Yes
I cut A4 sheet to the size of my pan and apply oil on it with a brush and then pour the batter in and bake. It removes easily as well same like a baking/parchment paper after baking. No need to go through this process and store it too.

It’s good idea but one mistake you did is folding butter sheet on news paper , shouldn’t use news paper for any oil items or oil related things because inks in the news paper may not absorb the food but chemicals which is used in that will spread over the food , so it’s better to use tissue paper or paper towels for absorbing oil .
