_"Long before time had a name, the first Spinjitzu master created Ninjago..."_ This is the best way to explain the entire LEGO Ninjago lore with one single quote.
As a huge Ninjago fan it honestly surprised me how you didn't really mention Kai's arc. One of, if not my favourite parts of season one is Kai's journey of realising he isn't worthy to be the Green ninja, how he's too impatient and selfish, and the way it all culminates in that scene in the volcano really gets me. I will never forget that moment just before the final battle where Lloyd asks Kai to fight with him and Kai just tells Lloyd "This is your fight." It really speaks to Kai's development as a character that he is able to deny Lloyd's offer because he now knows his place in the world. It goes without saying that Kai is my favourite character but I still think I would have this opinion even if he wasn't, it's just a really good arc for him, especially considering there aren't really any other arcs going on in the early seasons. I'm glad to see you give Ninjago a fair shake instead of instantly dismissing it as a dumb show for kids, and I hope you'll be pleasantly surprised at how well done (at least in my opinion) seasons 3-6 are (not saying the ones after are bad but these are pretty much the crème of the crop).
I mean, a channel that talks about all of the cool kids shows would probably be the last person to dismiss a show as just "a dumb kids show", but yeah it's cool
I agree. In fact, even though the show would often center around all of the main characters, I always considered Kai to be the main protagonist, even though Lloyd is the true hero. I mean, it started with Kai, the Ninjago theme marketing always have a red color scheme indicating that it's about Kai, and that it did center around him in the show 3 times.
Kai's true potential was him realizing he didn't need to be the most important and he didn't need to be the one saving the day. Not just valuing human life
The fact that Lloyd does not want to be the chosen one or to fight makes the story far more interesting in my eyes. The lack of motivation is what makes it compelling, as its an outside force in his life that pushes him to that end, at least to begin with. I understand that you think it feels empty, but I think it adds more depth.
Zane was hands down my favorite character as a tiny child and he still is. I got so attached to him that I almost quit watching after season 3 ended Like That and shattered me into a million tiny little pieces, until someone spoiled me for what happened in season 4 and I hopped right back on board. I love the rest of the team, too, but Zane is my child
Zane's death shattered my little child heart so much that I couldn't even stand to see the color white ever again. RIP to my cousin's who had to deal my dramatic shit as a kid.
The episode where we learn about Zane's dad and his "death" in s3 DESTROYED my Zane loving heart. Zane was always my favorite as a kid and I'm so sad that they did him so dirty in the later seasons. Also the Falcon's theme goes way harder than it has any right to. Big props to whoever composed it. 👍
I CRIED when he pasted. By the time the new season was getting teased my interest was peaked but I was still upset. Then he came back. A year ago, being 16, I watched it again and cried agian. SO I have marked myself a baby T-T
I'm a little surprised you didn't mention how big of a deal the mystery of who was gonna be the green ninja was to the young fans of the show. Like it was the talk around elementary schools. And it was the biggest deal between my siblings and I. I remember going to visit my foster parent's place, and I know I could get summaries of episodes before they came out on her TV. I found out before my siblings that Lloyd was gonna be the green ninja, and my foster parent told me I had to keep it a secret. It was a cultural phenomenon for the small kids.
I remeber those days. My friends and I had absolute debates about who it was. I was convinced it was Zane, while someone else said Jay and another said Nya. All of us had very solid arguments too. Zane has vision powers of some kinds and can have prophetic dreams, Jay's elements is extremely powerful if used properly and Nya is the only one that wasn't officially part of the team yet so maybe they were simpky teasing her element. None of us right, but it was still fun.
I remember I was a kid when the first season came out and it was a massive mind shattering reveal about Lloyd being the green ninja. The first couple of seasons still hold up till this day. My persoanl favorite is the tournament of elements just for how hilariously insaine Master Chen is. Also, sensational garmadon with his backstory adn snarky personality is a lot more fun character than evil garmadon.
I think my favorite episode from that season has got to be ninja roll. The insaine lengths Chen goes to in order to make Lloyd fail is insaine. He puts spike on the track, gives large monster truck vehicles to the other team, puts wrecking balls on the track, and then almost resolves ot using magic just to make Lloyd loose. Plus, the best part of the episode is Garmadon saying, you always cheated and claus saying, You didn’t care with misako. Perfectly setting up that bombshell of a reval later where Chen intercepted the letter to Misako from Wu and tempted Garmadon to change it to his name insuring Lloyd’s birth. Probably playing some crazy long game. I wouldn’t be super surprised.
Oh man, I can't wait for you to continue checking out the series. I think you'll definitely enjoy Seasons 4-5, and 8-9 for more Lloyd and Garmadon conflict. Thank you for having me and I'm glad you found some enjoyment from this series. So on behalf of us Ninjago fans, Thank You for this incredible and hilarious video. Can't wait to see you continue The Way Of The Ninja.
I will say some off the critique you gave does actually get fixed and expanded upon in later seasons, Lloyd and Garmadon’s dynamic with each other (Lloyd’s daddy issues have grown exponentially), Nya and Jay’s relationship, the dynamic within the group, some really good villains come up, the animation, the comedy and writing gets better and the world building expands a whole ton. I hope you get to watch all the seasons, I rewatched all of them at the start of the school year and absolutely love it.
