- Motorhead guitarist Phil Campbell strongly pushed back against claims that Lemmy was a nazi sympathizer because he had a large WWII collection in his home.

He absolutely was NOT a Nazi sympathizer. He was an AMAZING dude with such a pure heart.
Yeah I’m sure because you knew him personally right?
@@ibanez33150 I actually did work with him and had the unique blessing of turning a work meet into a straight hangout at his place where we actually discussed this matter in particular among other things. So we may not have been best friends, but I can definitely tell you based on my experience that he was not.
Please return to your salty troll-hole. Cheers!

@Grave Hell yeah dude!! Lemmy is a good reason to do a lot of things: play bass, drink whiskey, be a good person, give no f*cks, all of the above 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Completely agree that Lemmy wasn't an exponent of Nazi ideas. He used to be a roadie for 60's Prog Rockers the Nice and when he saw Keith Emerson stabbing his Hammond Organ with knives on stage, suggested to the keyboard player in similar terms to that of Crocodile Dundee: if you're gonna use a knife, use a real knife and gave him some Hitler Youth daggers. These were later emblazoned with the ELP logo as the Nazi insignia would have quite rightly, been considered offensive. Another musician inextricably linked with both the 60s and Nazism is singer Chris Farlowe who sold German war memorabilia from a shop he owned in London. Farlowe always strenuously denies any political affiliation with the 3rd Reich.
Lemmy was a history nerd. He collected WWII stuff. Everybody knows that.
Exactly
That's exactly what I was gonna say.
People always got to talk shit on others whether they're alive or dead 💯🤦
@@floydsemlow8253 easy target when they've died. Scumbags
Furthermore, you can look up a video of Lemmy giving advice to a black heavy metal fan regarding racism. If he supported the Nazis in any way, he would never do that.
Let the man Rest in peace. He got asked that question so many times when he was alive. He denied it then. He was and always will be a Metal God. Let it go
They do this when someone dies because Lemmy isn’t here to yet again deny it there going to drag up shit there’s no such thing as rest in peace where the press are involved it’s pathetic they press do anything for money even sick crap like this
No, bring it up. He owned the uniforms and emblems to take them off of the market and take these things away from those getting a boner from Naziism and war in general.
Bring it up, and then what? Bring him to JUSTICE?? 😂 👌
@@darksunwithin Well no. It's just something that paints the whole picture of Lemmy. He wasnt just optically put on by the uniforms, he also liked to take fascistic opportunities away from people. A true Lad.
So why not bring it up? That's totally unlemmy and totally unmetal.
@@mista_ke sounds like you were his best friend your whole life, yet you don’t know shit abt him.
Lemmy was a lad, he was a historian, a rocker and a god damn legend.
I aspire to have the amount of knowledge on history he did.
I knew Lemmy and he was not a Nazi. I’ve seen him reading books on it. I think it was something that intrigued him.
Evil is interesting. That's why so many people like true crime, and serial killers movies. Doesn't mean they agree with it by any stretch of the imagination.
@@dishonoredundead exactly i got called one for learning about ww2 they dont understand what being a human is so they just spurt out random illogical bs and think we have to do something about it
@@dishonoredundead Yeah I understand. I watch a lot of mob movies and like reading about gangsters, but I do NOT condone their criminal lifestyle at all.
yeah he knew history repeats itself...just like now.
Lemmy was a history buff. Wasn't a Nazi lover. Let the dude RIP.
alt-right racist with a fascination for fascism, thats Lemmy.
"The only thing I'm prejudice against is assholes." Lemmy
Just because you are a history buff and are fascinated by the psychology of someone doesn't mean you support the views of that said person. World war 2 is a fascinating subject, how one man can mass so much power and influence over people and get them to do truly horrible things is mind boggling. Then theres the tactics of the actual war and fighting.... being interested in a subject doesn't mean you support the said subject.
Well said!
And at the end of the day the German Army had some cool shit that they wore and used. Same as the Japanese, Russians, and Americans etc. It's not like he only collected Nazi shit.
just like how people are fascinated serial killers. doesn't make people serial killer sympathizers.
you act as if there arent people just as bad nowadays.
