Great build and nice history lesson Raoul. I have fond memories of building the original boxing as a kid when I went to visit my grandparents. I have toyed with redoing the paint and details of the model more accurately, but I think I might just leave it as is from probably 40 years ago.

Very cool! Yes, leave it alone and start another build from a fresh kit!

That brings back memories. I owned a 67 GT 500 427 Shelby and a 1970 Boss 302 Mustang. The Boss was so fun to drive. Miss those cars.

Very cool. Would love to have driven both! The 67 GT500 is at the top of my list!

Hey Robert, I think you meant a 428 in the Shelby GT500. Unless yours had an engine swap to a 427? There were only 3 prototype Shelby’s built with a 427. The standard engine was the Police Interceptor 428. Even that engine was a ground pounder, and the 302 was a wonderful light engine that made the Boss 302 handle so well in TransAm racing!
      To bad you sold them!

@@medic53067 No it was a 427, the previous owner blew up the 428 and I replaced it with a 427 4 bolt.

@@robertforrest1763 that was good luck for you! 427’s are quite a bit rarer than the 428! And if set up well, they were beasts!

As you said, those of us running Cobra Jets back in the old days could outrun stock Boss Mustangs. The 428's torque curve was wider than the 429's. I saw similar action between the 3-carb 440's and the Street Hemis. But both hemi head engines would run you down on the far end if they were properly upgraded, of course.
Kaase has Boss upper end kits that use standard 460 blocks. At some point I will have one complete at about 545 inches. Target car? A 1973 Montego GT sportsroof, which I have sitting here with its original standard 429. I bought it from an estate years ago that had 20-odd Muscle Mopars and the one Mercury. That should catch the cruise-in crowd off guard, I think. It's a full-frame car (no shock towers) with an HD C6 and 9-inch, so the Boss swap needs no real mods at all. Well, maybe the headers. I have a big itch to leave the cruise control working.

Very cool. Yes, I have heard of Jon Kaase and his Boss conversations. Very cool stuff. I think I mentioned to you that I’m slowly building a 440 based 512 stroker for my 71 Fury Wagon (Sport Suburban) and it looks like a 70 as I changed the hood, hide a way grill and valance for 70 items. I’m also planning on adding the FI tech 6 pack to it!

Nice model! 69 & 70 are my favorite Mustang body style. That Testors French Blue is very similar to Tamiya French Blue (spray can) and Sky Blue (bottle).

Both Mustangs are nice looking builds and have survived very well. I really like the color choices on the ‘70. The blue with the white interior looks awesome. Since you have plenty of kits of these, you should build one for every color that was offered. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I’m tempted to do that. I did buy enough 69 Boss 302s to do that. Those only came in 4 colors and I have built two of them.

As always thanks for posting yet another excellent video, Raoul. The Revell '69 & '70 Boss 429 Mustangs you built are sharp looking and the paint on them really looks great especially in sunlight!

This is the baddest muscle car out there imho. Mine is still sitting half built. I have a bent hood issue to overcome. May be it is time to find a replacement on ebay. You built yours super nicely! Another nice Monogram 1/24 kit. Your 69 is 1/24th or 1/25th?

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler

At the time I used Testor’s Model Master French Blue. Now discontinued.

Great builds, as I have a '70 429 from around '85-86 built it Calypso Coral redid it as a racer but with the 428 CJ Auto from the Talladega kit. Also reworking one in your fav. color Pastel Blue/white interior ( which is quite nice), then I add the '69 builds in 1/25 about 14-15 going on in various states of progress. Thought I was the only one. Thanks for sharing. Will have to send U some pics.

Yes for the new release car kits. Some are still $24 but they have the 40% off regularly.

Ah! Really enjoyed your review! And Thank You for mentioning me! I haven't had much time to work on my Mustang projects, but hopefully will very soon. I do have two bodies painted, but still need to finish buffing out the finish. The original 429 engine is assembled - at least the engine block and transmission and the seam has been filled and sanded. Some chassis work has been done as well. Hopefully I will have some time this week to make more progress. Will be looking for a nice 1969 Mach1 next! Thanks again for the awesome review! Cheers

Blue Ox Model Shop channel has a street machine buddy build going this year, and Frank's Model Works channel is doing a '70 in maroon for that group build.
If you want to do the '70 in Grabber Green with white interior, you would be right in that group build wheelhouse.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler

Yes. I get sucked in to some of those as well plus another Porsche build. I built a Porsche because of all the videos but really didn’t post much of the build. I have three Mustangs I’m working on now anyways.

It would be great if Revell-Monogram would reissue this kit, according to Scalemates the last time they released the Boss 429 was in 2011. I would love to build one in grabber green with the white interior, the way you said you plan to build your next one.

Lots of kits have not been seen for awhile but Revell of Germany seems to be only issuing a few at a time.

Another one that got away for me. I had this kit in the mid-1990s and painted it orange at first, but then I decided I didn't like that color and painted it in a dark red similar to your 1969 kit. I used the optional ten spoke wheels that were also used on the 1966 GT350 because I liked the way they looked, but when I put them on the GT350 the tires were a bit too tall for it. I still have the decal sheet for this kit somewhere though I doubt those can be used now.
