Watching his "making of", what I like is that everything has a retro feel. The drop ceiling, the wooden-frame futon, the throw blanket, the shelves even give it an indy video rental store feel. It just takes me to a very cozy place to play old games.

I have watched ever episode at least 10 times and I still love it. After going back and playing all these games, I realized that I don't half the patience the nerd has.
I actually never watched the Making of an AVGN video before and I'm glad I finally did. I work in the Film Industry (specifically Post Production), and he gives a LOT of good tips/ideas for aspiring UA-camrs that should be noted. Granted the hardware is pretty dated (Most UA-camrs that shoot content footage similar to the Nerd use a DSLR camera for video and an external Zoom mic for audio) but it works for what he does since there is a nostalgia factor into it. Lastly, if you are interested in editing, use Premiere Pro, it's very similar to Final Cut Pro, but unlike FCP, it's still supported and updated.You can also get a Student Discount on it and get it a good bit cheaper than some of the alternatives like Avid.

I always found it interesting that the nerd didnt do collabs often, I guess its helped keep his content relatively timeless, and you can really just treat the guests like another foil to the nerd like bugs or the joker.

If you pause on the scenes with the smashing you can see that the dip switches are actually a sticker. They're hanging over the edge of the grip. It's a Legend of Zelda cartridge and another cheap game, probably Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt It is still a pretty impressively realistic looking prop.
I love the "making of" avgn video, James actually taught me a lot about making a good video. The voice acting takes a lot of practice for me personally, still bad at it!