@@outis439-A no one comes close today to the amount of power and influence hitler had. Today's dictators are largely beholden to politics in a way Hitler never had to contend with.
Sick of these wokes...pardon, wackos...
Yeah who hates nazis? Only those weirdos
I’m surprised people are just now making these kind of complaints; people need to understand what the iron cross truly mean. And other symbols.
People have been asking him this for years…
Sad that we live in a point in time where losers with nothing better to do are even trying to tarnish the legacy of the dead. Nobody's safe from these weirdos.
Let the man rest in peace.
Whoever said that Lemmy was a Nazi sympathizer doesn't know Motorhead's music or Lemmy's stellar legacy as a down to earth good guy that everyone loved and that loved everyone. Let him RIP and leave his legacy to the people that truly knew him.
Facts 👍🤘
someone has a homosexual experience with the Nazi Lemmy
RIP Lemmy. Absolute legend and one of the best rockers of all time. He was not a nazi and he had a heart of gold.
You cannot collect WWII memorabilia without German stuff. I have different German kit from then and am in NO way a Nazi. I am a retired US Paratrooper and am fascinated with the wars our country fought before my time. Some people are just into old military kit.
I was great friends with Lemmy even way back when hawkwind used to do gigs in little city’s like Norwich in the UK he was always the perfect gentleman he had such a big heart and I loved him I still do love him and miss him terribly it’s just typical that now Lemmy isn’t here to defend himself and not here to deny it YET AGAIN I know for a fact he was not like that
I never grew up during the 70’s and 80’s when Motörhead were at their peak but from what I’ve seen and heard of Lemmy he seems like a down to earth humble rockstar. The Term Nazi gets thrown around too many times nowadays
Its just idiots online, if the guitarist didn't reply to the guy then nobody would be talking about it..
It’s one of the worst things you can call someone so that’s why it’s thrown around. If someone was trying to insult a black person in the worst way possible, they’d call them the n word. There really isn’t anything like that for white people, so the word nazi is used to try and insult them as deeply as possible.
Lemmy said this once “lets say you were walking through the desolate forest in Berlin and the sun reflects something off the ground. You pick it up and find out its a rare WWII SS medallion. Would you or would you not take it home? Exactly. I like their stuff, not their Ideals”.
If there's one thing I can't stand, it's someone trying to stir up shit just for the sake of doing so. For fuck's sake, leave Lemmy alone and let him rest in peace. Anyone who has a clue about him knew he was a WW2 buff. And anyone who says otherwise doesn't know their ass from their elbow.
That’s those trying to be “woke” for you.
Real easy to come at someone who can't defend themselves. Let the man rest in piece for fucks sake.
People are so obsessed with calling people Nazi's for whatever reason nowadays
And the ones calling everybody else Nazis tend to act just like Nazis themselves.
Or socialists/marxists/liberals
@@Shagrath71 Yeah, it's terrorism by defention what every leftist does today.
"If you squeeze my lazer, I'll put my snake on you."
RIP Lemmy! I have no time for this nonsense....
It's amazing just how little respect people have. There's so many videos and stories of Lemmy being a straight up great man, yet some still question it? Smh
Never talk bad of the dead. Lemmy, Rest in Peace 🌌❤️
If you've read Lemmy's autobiography you'll know Lemmy never understood that phrase. If you were an asshole in life you're an asshole in death. Thankfully Lemmy was no asshole. In fact some of the greatest lessons in life I learnt from him. That being one of them. Don't waste good thoughts on dead wankers.
They talk bad about
The dead because they know they won’t have any comeback off said person I think Lemmy would
Have laughed at these idiots and told them to foof off 😂 sad times we Live in now sadly everyone is fair game to bullies
Lemmy's words , In 1967, I had my first black girlfriend, and a lot more ever since then. I just don't understand racism. I never thought it was an option.
Thank you. Was looking for someone to bring this up.
@@TXhooligan6
Most welcome . :)
The point is... Lemmy would not have given a FUCK what anyone thought, Rest in Peace, the world is less heavy without you.
Lemmy said it himself, "Imagine me walking up to the Führer with my black girlfriend... I'd be the worst Nazi there is."
The reason he had all the Memoribilia was, that he didnt want anyone else to own them. Bottom line.
Lemmy Kilmister is,was and always will be a legend.
