there some day! Oh yeah-- been up to Lost Lake a couple times myself, but it has also been awhile. What a gorgeous place! Last time saw a black bear from the trail. Also came in from the other side once (Mink Peak TH). Keep up the great work!
How cool! Thanks for sticking with us! I make these videos for the same reason. I want to try to do more hikes down by Missoula. The Selway is a place I need to explore more!
Nice season closer! You had a great season! It’s been fun to watch! Slo mo of Timber was 🔥! Great video as usual! Maybe we can all get out one of these years! Cheers to a great year in the mountains!
Thanks, man! I'm guessing you're somewhat the same way, but with the colors like they were, I was running around like a kid in a candy store shooting all of the beautiful views.
5:52 Watching the shadow and its reflection in the water meet together - sublime! What a perfect end to the hiking season. For what it’s worth, I’ve done a couple overnighters to Cape Alava in late February. If you get a good weather window and are at the trailhead early or mid week, waking up in the middle of the night to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore (especially during a full moon) is an incredible experience. And having a bald eagle screeching as your morning wake up call… A couple miles down the beach, if you don’t mind a little bit of boulder hopping and pay attention to the tide, Wedding Rocks has some really cool petroglyphs from the natives who lived along the coast. I’ll see if I can find the video of our bald eagle wake up call and post it as well.
When I see the West Coast too busy & chaotic, I feel at peace here in Idaho(The Gem State has helped me find myself, I am thankful for that);I wouldn't mind visiting some friends in the Midwest and the Emerald Isle/Celtic Isles in time though(glad Spring is finally here); slan go foill(bye for now) 🌙
Thanks for posting and I hope to follow up with your efforts in the near future with a hike to Lost Lake! Do you always take your dog with you, and what precautions do you take when taking them?

One of these days we'll get you down to do a trip in the Bitterroots! Sara Long Legs & the Hounds!
Brilliant...the first thought,

Thanks man! The videos have come a long ways since that first trip into Lost Lake. Hopefully the stories are even better the next time I visit!

My dogs enjoyed it as well.
Beautiful drone work.
Thank you again!
If the dogs approve, that is good enough for us! Thanks for watching!
The fall colors are just amazing!
The mountains were putting on a show that weekend!
Short and sweet. Those red shrubs around camp are splendid. Fantastic country and video as always!
I'm definitely addicted to the fall colors!
A beautiful place to visit for the last one of the year.

I’ve had the bitterroot area on my list for sometime. This was beautifully edited and definitely has me considering something for next year.
The Bitterroots are something special to be sure! If you end up going, let me know! I'd love to meet up and do a trip together!
Absolutely beautiful photography and tine lapse .. love seeing Timber, this is a truly excellent video; thank you!

I've been trying to get better at my drone. There are some channels out there that really get amazing shots with them. It's a work in progress..
Beautiful video friend! Thanks for sharing. Really enjoyed following your backpacking season!
Thank you! I appreciate you following along our journey this season!

Wild to see that egg on the ground considering the time of year
I was thinking the same thing when I saw it!
Great photographic skills, what a great camping spot for the two of you.
You're too kind! That campsite is one of my all time favorites!

Backpacking along the ocean is something that I would like to do! I love it whenever I get to see an eagle. Doesn't happen enough!
Cool colors! :)

The Rocky Mountains (luckily) are kind of like going back in time. Hopefully they will always be that way!
Been thru there. Beautiful area
That state line ridge is one of my favorites!
many lakes to explore off the East side of it
Another great vid by "Old Crow" productions. You should have taken a side hike to Bonanza.
Bonanza Lakes are on the list! There are so many great spots in 'The Burn'!
Thanks for posting and I hope to follow up with your efforts in the near future with a hike to Lost Lake! Do you always take your dog with you, and what precautions do you take when taking them?
I don't always take my dog, but most of the time. I don't take any extra precautions when I take him. He packs his own food and everything he needs.
This was beautiful! Just curious if you carry bear spray with ya up there. And do you bear hang or use a bear vault? Thanks dude! NQU
Thanks! I always bring bear spray with me. I don't worry about my food too much in this area.
12 or 14 year Scotch?
12 yr only...
