All the answers were right in front of us. With the identity of FB resolved, I can't believe I never even realized that going back to the beta timeline meant Makise Kurisu would have to die instead. Preventing that will be quite the task ahead for the final episodes... We're already on episode 7 of Steins;Gate 0 over on www.Patreon.com/Robinoyo. Go and check it out! Thanks for watching :)
That Makise twist is still one of the best twists I've ever witnessed. It works only when you binge and not overanalyze the show, but when it hits, it hits.
It's definitely because the author makes our mind also focus on undoing all these d mails that we forget in all this shit what actually happened in the 1st world line all while making us attached to makise!! Clever writing since it also happened in basically 1st episode!!
While i saw this twist coming from around episode 15 after we undid the demail for suzuha, I was just praying the makise twist does NOT happen. So even though i saw it coming, the emotional impact was still there. I was thinking NOOOOOOOOOOOooooooo.........
This is exactly why I try not to analyze stories while I experience them, because letting the story pull you along almost always enhances the experience! Only afterward do I do a full deep dive
Yay the first reactor to be surprised with makise death .... The first time I watched SG i binged watching it so I couldn't think or make a theories which let me to I enjoy more and being shocked in every reveal
Shooting Moeka wasn't something that happened in the Steins;Gate visual novel (the source material). She still dies, but due to something else that was cut from the anime adaptation for time. So Braun's character is supposed to be more sympathetic than what's shown here. He shoots himself because SERN will kill Nae if he defects, which is basically what he's done by telling Okabe everything. If he dies, then there's no reason for SERN to kill Nae because she doesn't know anything. At least, that's what he hopes.
I'm sure you know it by now but the reason the world changed from beta to alpha is because sern tracked the dmail and it's stored in their system. Daru is to hack that system and delete all trace of the dmail, thus returning to beta.
The first D mail triggered the sensor that SERN had created. They didn't have the technology to change the past, but they could detect when something did, which in turn causes them to send out the Rounders to go and retrieve the people who created a time machine and their technology.
The reason the very first email became a D-mail instead is because he messaged it to Daru's phone, and at that exact moment, Daru had been testing the Phone-wave (real name TBA) with his phone hooked up to it. By pure coincidence, he had the thing running with his phone attached in the same configuration that they usually use to send the D-mails, and received the message while the turntable was spinning backwards on the microwave and getting tested. This caused the very first worldline shift (that was caused by Okarin, anyway) to a world where he and Mayuri went to go see the crashed satellite, and the Dr. Nakabachi's lecture was cancelled. They still ended up going to the radio building but for a different reason, and on that day, it was by pure coincidence that nobody was flooding the streets at that point in time. It mostly served to show a vast difference between the worldlines, and Mayuri was obviously there purely because she is always with him, regardless of worldline. None of this is a spoiler because it is all taken from information that has already been presented or explained.
It wasn't coincidence that the streets were empty--they were cordoned off by the police because of the satellite. Alpha Okabe wanted to go check the satellite out and evaded the police. He happened to go there at the same time as Nackabachi's lecture would have been.
Bro, what made steins gate the best anime for me is the way it presented it's resolution. Rather than changing the outcome by changing the past, he changed it by changing the future! That's some genius writing for me!
yeah choosing between Feyris' dad and Mayuri is fairly easy, even Feyris accept it because she already knows that her dad loved her and she gets to say she loves him. it's still somewhat a "win-win". the real stake is choosing between Mayuri and Kurisu, after all the development we witnessed with Okabe and Kurisu. this show's pacing and writing are brutal for that.
The reason why Tennouji killed Moeka and himself is because he failed to contain the information within himself and his SERN group and because of that, they'll go aftet him. He's fine if he's alone, but he has a kid and he doesn't want Nae to be involved, so he killed Moeka and himself. Being a SERN's cattle literally makes you a livestock You failed your mission, you die You leaked some info, you die And even if you managed to complete your mission, you still die because you know something about them, and they'll have to silence you to be safe
if im not wrong in the vn, moeka remember the worldline where she killed mayuri before she die. and in the manga mr.braun wife is killed by sern (idk if this canon or no)
This proved to me moeka was a victim as much as the rest. Hell even mister braun. Cern and the later war reminds me much of the american civil war. A bunch of wealthy or poweful men ordering the slaughter of so many innocents for personal gain or their own sense of "justice". Also: the ending of this episode had shocked me so much i had a mental shock and was in the main characters shoes for a moment
@@zLeSshuhn That;s more like bonus stuff if you don't undo the dmail. She doesn't murder him, because she can't yet,due to the world line, but she plants the seed of fear. It also says she travelled from the past,so she isn't an actual naive kid. Also the entire confrontation happens inside braun's house.
The english dub is actually a lot clearer with the intention of braun shooting himself. Something along the lines of: Braun: I can't let nae live a life of pursuit. The only way out, is for me to die. Okabe: WAI- bang.
Yes he did, Daru's phone was tied to the microwave and it became a D-Mail But since SERN noticed that msg was from the future and that caused the world line shift. The basically kept an eye on them and eventually took there research, creating the dystopia SERN

YES EXACTLY
It doesn't really qualify as a "twist" if it requires you to have a bad memory.
the editing done in this episode for braun's death with the cutaway to nae sitting in front of the dining table is bloody chilling
Yay the first reactor to be surprised with makise death ....

watch theflamingshark's reaction of this episode, you wont be disappointed.
Goosebumps. The moment he realizes that he has to choose between his best childhood friend and the love of his life... I can't 😭

@@Moggetslittlesister I didn't even consider that since they didn't show it.

They actually cut one of the scariest parts of the game here. In the visual novel, Name comes back and murders Okabe here for her revenge.
that's another route I think
