This is so encouraging! I have planned to do both math with confidence and math u see with my incoming first grader, it’s so neat to see another family doing those together!
Totally agree about BFB! We initially got the books for that and will still read them, but we are using The Waldock Way’s Travel Around the World to dive deeper. BYL looks great too!
That was so helpful, I’m also in Georgia and this year I’ll have a first grader. I’m super excited and a bit apprehensive for all the extra load now that I’ll have two students doing all the subjects. Thanks!! You motivate me so much!
We love Build Your Library! We are about to wrap up week 5 with my kindergartener and my soon to be tag along prek kid. So far my son really enjoys many of the Spines. His favorite so far is the Children just like me book and he loves the map keys in the atlas book. He’s a facts guy. I’m doing my best to do all the crafts but honestly that’s been the best part. I am not a crafty person but I’m surprised how much we are getting into it. So many rabbit trails. We needed something like this. I’d love an update video in the future to see how it went for you ❤
I was just looking at Sonlight K for my children! Could you possibly talk more into depth about it or a flip through? There isn't a whole lot on UA-cam!
I decided to use Memoria press enrichment program. The entire program (science, social studies, art and music) is built into story books. We are really enjoying it.
Hi! We also use a curriculum that has the Smithsonian Children's Atlas as a spine. That may work great for your family and I hope it does! I also added the Our World in Pictures: Countries of the World into our curriculum to fill in gaps that I noticed in The Children's Atlas. For example, the Children's Atlas only provides information for the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa, whereas Countries of the world provides information for the DRC and Congo since they are two separate countries. Neither book is perfect, but they work well together!
We used BYL 0 this year in k. We moderately liked it, but it wasn't the best. Hopefully you like it better. We did add a lot of UA-cam videos. There are great traveling kids videos, as well as kids trying food from different cultures. My son enjoyed those.
Could you possibly do a video on the sonlight science curriculum? I’m very interested but can’t find much out there and totally trust your opinions. Thank you!
Time is flying..I can't believe you have a first grader! I thought "Editing Brittany" wouldn't show up until after the first six weeks of school...lol! I am so glad you found everything and at a reasonable price 🧡.
Love your videos! But quick question, how do you juggle the use of two math curriculums? Do you alternate every other day or week? Or do you do two lessons daily? I’ve always wanted to use two maths but I’m not sure how I can juggle them especially since I’m homeschooling 3 different grades plus now a preschooler.
I would love to learn more about Build Your Own Library. I am trying to think about how I want to approach history with my younger two and all I know is I want it to be very literature heavy.
Thanks for the look at your curriculum picks. Nice selection. I do have a question, where did you get that wooden book rack with the baskets that sits in the back? I have been looking at something similar but all the ones like that I see are plastic. I would much rather have something like that. Thanks again for the look at these. It is always helpful seeing these and getting ideas.
Thank you so much! I’ve been on the fence with Sonlight science but getting it cheaper from Rainbow Resources confirmed my choice. Just ordered! Thank you for sharing that tidbit!
For Science K you can buy the videos by themselves, my kiddos love them! They were a great addition. And show you how to do all the experiments. And totally doable for 2 days a week by combining lessons.
Hello Brittany for the handwriting course Handwriting without tears did you also purchase the teacher’s guide or just bought the student workbook? Thank you😊
How do you schedule 2 maths, especially interested in 1st grade. Do you do both every day? Do you do a whole week of mwc plus a week of mathusee in the same week or do you spread things out over the summer?
Love your videos! I had a few questions. I am looking into several spelling programs and wondered- what made you choose a different spelling program than the all about spelling since you are doing all about reading? Is Explode the code considered a second curriculum for phonics? Is it hard for her to go between two?
Did you ever consider using "story of the world" curriculum for history? I'm trying to consider it because my local library has it in stock, which means I could do 4 years of history for free, but not sure if the content is rich/rigorous enough. 🤔🤷♀️ What would you do?
Build your library actually uses Story of the world in the later years. I think that is a great option especially since you already have access to it 😍
I’ll look forward to your BYL review. We finally decided to drop it because the book list content felt too mature for my kids ages ☹️ hope it works for your kids!!
Can you show a video on how you incorporate both math programs? I would love to see that!
Please do an update on the Build Your Own Library 0. It looks very interesting. I have not heard of this one.
I agree. I am very interested in hearing how this curriculum goes and perhaps a final review at the end.
Could you do a video showing us how you pack everything into a week of planning ? That would be helpful 😃
This is so encouraging! I have planned to do both math with confidence and math u see with my incoming first grader, it’s so neat to see another family doing those together!
We do two math curricula as well. Math u see with the good and the beautiful math! I love pairing the mastery with spiral.
As you know, we did 1st Grade MWC alongside MUS Alpha and we loved it. BYL Level 0 looks really cool! So many beautiful books!
Totally agree about BFB! We initially got the books for that and will still read them, but we are using The Waldock Way’s Travel Around the World to dive deeper. BYL looks great too!

