I’m jealous of nicks freedom to explode on stage with the urgency of a mad preacher and fire out these words and expressions and mannerisms. Songs like these are such a release. I wish I had this freedom. I wish I could go into a manic frenzy and capture people’s attention with my urgency and give them something worth hearing.
Most musicians can only dream of writing and performing a piece of music this powerful. This is a pure tour de force, it's always been one of my favourite songs by Nick and The Seeds and every time I watch this clip I'm reminded of how powerful a performance it truly is.
I watch this over and over...I have seen many lives performances, though this particular performance (I wasn't there), has to be up there with the best of all time 💜💕💜🙏
@melindamartin9765 this is powerful performance. You have my condolences and deepest sympathy. Love never dies she will be there to welcome you home when it's your time.
I love how there are so many live performances of this song, but they all sound so different from one another. It's like the gift that keeps on giving with each new performance
Cave said it is a best song he have written, in "20000 days on earth" I think, because you can play it any way you want it but it still sounds fantastick
I could see Nick as an old testament preacher, riveting the congregation with his intensity. Even the purest would leave church feeling like an evil sinner.
God I love this song so freaking much, one of my favorites to hear live! The way it just builds and builds, and get's more and more intense... And when it ends it leaves you feeling almost drained, like coming down from a high. Freaking brilliant.
Se him in a little downstairs club round the back of Tottenham Court Road, London, in the late 80s or early 90s. I was so impressed I bought a tee shirt. Great night, great artist.
Fantastic crowd. Europeans get true artistic endeavors more than we Americans. This dude should have been a household name in America for the last 30 year's, just like killing joke
Eric Pirillo In all due respect to us Americans, Europeans blow us away when it comes to musical taste. They have for years. Nick comes on an American tour and maybe hits 12-15 cities. I am 59 years old. I can’t ever remember him touring my hometown of Cleveland. I had to travel to Chicago to see him live back in 2010. We definitely don’t have the adventurous taste in music that Europe has. Couldn’t agree more. Just bloviated too long
@@soko63 Yep, even hip hop, they support underground artist with talent. We support Nicky Minaj and watered down jingles. Salute, and I dont mean disrespect either, its just obvious ad far as pop culture goes.
@@badtexasbill5261 yes it looks like Nick was strict about photos at Copenhagen. "Oh, no, no ,no" said Nick to a picture taker during fabulous Stagger Lee with audience being invited on stage and even pulled up by Nick.
@@freevue in Austin TX he chastised an audience member for recording some of the q&a. Just a few minutes before that he'd asked specifically for no recording.
@@badtexasbill5261 not reallly, here in Argentina i was very shocked by the fact that just a few jerks were filming the concert, ppl who like music like this is pretty cool
I've just watched Jubilee Street and From Her To Eternity and now this from the same concert. I think I transformed into someone completely different, and I feel soooo good.
hahah i totally got you. I was crying while listening to Johnny Cash's version in the morning, it just brought out my heavy emotions. Its a really good experience, loved it
@Nick cave Hahaha that's a sort of fan fiction I've never encountered before. Or are you catfishing for some nekkid pics? I don't imagine that would work pretty well, Nick Cave fans are probably mostly adults with some critical thinking skills and a life of their own.
I wish they would release a Blu-Ray of every single show he does. He is one of the best performers I've ever seen. His last tour in the USA - the shows were amazing. There is something that feels, almost religious about many of his newer works...just spectacular.
This is on the EP along with Jubilee Street, Distant Sky, and From Her To Eternity : www.discogs.com/Nick-Cave-The-Bad-Seeds-Distant-Sky-Live-In-Copenhagen/release/12584316
Was never really a huge fan but mate bought me ticket for gig at Mcr Arena September 2017. Utterly brilliant and this song was my favourite. Nobody else I can think of that can make a live appearance with 20,000+ people feel so immediate and personal.
That's a seriously impressive frontman performance there from Nick Cave, like a demented cabaret singer. I'm not his biggest fan but I have to admit that was good.
Nick Cave was born to transmit the power of God.
"Or at least that's what i'm told"
A wild god :p

Nothing is stopping you from doing it, run it up the flag pole and see who salutes it
So do we all brother, but, if it was easy it would'nt be worth anything and who would want to see or hear something worthless?...
Nobody, that's who!
Finding Inner Truth .:.
He is sane as long as he has this pure empathy for the protagonist.

Within the darkness lies the brightness.
Playing this over and over while I grieve for my little sister who just passed...it's the only song that feels like medicine 💕💜🙏

My deepest condolences ((From far away, Israel) It is so sad to lose someone very close. Undoubtedly this is a powerful song.

Exactly I love that so much, the piano version on the Idiot Prayer live album comes to mind, what a beautiful song.
@@IMajst3RI Never knew that. Thanks
Very True.

LMAO
The poetry of this and Cave’s delivery is unbelievable
Just sensational. Unbelievably powerful.
The percussion on this track is something special.
Great Concert. I was there. He is truly a magician
Nick is unbelievable
Simply
Amen to that
This man is pure magic.
And in a way I'm yearning for the whole show on DVD.
Yes... when is it finally coming out?
Saw it in theater. It was really good!

Check Nick's Instagram... They've just announced the full concert will be available for free in a few days.

TheLovelyCreature try listening to Johnny cashs version of this song
100%. So intense every time. I also love that quality with Jubilee Street. Incredible stuff. I got to see him in Rome on this tour.
Always been one of my favorites!
So few smartphones..so much respect for the Artist in the audience body language.
Copenhagen 😏no coment👏🏼
Hands down best band on the planet.
Such a unique and powerful song. I might have listened to it a thousand times and still feels haunting and captivating like the first time.
This is the first time I'm listening to this song. Wow, what intensity! I have goosebumps, it's an incredible experience! Thanks Nick Cave!
I just discovered this guy, such an amazing musician.
Goddamn, the way he delivered the final line
This is one of the greatest things I ve ever heard
Others had Mozart, others Elvis or Beatles or Rolling Stones, we have NC and the Bad Seeds
Had the chance to see him live in concert (Chicago). The most intense concert I’ve ever attended!!
Se him in a little downstairs club round the back of Tottenham Court Road, London, in the late 80s or early 90s. I was so impressed I bought a tee shirt. Great night, great artist.
...heftig! das ist so gut! awesome! intoxicating!
Insane performance! What an artist!
Was fortunate enough to see him in a smaller venue in Stockholm. Was the tour for Dig Lazarus. Sheer magic!
Still so punk rock!
Can't wait to see Nick live in Copenhagen!
Après une chanson comme ça on peut mourir
30 odd years old.

One of the best live ❤️
GENIUS
What a band!
Breathtakingly beautiful

Brilliant song
Great version of this classic!
I was yearning for this song today when I woke up. Now I'll need a few dozen different versions of it, including the one by Johnny Cash.

Never seen a more visceral reaction to music as when I put a Nick Cave cd on in the car with my wife. She absolutely hated it. Her loss
