  • This week Adam talks us through two of our hottest selling ranges of match fishing rods. We have the Shimano Aero X1 range against the Daiwa Matchman range of rods. In particular to this video are the feeder rods, but waggler rods are also available.

For me the Shimano X1 came out the stronger looking rod ( I have the 10ft Speedmaster AX feeder). However, I did prefer the Daiwa's lunge absorbing through action. I like that flat arm supporting feature on the Daiwa rod - it's the same in my Cast'izm and I find that very helpful in netting and playing fish
I found the review a little like comparing apples with oranges, in that the rods were of differing lengths

Realy like this video and bought myself the aero x1 10ft too. Love this rod.
Which size reel would you guys recomment for this 10ft feeder rod? Any specific suggestions?
    Thanks.

Hi. What do you think about Daiwa Aqualite feeder 330 60gr? If you should choose what would it be? Shimano aero x1 or Daiwa Aqualite feeder? Thanks for answer.

I bought that exact Shimano for 46 quid last year and managed to land a 14.6 pound carp.Is absolutely brilliant rod for the money. Now i’m using a Daiwa Ninja Feeder for which i paid 67 but doesn’t seem as good as the Shimano.Great video

Braid or mono? And what breaking strength mate?

@@ashab1 On my aero X1 I usually use 8lb mono mainline as thats what I had when I put line on the reel, but id say its matched more to a 6lb. I've landed carp up to 15lb on it, just the other week had a 13lb carp on 4lb hooklink as I was on waggler float for small silvers, rod does ok for float fishing too. Brought me through pads and still got it out on 4lb, drennan line. Quality line will hold suprisingly big fish. General rule imo is, use line half the weight of what you wanna catch (in very slow rivers / still water), so 15lb carp, 8lb line. 25lb carp 12lb line. Thats my general rule.
I have the 10 foot x1 and a 12 foot ninja, on the 12 foot ninja id happily put on braid for wide river stretches. Got to say the x1 is much nicer than the ninja all day long. Just ordered an A-class which I hope is as good as the x1. Couldnt be more pleased with the rod tbh. Even shut it in my car door and snapped some eyes on it. Got replacement eyes on and landed multiple double figure carp since. Rod is strong for £50, probably best feeder at that price

Hi mate which rod would you prefer for river perch fishing? Aero or ninja? Thanks

@@mikebutcher6345 hi, i have not done any river fishing. What i can say is the Daiwa is softer than the Shimano, the Shimano also casts better in my opinion.Eventually i sold them both but if i was to choose between them i would definitely choose the Shimano one.Hope this helps and sorry for not being able to give you more info

Guru A class if you dont want a baitrunner, if you want a baitrunner throw a shimano STFB 2500 on there. Wont be dissapointed with either reel
