Kirk took the time to respond to an email a few years back and we had a very friendly correspondence. Despite his antics on the platform, Kirk was always a real one. A man’s man who won multiple national and world titles, all while working a manual labor 9-5 job. As a laborer myself, I took many lessons from Kirk’s style of training. Great work on this excellent video. Long live Captain Kirk!
The old Maryland Athletic Club is one of the gyms in the footage. I used to workout there and would always see Kirk in there lifting. Didn’t look like he was taking anything then. Just looked like a strong power lifter. That was my favorite gym of all time. Always good people in there, alternative music playing (WHFS). Just a lot of good memories. I was sad when they closed.
where was it in glen burnie, crofton ? im a friend of kirks, havnt seen him in years but we used to go to coconuts in crofton where we both lived in the early 2000's and a bouncer said if we dont calm down hes gonna drag us out by our necks. kirk said" I have no neck!", nice and loud, so funny
Way back in the 90s I was in a meet with Kirk. He was training for the Nationals and his coach said, if u do the meet you don’t have to train that week. Did a 925 squat in a single ply suit. It was remarkable. Nicest and friendliest guy in a world. What a power house.
I thought the thumbnail was edited to make Kirk look like a dwarf, like the dimensions were pulled wide and short. Then I watched the vid and saw the exact moment where it was from, and it's not edited, he's just a massive tank w arms on the shorter side and it didn't look real for a min 😅
🌟🔥💪😁👍Легенда! У меня дома в спорт зале на стене до сих пор весил статья с ним и его фотографиями из журнала. Он меня мотивировал в 90 е на занятия пауэрлифтингом! Привет из России
I loved training at MAC!!! Watching these guys train! Ian Burgess ran the joint like a champ! Wonderful memories! If Kirt had bigger hands he would have set all new records in powerlifting! Watching him smoke 5 reps at 850 without a suit was superhuman! Super technical! Every movement was broken down to the most efficient form possible! Scientists
Is he the guy that would walk into a gym, and if he saw you on a rack getting ready to do your set would say "you're done" before he would take over😂😂 I might be mistaken.
When your body disappears into your muscle you might be fucked.. but you gotta give it to em’ dude was stronger than anybody else around. Hope he still had kids and a normal life after powerlifting and all that juice
Insanely good squat ! 👍 And great physice. For all the haters il remind you Ray Williams got popped twice. Lasha also got popped. Needless to say dont hold your "tested" athletes on a pedestal.
Is that a Squat suit he's wearing or just a onesie? ( I don't know the official name of it). If it's a Squat suit how much (around) does it let you lift more? I know wraps help but maybe 50 pounds or less.
@@fly1ngpapayaI’m not a fan of it either, but in those times it didn’t support anywhere near where it does now. It’s kinda fun to me that raw lifting is a fairly new thing, you’d think it’d be the other way around.
Lmao watching these mfs drink back then on so much gear is funny as hell. I cant drink at all i lose my appetite for days and blood pressure goes thru the roof. They where cut different back then.
Powerlifting World champion Jerry Jones told me in 1982, 'Never take training advice from steroid users, the only thing they know for sure is that the drugs work."
Doing deadlifts and slamming it on the floor is a no no, you're just using the momentum, we called it drop the weights slowly like there's eggs underneath those weights, that's weightlifting 101

This dude never went to failure, not only was he strong but he was built too.
That original MetRX packet formula was Legit💪🏻
This guy squatted 1000 for a double, that’s fucking madness
I decided to take a break from the 18th December 2024 but after watching this vid now im amped up. Love Captain Kirk.He was absolutely jacked.
Kirk Karwoski is the name of a dude that would be doing these types of lifts. Awesome
This is old school, full madness, nothing ever will beat 90 era !

Power lifters are the real thing Most bodybuilders are nuts.

The only thing missing from this video is when he talks about his squat rack on 5 o clock on a Monday! Would love that clip uploaded!
Thank you so much for this! The more kirk the better!
The intensity this guy can summon is absolutely otherworldly lmao
at 7 minutes. past parallel....PAST. friggin beast.

Esos powerlifter si que están fuertes de verdad, ni están panzones ni delgaduchos, están fuertes y estéticos

Greatness
Joe Rogan and Pavel Tsatsouline were talking about this dude and watching him on video, a few years ago. Both were very impressed!

I think I’ve seen him say this before on another video
Oh Jeez Metrx brings back memories
Everything in this video brings back memories. I lifted in my first meet with kirk in 1986. I was 16 I knew he going on to greatness. ❤

You cut out that wiggling he does before he squats , that’s his trademark.
Insanely good squat ! 👍 And great physice.

Wow he was a big boy 💪💪🏋️
1000 for 2 is insane
If Kirk only had bigger hands he would of been the 🐐!
Geared out of his mind
I really want to train with him he is the one I am looking for
goated
How tall is this guy?
About 3 foot 2 inches?
Spotted the tall insecure little boy.
5'7, he's just so wide that the looks like a fire hydrant.
I'm curious how much gear was he running
Same. Not even in a bad way either. I just want to know.

i think its a single ply suit. still impressive. im not a fan of equipped lifting but goddamn. 1000 pounds....

Isn't that Gregg Valentino?
SMOKEIT!!!
Kirk Heyden hear old school
Beer with protein powder yep
Looks like bigger version of coach Greg Ducetti.
I lifted 155 kg for biceps
🧬 genetics 💪🏽🫡
All natural, right?
Only 2000mg testosteron ed 3 deys
Nothing wrong with that.
This is lifting if you didn’t know
Captain Kirk Had To Have Had Massive Stomach Bombs After The Coors & Met-Rx Shake 🤷🏿♂️!
He retired too soon !
Lmao watching these mfs drink back then on so much gear is funny as hell. I cant drink at all i lose my appetite for days and blood pressure goes thru the roof. They where cut different back then.
what?! anyone who used to lift a little bit can see that claims about weight on the bar is total bogus...
I wonder if he took steroids
Отето балык
and a lot of steroids with that beer!!!!!!!! come on guys maybe a 350 squat without the roids?
Powerlifting World champion Jerry Jones told me in 1982, 'Never take training advice from steroid users, the only thing they know for sure is that the drugs work."
lol thats a really dumb quote. look at the current record holders in any class...for any strength sport and get back to me

Didn't this guy have gender reassignment later on?
No, that's Matt Kroc.