You found some great picks! I def have to check out that what you're using for world history.

Do you mind sharing your daily/weekly schedule for your rising first grader?
Great picks!!!! You can totally combine the Sonlight science days- sometimes we do the whole week in one day :D
Most excited for Melanated Tales. I will have to look that up and add those books to our home library!
I was just looking at Sonlight K for my children! Could you possibly talk more into depth about it or a flip through? There isn't a whole lot on UA-cam!
This was so helpful! Making the jump from Kinder to 1st grade has been a struggle for me 😅

Would you recommend All about Reading Level 1 for a 6 year old learning to read ? Or would you start with the Pre-Reading ? 😊
Love the Sonlight K Science. Love to see a flip through of that! 😊
We'll be wrapping up BYL Level 0 in a few weeks and my kids have loved it! I hope your rising first grader enjoys it as well.
With the curriculums, are you buying the whole kit? Like the manuals and stuff
Yep Spencer’s videos have been sooo helpful! I can’t wait to get the books.
They are really so cute 🥰

Enjoyed the video as always! You have made some great choices for the upcoming school year. The Sonlight science curriculum looks very interesting.

Totally forgot about Explore the Code. I agree, it's simplistic but amazing at reinforcing concepts. 🎉
Thank you so much! I’ve been on the fence with Sonlight science but getting it cheaper from Rainbow Resources confirmed my choice. Just ordered! Thank you for sharing that tidbit!
I love the math with Confidence curriculum. It's so good.
Build Your Library looks so interesting! We used BFB and it was just okay. I think you made a good choice 😊
Can you share why you didn't use Oak Meadow 1?
For Science K you can buy the videos by themselves, my kiddos love them! They were a great addition. And show you how to do all the experiments. And totally doable for 2 days a week by combining lessons.
I love your choices! I am still looking for my first grader, so this is helpful.
Great information, thanks!
Hi! Love your choices! I also follow spencer, great minds think alike. Great job like always
Hello Brittany for the handwriting course Handwriting without tears did you also purchase the teacher’s guide or just bought the student workbook? Thank you😊
No I did not buy the teachers guide . All
The instructions I needed was in the student workbooks at the top of each page. ❤️
I love what you post!!!!
How do you schedule 2 maths, especially interested in 1st grade. Do you do both every day? Do you do a whole week of mwc plus a week of mathusee in the same week or do you spread things out over the summer?
I clicked so fast! Excited to see what you’ve picked ❤ I always trust what you choose & your opinion.
Aww Thank you so much 💛
@@brittanyolga how do you use both math curriculums?
Can you add the spelling connection to your Amazon store I can’t seem to find it
I ordered it from rainbow resources. ❤️
Love your videos! I had a few questions.

Is Explode the code considered a second curriculum for phonics? Is it hard for her to go between two?
We LOVE Build Your Library level - 0 so much fun ❤
I am so excited too !!! I have a feeling the whole family will love it 😍
Where can i purchase this curriculum

And we LOVE bookshark (sonlight) science! We’re 4 weeks in and obsessed !!
Bookshark science is so good! Using the first level for my K and 2nd grader together right now and will be continuing with the next level next year👍🏽
Casper Forges
