    For everyone that likes the 'binding board,' this is a very easy (and cheap) way to make your own. All you need to do is place two long pins parallel to each other on your ironing surface an inch or two wider than your iron (stop the video and look at her board). Make sure your pins are heat resistant and that the middle section of the pin is wide enough for your binding to fit under when folded in half. Then you can slide the binding in just as shown in the video and voila, you have a 'binding board." I prefer to use that $40 for fabric instead of buying one more quilting tool. You can see hers is getting burned too from having her iron always in the same place. This way, you can move it from spot to spot and have your ironing board cover last much longer.

    I always had difficulty getting the edge of the binding. A few weeks ago I saw another truck. Elmers glue stick to the backside so you are positive it is in the right path. I got it all glued down and then hand sewed it because it was for an dear friend. I have donation quilts that need quilting and binding. Twill try with no pressure.Hugs and thank you for the great video. I wrote down directions for the connecting binding beginning and end. Always have to do several times so please tell people to not cut until sure it’s not twisted. If cut and wrong more work to be done.

    • @CorianderQuilts
      @CorianderQuilts  2 роки тому +1

      Elmer's glue on the back works if you are attaching to the front and then finishing on the back. With that method, you would be stitching in the ditch on the front and then need to make sure to catch your binding on the back without being able to see where it's at & the glue keeps everything in place nicely. With the method I showed in the video, we are attaching to the back and finishing on the front so we don't have to worry about catching the binding on the backside with our stitching.

I am a very confident sewer I would never not do something because I have never done it before or because it looks hard, that's just not my nature. I generally just use what I have and really have no idea about the different types (something I want to learn more about). I’ve been a professional seamstress for 33 years but I’ve only dabbled in quilting, I’ll sit for hundreds of hours beading belly dance costumes but I can’t get past taking a beautiful piece of fabric, cutting it in little pieces just so you can spend hours and hours putting them back together LOL your tutorial was very well done and I learned a few things about quilting, thank you! Corey you have encouraged me to once again try sewing my own bindings on.
    Binding is the one thing about quilt making that I have truly disliked doing so much so that by the end of 2019 I had seventeen quilts that only needed binding 🤦‍♀️
    In early 2020 I found Tina who enjoys binding quilts and has been doing mine every since. She adds to her limited income and I have beautiful finished quilts. A win win.
    Whenever I tried doing it myself my ends, that you sew together, came out lumpy and looking crappy, the thread always showed on the back and the binding on one side of the quilt was always larger. (I cut my binding at 2 1/2”)
    I have a small wheelchair lap quilt I just finished for my daughter and after watching your video one more time I will bind it myself.
    Thank you for great instructions. Wish me luck.