Put some damn respect on Lemmys name absolutely ridiculous
I’ll bet if he had a confederate flag that would cross the line for you guys
Thank you!!
He actually had one and wore it a few times as well. I personally don’t think it stands for anything good, but bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Pantera have used the confederate flag as well back in the day.
Check out "Today Your Love, Tomorrow The World" by the Ramones.
This coming out now almost 6years later. Shame on them. I have 4tats of LEMMY shirts of him to. REST IN POWER LEMMY KILMISTER
I have a fascination in Nazis. Does not mean I am a sympathiser.
Dont speak Ill of the dead. Its disrespectful and cowardly because they can't defend themselves.
“I’ve had six black girlfriends so I’m one of the worst Nazis you ever met… If the Israeli army had the best uniforms I’d collect them, but they don’t.”
He was a great man and he remains a legend.
Legends never die. Even when they are killed by death.
The "i had a black girlfriend" excuse doesnt hold up knowing slave owners raped black women and conceived children with them, thank you very much Thomas Jefferson
@@aixelsydtcefrep8852 you wanna cry more or you gunna provide a stance? You think lemmy was a racist or not?
It would do the world a huge favor if people in general would focus 100% on working on THEMSELVES bettering their own lives instead of nit picking everyone & everything, what a waste of life. R.I.P. Lemmy, you are loved & missed my rock & roll brother from another mother!
Who cares. He was a legend either way. NOBODY CARES!
If Who cares, then someone cares.
this pisses me tf off, leave Lemmy to rest in peace! my grandfather also has various WWII memorabilia, it had been passed down from his father who fought in the war.
Who gives a flying fu*k ? Let the man rest in peace
wtf he was the single most tolerant and fair person ever
Oh man, came on, it's 2022. Lemmy is legend
Didn't Jeff Hanneman collect WWII stuff as well? No one had the nerve to call him a Nazi sympathizer after his death from what I remember.
I think they did
He’s a collector of artifacts as am I and not a natzi sympathizer, there’s videos of him explaining this, God Rest Your Soul Lemmy.
Knowing something about your enemy doesn't automatically *make* you your enemy.
Don’t fuck with Lemmy !!!
My buddy saw Motorhead a bunch back in the nineties and tells a story of some skinhead who pushed to the front and started sieg-heiling with the salute in front of Lemmy, who responded by unstrapping his bass, smacking him in the head with it, strapping back up and coming back in on the next measure. Dude was a consummate professional and a really good guy, his interviews are great evidence of that.
He had a collection of Nazi memorabilia , but so did Ron Ashton from the Stooges. The both had a attraction to the regalia. Not the mind set. If such a thing is possible , these days.
OK here is or has been the greatest thing about the United States. You could say anything you wanted to. Whether you are for, the KKK or Nazi's or whatever. It's always been up to us, the individuals whether or not to accept what these people are saying or ignore them and move on. This is called free speech and freedom of thought. Whether or not Lemmy was into Nazis was his business. If you don't like it then don't listen to his music. What I don't like now is all this big condemnation of people
and maybe even things they're associated with. The reaction is way, way overboard.
I think you're using very poor examples. I mean if somebody is into Nazis and the KKK, then I certainly DON'T want to be associated with them and they are definitely bad people if they support evil views like that. I mean the Nazis and KKK KILLED PEOPLE AND PROMOTE INTOLERANCE & FEAR. Condemning them is not being overboard but maintaining common decency. This is like saying you should accept the Taliban, Isis and other extremist groups.
Lemmy was clearly just interested in the historical aspect and not aligned with their beliefs. He understood the distinction.
You're wrong, If you're a nazi your SHOULD be condemned. Not all beliefs should be respected.
Just listen to any Lemmy interview and you will get an idea of exactly who is. He was a great guy who didn't give a shit about what anyone thought about him. Judge him on his character, not his history memorabilia!
There is no crime in collecting memorabilia and enjoying history.
he was 100% correct, the bad guys ALWAYS had the coolest umiforms!
Just straight up cool looking!
Lemmy had a show on MTV and I sent a letter to him.Telling him about being Part British, African, Native American and being hated for being a Metal maniac and he gave me the best advice and Ive taught this to me kids.Ask Slash if Uncle Lemmy is a Natzi .. He'll sort u all out .
