It's not just about Mark Henry's family. Look at Mark Henry himself. He was heavier, bulkier and stronger than any of the strength athletes u can think of at the similar age from teenage years to mid 20s until he left competitive lifting for pro wrestling. He was already 400 lbs by the age of 19. The most he weighed during his competitive career was 414 lbs by the age of 25 . Clearly states he was natural. Didn't blow up suddenly in size and strength like every other strength athlete bar Anderson who was himself a natural.
Plus his criticism of iwf president suggest strongly that he was what was claiming to be. U can't slam your top officials like how he did in public as it creates a bad image of your sport its top officials. But Henry didn't care, he was really pissed off that the sports is filled with cheats and that how he as a lifetime drug free athlete was at significant disadvantage competing against these guys who have enhanced their abilities with chemicals. U guys r not realising that Henry was literally threatened by president Ajan to keep his mouth shut or he would end his career.

Why would anyone competing at that level choose to be natural? You know at least some of the people you compete against won't be. Even if you were he most honest person in the world there would be no reason to stay natural, as taking PED's as the name states enhances your performance. So to the evidence, there is no reason he couldn't have cycled on and off is there, and even with the greatest genertics in the world it will be heartbreaking to lose to the guy with the second best genetics in the world on PED's. It's a shame gear exists, but it does.
You could even taken them years before and come off and still have the benefits and pass a test. I have a friend who hammered gear for years hasn't done it for years, but is still far far bigger and stronger for having done it had he been life long natty.

@@richluke24 No other human competing in any kind of sports who claim themselves to be lifetime natural has gone to the extent of Mark to openly criticize and slam the higher most authority ( ie., in case of Mark, iwf president) of their respective sports. Over the years many athletes in powerlifting and weightlifting have claimed themselves to be lifetime drug free including the likes of Shane Hamman, Ray Williams, Jezza Uepa, Jesus Olivaires etc but none of them did or could do what Mark did due to 2 reasons :
      1. They were themselves not drug free and just claimed/claims to be so because of the image they needed to maintain in front of public as they competed/competes in drug tested federations.
      2. It is pretty obvious that criticizing and slamming the top official of your sport is not a smart move and can lead to your suspension or end of your career.
      Consider this.
Also, if Mark wasn't natural then why did he laid open challenge to every top powerlifters of his time to compete at 4 drug free meets one after another and pass their tests and he would do it too and then at 5th meet those guys needed to face him and beat him in powerlifting. He offered a $ 10,000 to anyone who got successful in beating him but unsurprisingly none of the guys accepted his challenge. Can u think why? Powerlifting was a niche sport back then and it still is and it doesn't have opportunity to earn great money. If Mark was offering a good money, they why didn't they accept his challenge.
As I stated in my previous comment, his moral value encouraged him to not touch anabolic steroids. He didn't even know what steroids were until 18 years of age and by that time was already the 3 time Texas State powerlifting champion and bench pressed 525 lbs, deadlifted 815 lbs and squatted 832 lbs. It's only when he started lifting these nos. that people started accusing him of taking steroids and that's when he heard the name of it for the first time and its role in strength sports.
Compare his size, bodyweight, bulk and strength to any of the top strength athletes u know whether in powerlifting, weightlifting or strongman, none of them were as strong as him, had as much prodigious bulk as him at the similar young age. What's fascinating is that Mark was stronger than all of them in terms of overall body strength from his teenage years to 25 years of age until he left competitive lifting in favour of his pro wrestling. He had crazy genetics for strength and probably had the most strength potential out of any of the modern strength athletes u can think of.
Regarding your question that why didn't he take drugs when everyone was on it knowing it placed him at significant disadvantage compared to people who have enhanced their amazing talent with chemicals, was due to the fact that he came from a very small town of silsbee Texas and had quite different upbringing than most of the other lifters as I said he didn't even know what drugs were as he was shielded from the ugly underbelly of the iron sports having grown up in small town and having trained at his high school with high school athletes. Had he come from a city and trained with older lifters he would most certainly have been told by those lifters to take peds. As it was by the time he really knew what steroids were , he was already stronger than almost anyone who might have recommended their use so he had the psychological strength to just say no.
Lastly, Dr. Terry Todd widely regarded as the most knowledgeable expert in the field of strength sports and himself being the first man to total over 1600,1700,1800, 1900 lbs total and the first man to officially deadlift 700 lbs in competition, has said clearly time and again that Mark was 100% drug free. There was no reason to lie and it wouldn't have benefitted him in any way and he was known for his outspoken nature and complete honesty. When he first met Mark, he made sure whether Mark was completely natural or not by digging up his past and from then point onward Mark throughout his lifting journey trained under his guidance. So he knew Mark personally and would more than any of us. The problem is people find it difficult to grasp that any man can be naturally this strong because since the discovery of anabolic steroids nearly every top athletes were/ are on them and it has dimmed the mind of people to believe that these nos. cannot be achievable with natural strength granted that person should have one of the craziest strength genetics. Paul Anderson was another nattie who was moving these kinds of weights back in the 50s and 60s when anabolic steroids just started to come in full effect in USA.

Competed in a well known powerlifting fed. I was talking to a older guy there as we were in the warmup area and he suggested some of the guys wear on something. Naively, I said I thought this is a drug free fed. He said drug tested doesn’t mean drug free. One of the guys we were watching hit an 800+ equipped squat. They selected him and he tested negative but later positive at another meet. Not saying Mark was a cheat but the average guy won’t come close to matching his high school strength level without taking something.

I partly agree. It's reasonably easy to use PED's and come off shortly before a comp while still keeping many of the gains and passing the doping test, however being tested 23 times in one year would make this impossible
