As an Hawks fan, I love this deal. We're getting a good POA defender in Dyson Daniels(something that the Hawks lacked this season) and a solid backup center in Larry Nance Jr. The picks themselves are also pretty good. Woj has implied that the Hawks market isn't over yet, so I heavily suspect that one player between Capela and Okongwu is getting traded (probably the former, possibly both). It wouldn't surprise me if the FO aimed for Ayton or Claxton

As a Hawks fan, I have a lot of thoughts: if one of the 2 would be traded I wanted it to be Murray. Just as an organization it’s the right move to keep the homegrown kid who’s proven he can take you places. I hope Daniels isn’t another AJ Griffin. Hopefully we actually make an attempt to develop him bc he’s a super good defender and has incredible size and court vision. He’d be a good complement to Trae if he can improve his catch and shoot but he can also run the 2nd unit off the bench so I like that versatility if we use him. Getting Nance just tells me we’re almost for sure gonna trade Clint, which I want to happen. I honestly hope we trade Deandre with him and get like a really solid defensive SG who can be a decent secondary ball handler and creator for the two of them. If we get rid of Murray, Deandre, and Clint it does a few things in my eyes. Way more minutes for Zacchary and hopefully a good lineup for him to shine and grown in. Finally giving big O the starting center job and letting him thrive. And of course letting Trae fully run the show again. All of that and getting 2 1st back (one is a Lakers) for an experiment that cost us 3 1st isn’t the worst thing in the world. If we do trade Clint (and hopefully Deandre) then I like this as a “first move” of the offseason following the draft. Lastly, just remember the team Trae took to the ECF in 2021. Don’t doubt a high usage rate, fully ball dominate Trae Young led team.
Pelicans fan here, dice can catch and shoot it’s off the dribble that’s the problem. He isn’t very confident on offense. Larry is smart a good 3 point shooter on low volume though and great for a locker room.

First is he wants a max and i don't think the pelicans can afford that, second, if you keep BI and don't get a Center who can space the floor even a little bit, you have two average 3pt shooters in DJ and BI, then you have to choose between either CJ or Herb at the 2 essentially sacrificing either 3pt shooting ot defense, Zion doesn't shoot so, the only 3 people on the team that can reliably shoot from 3 are CJ, Trey and Hawkins. that's nowhere near enough, which is why BI needs to go and Trey take his space.
Now that we’ve fleeced the hawks now we gotta trade BI for a center and either bench cj or trade him. Murray, Jones, Murphy, Zion, and whatever center they get in the trade is the best way to go imo

I love this trade for Atlanta. We all knew they were either going to trade one of Trae Young or Dejuounte Murray. They get an amazing defender and two future first round picks is good value for Dejounte Murray in my opinion.
Everybody also needs to remember that just because the Knicks severely overpaid for Bridges doesn’t mean that some other team like the Pelicans are gonna overpay for D. Murray. You would like the Hawks to have gotten more draft assets for Murray obviously but it’s not a bad return for him.
I think Dyson is a better defender but not as smart or good at offense but, you also need to take into consideration the fact that Dyson is only 21 and Jose is going on 26
I mean it sucks giving up the best player in the deal but after running it back for the most part, Atlanta has a vision of what they want. ZR and Dyson are these tall lengthy defenders that can shoot (Dyson tbd). Maybe they are trying to be like the Knicks last year and if they keep the pick, the lakers are one AD or Lebron injury away from stinking.
If the Pels don’t make another trade, then they’re going into the season with little to no bench depth.. which is a step back no matter how you try to look at it.
Having all these ball handlers who are aren’t efficient three point shooters plus whatever center they get, seems like they’re gonna have some awful spacing and three point volume between DJM, Ingram, Zion and Capela or Kessler for example. CJ can shoot but he still needs the ball as well. Move Ingram to Philly for the Clippers picks and replenish the picks they lost and then get Kessler or some other starting center. Possibly move CJ as well if not try to get him off the bench and start Trey and Herb. Much more balanced team around Zion.
Two first rounders for Dejounte is a steal. Dyson hurts to lose, but Murray averaged like 25 when Trae was hurt last year. He's a premier scorer and above average defender. Definitely a win for the Pels.

Then you got Jose and Trigga from the bench. All you need to somehow extend Naji. Hes a missing piece. Get Boogie or Howard as a backup C in case our rookie going to fail. I mean if Willie not going to fail, this lineup will go to Western finals at least. Even Zion will get injured again.

They just cannot afford to extend Ingram. They will trade him for a center & a couple of bench players. They will also sign a cheap backup 5.
For this to work for the pels they have to stay healthy otherwise the trade doesn't help much.
