So many of us who fought in Vietnam knew that invading Iraq was wrong, and we knew why. We watched as we made the very same mistakes we made in Vietnam. Senator Vance is also correct about Ukraine. Vietnam veterans know quagmire when we see it.

What the Fuck are you talking about. Where not in war with anybody. Ukraine is at war with Russia. Where just helping them out. God you people are retarded.

Iraq was great at the start, but then US destroyed many Iraqi institutions that were worth preserving. Like their army and their party. That was my thought at a time.

Some folks are born made to wave the flag
Hoo, they're red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief"
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me
    I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, Lord?
But when the taxman come to the door
Lord, the house lookin' like a rummage sale, yeah
It ain't me, it ain't me
    I ain't no millionaire's son, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no
Yeah-yeah, some folks inherit star-spangled eyes
Hoo, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask 'em, "How much should we give?"
Hoo, they only answer, "More, more, more, more"
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no military son, son, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, one
Some folks are born with silver spoons in hand
And some work hard to make their stand
But there's a man named Jimmy David Donald "J.P. J.D. Mandel" Hamel Bowman, oh so sly
Doesn't even know who he is.
He served six months with paper and pen, but now he’s got a different lie.
It ain't me, it ain't me
    I ain't no tech mogul's pool boy
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no
Some folks like DonOLD Drumpf dodge the draft with
Stories spun of bone spurs and medical runs
They ride on wealth and privilege high
While others face the fight and die
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortune son of wealth and deceit
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate son, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate son, no, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me...

Should have a million views, I agree. This speech is being quoted around the world right now. That's how I got to search for the whole speech and I'm glad I found it.
EDIT: after watching the whole video, I'm disappointed Mr. Vance is hawkish on China. Same foreign policy he is advocating against - it seems he is just playing Africa. He is picking and choosing.

Most that pretend to be anti-war are only anti *this* war because they can tell it’s unpopular. Somehow they think we’ll be all for another if it’s against the big scary CPC. Been disappointed with *a lot* of people on their idea of how we should “handle” China.

So you think the USA should sit back and let other nations take over the world without protecting herself overseas?
You didn't listen very carefully to the video. It's not about "hawkish" vs whatever you imagine is the alternative which you haven't bothered to present. It is about protecting American interests and he makes a very good case for why focusing on protecting Taiwan from China is in America's interests. They are a large manufacturing base for vital products that are essential to the way of life of the US.
I don't understand what point you are trying to make except that you don't understand. How about you make an actual point? Why do you think he is wrong? How about you counter his evidence with a reasoned argument instead of making the generic "hawkish" accusation against him? Do you have any nuance or even a position or are you careless "isolationist" who can't even be bothered making a case?

Let’s recap: Walz, at age 17, joined the National Guard and served 24 years…deploying to a unit in Europe that provided logistical support to troops in Iraq. He went where he was ordered to. Trump dodged the military (he was a draft dodger) and then years later, said WWII veterans that died fighting in Europe, were “suckers” (as reported by his own Chief of Staff, Kelly (who was there), and belittled John McCain’s war record as a Navy pilot in Vietnam; Vance was a military reporter/correspondent. He had a desk job, and served the minimum time of 4 years. Vance is fake, a chameleon (love how he compared Trump to Hitler one day, and a few months later, was shinning his boots). He’s a spineless hypocrite, with no integrity. It’s a total disgrace to call him a Marine. . While Tump is a draft dodging traitor.

So he agrees with Dems that we shouldn’t have followed Bush jr. into war. Agrees with Dems that Taiwan must be defended. But doesn’t seem to understand that helping Ukraine strengthens us, especially with Biden having united the EU is ways unseen since WWll. Vance just seems confused, or being pulled by so many strings he can’t grasp how the world works. So wierd to watch. But I’m glad he is at least admitting that their administration will be beholden to the heritage foundation, some honesty for once.

So if we manufacture chips at home in the US, the issue of Taiwan will not be so critical? Taiwan is an island, but the name of the country is the Republic of China. The Republic of China lost the civil war with the People's Republic of China, or PRC as we call them. People's Republic of China has a very valid claim to the Republic of China, and the opposite is true as well, but if they end their civil war and reunite, many issues will go away. I personally think the US will not be able to defend Taiwan due to the proliferation of drones and it would be very difficult for the RPC Chinese to attack the RC Chinese.
