What's also crazy is how long ago these ads were, nearly 20 years yet watching them now it feels like I saw them yesterday. The brain is incredible and we still know so little about how it really works
Does anyone remember an anti-smoking ad, it was like a dark room, someone smoking and the cigarette smoke turned into a chain-link ... longshot but if you know what I'm talking about I'd love to track it down
It was a trip watching these with my friend Jet (who is New Zealish) and boy howdy, the reactions to his childhood. We as Americans (congrats to Da_Nut on getting his citizenship) had to catch him up on a few things, can you believe they are only just now getting episode 350 of the Simpsons? He didn't even know Malcom in the Middle was cancelled.
Amazing compilations and good work on timestamping each ad - I know it takes a lot of effort. I've been through them all looking for an ad I remember. I can't remember exactly what it was for, but I think there was a bit of a series of them. One ended with the middle-aged couple who starred in it sitting on the front porch under the verandah in rocking chairs looking at the side of a grassy hill on a farm and the wife says "Did you hear something?". I'm guessing it was early 2000s. If anyone remembers this ad and can give some info on what it was for, it'd be much appreciated.
Do you have the McDonald's "make it click" song that used to air all the time in the 2000s. Its a cartoon. There is a Spanish version on UA-cam but do you have the original English version I've been searching forever but no one can find it
Its weird how your brain stores this shit away deep in your recall memory
It's like you last watched these ads last week ae.... it's like these aren't old and are infact still in circuit... its both amazing and emotional
Subliminal

This rings a bell. I think it was for a nicotine tablet and the box of tablets falls onto the chain and it breaks?
@@OldZealand that sounds right, any chance you could track it down or point me in the right direction?
yeah remember it, maybe smokefree nz ad?
Yes I remember that ad! Bro wtf what a throwback
pretty sure its a nicotine add and smashes the box and breaks the chain right ?
Haha I remember free texting on Vodafone weekends. That was their response to telecom unlimited text for $10

Thanks! Not sure about the ad you are describing sorry, but maybe someone else can help. That setup is a common trope in TV ads.
@@OldZealand No worries. I may even have it on one of my old DVD HDD recorders.
@@TonyRule Let me know if you figure it out!
I'm not sure if you found it but this sounds like an old mainland cheese add
@@TheGamemonkey505 No, I never did find it. But it wasn't Mainland - the woman bit down on something that made a crunch IIRC.
Bro... I can sleep on it
I don't believe it's from 2005 these ads feel more recent than that damn
The Bedpost ad gives it away, pay nothing until next year (2006)

Sadly I don't think so, I did some digging and I think that was a 2004 version, and I don't have any tapes left (that I know of) from that time.
Would’ve just started primary around this time
I would been 3 years old in 2005

Haha. Once ignored while you went to the toilet or got a snack. Now the primary form of entertainment. Nostalgia is a funny thing.
Nice to see no cultural propaganda
