Thanks for your support and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I totally agree! Ive been playing for quite a few years now and it's really interesting how the metagame, archetypes and decks evolve over time too. I do hope the solution / lightning angel can make a comeback though
@@IPlayMagic I'm sure it can. The colour combination has the tools to fight through any meta. My suspicion is that it's the kind of deck that performs better when a meta is a little more stable and threats can be predicted with more precision, but with the format growing so fast it's presently really hard to make the kinds of predictions which this style of deck needs.
Great update to your last overview video - thanks for sharing your data! Loved monoblack at #15 and your respective choices - I bet this'll generate a lot of discussion. The three cards you chose to showcase the variability and mistake of grouping them all together as one entity - Carnophage, Pit, and Coffers are unlikely to go in a single black deck in this format and really show the diversity in PM's "weakest" color (and my personal fave). Happy 2025 and thanks again!
Thanks for your support and Im glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah I do think some of the black aggro decks are similar enough that grouping them together is fine, but obviosly decks like contamination control are really different. I was also pleasantly surprised to see how well the formats 'weakest colour' (and one of my favourites too) did last year. I have had a lot of success with mono black and especially clerics so I never felt that it deserved to be dismissed so easily.
The popularity of the format has been really taking off recently, which is great. Back to Darmstadt again this year ofc, maybe see you there again.. Keep the great content coming 👌

@@felipealcabri yeah it’s probably just a case that the deck needs to adjust to a new meta and most new players don’t even see it anymore because it’s not in the top hyped lists anymore
Yeah, there really are. But I thank them for supporting this format for the past few years. It's probably hard to classify the decks if youre not super upto date or involved with the format as it is still very new and small.
@@MaleficentCherry my whole channel is full of deck techs about the decks that also have lists at the end. The website in the video is called tc decks. The format has a different concept of tiers to most other formats. This video is sort of a tier list but there’s so many competitive decks and you will always face some bad matchups over a long tournament so while some decks are better than others it’s usually recommended to play what you find fun.
@@deadstar1756 I probably could do that but it would take a really long time and would change over time. I do make deck techs with some basic information if you have seen those ? I will definitely think about it if I get time because it’s not the first time that I’ve been asked that.
Looking to buy two-three decks to jam with friends. I want a Goblin or Sligh deck for nostalgia-reasons. What would be decks that have FUN matchups vs these rather straight forward games? I.e. no rock paper scissors or if u draw X hate then you win.
@nono-i7t goblins and sligh are actually quite different in how they play and quite straightforward in the sense that you either stop them from doing their thing or you lose. Those 2 decks will do the same thing every game very consistently and it’s a little difficult to say what’s fun because everyone has a different idea of fun, for example lots of people don’t find sligh fun to play against. But I’d say that the rock or dead guy ale are often seen as classic decks that could have some fun games with those depending on how you build the decks or maybe terrageddon. Goblins /land still can also be very fun and close, if you want interactive games then most of the midrange or control decks should provide that a lot of the aggro decks would too but some of them are kind of one sided due to lots of pro red creatures or stuff that is very bad vs burn (mono black). But there will be a lot of hate cards for those decks as basically every black deck will have engineered plague and every blue deck will have chill. Sometimes the games come down to if you draw the hate or not in slighs case.
I know all of these decks! Started during Urza's Saga though was introduced to MTG around Stronghold/Exodus. One question, how does certain card/mechanic fares with modern ruling i.e. Mogg Fanatic sac shenanigans?
All reprints are allowed and people are chill about it but the community consensus is that it’s better to play the old frame versions if you can. The gold bordered world championship ones are generally accepted everywhere but it is better to double check with the organiser first as there are sometimes events that don’t allow them although that is very rare.