Thou shalt not attempt to besmirch the name that is Lemmy
LEMMY COLLECTED HISTORICAL ARTIFACTS
The man loved America and collected all kinds of history stuff
Anyone accusing Lemmy of being a Nazi sympathizer, didn't know Lemmy.
He wasn't even close to racist. He even encouraged a black kid who was embarrassed for liking his music.
Lemmy was a history buff. The end.
I did not see this coming
Still made one of the greatest wrestling intros
People on the Internet should do a little historical research before posting nonsense like this. It takes almost zero effort to learn how pure Lemmy's heart was. The guy was most definitely NOT a racist or Nazi sympathiser.
As a historian myself, theres nothing wrong with collecting relics from wars even if they’re as evil as ww2 Germany. Japan and Germany were americas enemy but i can easily say they have some of the nicest looking pieces to collect. Buying it doesn’t mean you are supporting what they did back then. Just respecting it as a relic in time where the world was a little different
Jeez man!! Anybody seen the video of Lenny responding to a kids letter after reading it!!!??? The man was a legend and if anybody wants to tarnish a dead man’s name you are being ridiculous!!! This man lived his life free and the way he wanted!! Leave the man to be free in the afterlife!!
What loser goes after someone after they died?
Anyone claiming Lemmy was a NS should do some research into the man before spouting of such utter nonsense...
Might have to pop up at after shock
There is a video where he took time to answer a black kid's mail about being a metal fan and him encouraging the kid not to give a fuck what other people think. I doubt a nazi would take the time out of his schedule to do that.
Lenny did have a point about the being a professor & about religion
Im in chock, people even asking the question, if he was a nazi or not…. The answer is normal knowlegde.
Wow even the dead cant rest in peace
People throw that word around like confetti. Pathetic.
Same thing happened to Slayer.
I wonder if they’re talking about the real nazis or the neo nazis. Or people who don’t think children should be in gay strip clubs
So why even bring it up? He was clearly a man of the people: great mates with people of all races and sexuality. It’s just a nasty accusation about a great man
"I dont undastand racism, how can you not like a guy 500miles away just because hes black."
it could be argued he simply liked to collect historic Hugo Boss garments
I’m Hispanic n I remember in 3rd grade my teacher was Jewish. An 1 of 2 my only friends was German. His grandfather was a nazi. An he sort of was influencing him. I meet his parents an came over my house. An after researching ww2 I was hooked! Trying to understand how some ppl massacred others for being different beliefs. An though the nazis were horrible they did have nice uniforms.
Honestly didn't know that he was a history buff, I have even more respect for him now.
Rest in peace Lemmy he was an amazing person and a great musician love always Lemmy keep playing that Ace of Spades
Rock in Power Uncle Lemmy 🤘🏿.Phil and Mickey are holding down the fort. While you and Philthy and Fast Eddie are Jammin and partying with Jimi, Dime and Vinnie Paul and more.Getcha Pull 🥃-Cheers 🍻🤘🏿😈😎🤘🏿
I watched a documentary a few years ago where he admitted that one of his best friends was a gay black man from George who was also a musician. So there is no way he was filled with that kind of hate.
Trying to stain the memory of a legend in music is just pathetic and cowardly.
The only people who thought he was a Nazi sympathizer was never a true fan and didn't even know what he stood for. He had a black ex-girlfriend at one time, and even said she was the love of his life.
ASK ROB RALFORD !
Ive been in to history sense I was a little kid for years now and I can tell you lemmy knew history and the fact that he found those uniforms and those eras in history so Interesting proovs it

Cant get anybody alive to care about your opinion so you have to disparage the name of someone who's passed. What a class act 👎Rest in Rock Lemmy🤘
Fuck the haters!
It was just fascinating to him
Context is something that doesn't exist in this age 😖
Surprised this video was even made
The dude was into collecting history, that don’t make him a person that lives by the values they are associated with. He was a really cool down to earth guy. The people who say this nonsense have never met or hung out with him.
He said he didn't understand racism so it wouldn't make sense.
Hugo boss had some nice suits, can't blame the man
Lemmy was an absolute gentleman.
