This is wonderful, magical, perfect.. Such skills!!! Those kind of medleys are amazing, and I know it takes a looot of time! Hope to see more in the future :)
Everything very tasteful on this video! Songs, guitars, the color of the tele, your playing, lighting, sound, video editing. Very well done, thats why i love youtube
Paul, your guitar skill is matched only by your tremendous production skill, versatility AND continuous creativity in making us laugh while educating us. Honestly, in the 40 years I've been whacking at a guitar and going from Gordon Lightfoot to Yngwie Malmsteen you've been more of an inspiration and source of enjoyment than any I remember. Thank you so much!!!!
Seamless editing! Must have taken so many failed cuts and days of practice! I've been watching your videos for some time now, but this one I've enjoyed the most! Keep up the awesome work!
I like the song. But, i don't listen to it cuz of the lyrics. I know there are alot of 'nonsense' lyrics with the peppers. But this feels like it's a meaningful song. And, it's not the thematic that bugs me. The actual lyrics does. It's like listening to scar tissue with suck my kiss lyrics. Doesn't fit. At least imo.
Amazing! Your timing was perfect, as one was able to keep time to the other's playing. Not even sure how you made this work but I enjoyed it immensely. Keep up the good work Paul!
Brilliantly played, as usual, Paul. I was thinking in the earlier stage of this video that what makes it good is not only the excellence of your technique but the feeling that you put into the songs, so that they are far more than just exercises and keep some of the qualities that made them famous. I wasn’t so sure about that second point as the video progressed. This, I think, is because the filtering process that allows songs to become classics takes a bit of time. The word ‘classic’, commonly used as a synonym for ‘much liked by me’, implies that a lot of people over time have felt a particular way about something. (‘Iconic’ sidesteps this issue a bit!). The earlier songs have all in different ways proved themselves. Many of the later ones are still on the threshing floor. I guess that ‘hit’ catches the shift: many great songs have been hits, but not all hits are great songs. Interesting how little Dylan (say) has figured in the pop charts which wouldn’t be the same without his influence. I don’t think he’s ever had a UK number one single, not even with ‘Like a Rolling Stone’. So as you went forward the beauty of your playing was still completely there, but some of those songs might be more of a challenge to really love. Thanks as always for your artistry, great humour and some of the best video editing I’ve seen in the guitar sections of UA-cam.
Thank you so much for this Video. I think this will really help me come out of my rut. I just did not khnow what song I should learn next, but your Video has Inspired me. Thank you soo much !!
Damn... Good job it must have been really hard to make! I've done these kinds of effects over the years and just staying in sync for so long is impressive
Just sad that you gotta get that 5th string in a high C and you gotta have that capo tip cut off. That means you can't show it on other peoples guitars without risking to break there string. And if you got it there, you also need to break their capo to play it. But let me say it is so satisfying to play that tune by yourself, so in the end it is all worth it.
I can already play the intro to Stairway to Heaven, and I know all of Nothing Else Matters. I fully intend to learn Blackbirds and Dust in the Wind soon.
It would be awesome with a Part 2 for this! There's still Hey There Delilah, Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life), Thinking Out Loud and many more that are pretty iconic! 😄😎
I think its wildly considered the more popular version of the song, not that the original wasn't popular on its own. Same with the song Hurt, the Jonny Cash version is usually considered more popular than the original.
+Trolls Boggle you must be blind lol hes moving his fingers to the positions where the slides end up but hes not actually sliding along the strings. look carefully, youll see what i mean
Well, that's an easy explanation: Simon plays guitar (left-guy) and sings (right-guy). But the orchestration missed the Garfunkel harmony, so I decided to add the 3rd one later on to make it even nicer sounding :) Well spotted!
Can't be unfair to everyone else. There are plenty of deserving groups and artists out there, you know? Heck, Mason Williams, Chet Atkins, Gordon Lightfoot, Jim Croce, and so many more were left off the list. At least he picked one Fleetwood Mac song, you know?
everybody supernova I was thinking the same thing. There are so many good examples: "Tomorrow, Tomorrow", "Angeles", "Southern Belle", and especially "Almost Over". I'm glad those "iconic" songs that I've never heard or heard of made the list though. What about Iron & Wine? The majority is finger-picked and were more popular than any Elliott Smith song. Failed top 25.
As much as I love Elliott, he was barely popular enough to be recognized by musicians themselves, let alone the laymen that make up "pop culture." Easily my favorite alt songwriter, but hardly popular enough to make the list unfortunately

Awesome video man, what model Martin are you using in the beginning?
I think that is Martin 000-18
It's a Martin 000-18 Golden Era. Very nice little guitar :)
This is incredible. The fact you did this in one continuous shot per side without a single error or muted string is amazing.

Nearly every time someone makes reference to Hallelujah, they make reference to Buckley’s version, why? At least this was S&G’s Sound of Silence.
I think its wildly considered the more popular version of the song, not that the original wasn't popular on its own. Same with the song Hurt, the Jonny Cash version is usually considered more popular than the original.