As a kid with autism I related to Zane because he was misunderstood by everyone else and thought differently and I saw myself in that As an adult with autism I relate more to Jay and his inability to read the tone of a room, as well as his silly hyperfixation on that one comic series he loves so much. I project into him a lot I wouldn’t say that Zane was intended to be an autistic character, and I definitely wouldn’t say that him being a robot was meant to dehumanize him or anything through that interpretation (other robots like Pixal and Cryptor are more neurotypical for example, and Zane is VERY human), but he could be both without one affecting the other. He’s a robot who happens to have autism! But in my own personal autistic opinion, Jay has it too
i totally agree w zanes possible unintentional autism portrayal in the first seasons its like “damn zanes weird bcs hes a robot” but then you meet pixal and ur like nah bro hes just weird bcs hes weird and my favorite zane moment it’s when in s8 someone (i think jay) says like partypooper and zane is like actually concern bcs he didnt understand it was not literal
Exactly! I know it's easy to look back on a show, movie, etc. nowadays and claim that a certain character has "x condition/diagnosis/disposition " all along, when in reality it just kinda happened. It also speaks to the strength of Zane's character as well: while he's certainly learned many things being with the ninja, he doesn't understand every social cue/norm. Most everyone around him seem/act "normal " in terms of behavior while Pixal is closer to your classic, fictitious interpretation of a robot with a neat personality attached to it; Zane admirably rests somewhere in the middle. We all have little traits, dispositions, and quirks that offset us from the norm. I don't have autism, but I find Zane just as relatable and endearing as any of the other characters, autism or no autism.
Zane is so human that to me it doesn't matter, he's autistic *and* a magic ninja robot (oh my god, he's a magic ninja robot, where else have you seen robots with magic powers)
Having also grown up on the spectrum with this show I just adore Zane and how after the reveal of him being a robot the team is just overall more understanding. And how even before the reveal when Kai was shit talking about him to master wu that we get this gem of a quote “what is weird? Someone that is different or someone that is different from you?” Intentional or not I think Zane is just a really positive character who’s accepted by his team unconditionally
Lego Ninjago was definitely one of the shows me and my brother bonded over, during our childhood. I still remember late night marathons of watching season 1 and 2 together. I remember Zane being my favourite character, love his backstory and personality. Zane reminds me of Ice Bear ❄️
one of the best decisions they made was making Kai the main character only for the intro specials, and turning him into just another member of the team in the actual show. it helps introduce the concept, by showing it through the eys of someone whose never seen it before; and then quickly slot him into place as part of a team of equals instead of one guy and his mini army
The final season of the Original show, which ended in October 2022, was Season 15, AKA Crystalized. The first season of the new show, Dragons Rising, is coming out in June this year, making it the 16th season overall, but not the 16th season of the original show.
Ninjago has honestly changed my life. The Ninja were the first ever humans I drew back in 2011. As a kid Ninjago taught me that ninja never quit and now all of these years later I am able to make money off of my art. I have professional contacts all around the art industry, even one at lego, and its certain that this ninja will never quit.
Ninjago is easily my top 1 childhood show. I watched up to all of what was on Netflix last year, though I’m way far behind now. Very interested to see how this goes. Edit: 40:19 oh hey that’s me
Yeah they recently got all the seasons (other than the pilot and day of the departed) BUT they’re also planning to release their latest series as soon as the next month! (after May) Happy watching my dude! Hope you enjoy the show!!
The generally accepted reason for why lloyd got aged up is because of the lego figures - kid lloyds minifigure had small legs, meaning they didnt bend like normal size lego legs do (nowadays there's also a middle size for legs which are shorter than normal and bend, but theyre still longer than small legs, but they didnt exist back then) so in order for lloyd to fit on spinners and sets with places for legos to sit in, they had to give him normal legs and decided to explain that by aging him up. also it maybe because it would be weird for a kid to have to seemingly fight his father to death, but its probably mostly the legs as for why the first few episodes of season 2 are so different from the rest of the season and why the Mega Weapon arc ended so weirdly - the writers didnt know who the villain of the season was gonna be at the time but had to start writing the episodes so they decided to do fun fillers with a bunch of movie references
As someone who was 8, almost 9, when the first season premiered, this show has meant a lot to me. Even today as I anticipated the next installment and have every set from the 15th season, I wouldn't be who I am without it
A lot of people thought it ended after season 15 as well, but the show is still going to this day and is actually starting a whole new phase that they’ve said will be a story that takes place for the next few years. Ninjago ain’t going anywhere for a while and I am so happy about that. Cause I love Ninjago and it’s a show that I will always love.
Watching this review made me realise how the show actually fixed/explained things as it went on to further seasons. So it continuing after season 2 is the best timeline
Ninjago was easily one of the best shows I watched growing up. I stopped watching after season ten or so, but tbh I would love to return to it one of these days, even though I've had some massive things spoiled lol.
I stopped after season 12 or 13 because the quality drop. I didn't care about the writing quality, or the continuity errors throughout the show, because it was still engaging. However, the animation just took a nosedive in quality, and that's when I thought the series was going to be nearing it's end. That there were gonna be too many budget cuts and pretty soon the show was not gonna end with a bang, but as a dying ember. I'm surprised to see it's still going.
This show defined my childhood and I would not be where I am now if it wasn't for it (and a series of butterfly effects), so it holds a very special place in my heart. That being said, in my opinion, the quality of the characters and storyline has plummeted since 2018 (basically since the Hageman brothers left). I basically hate watch it now and wish I would stop but given my emotional attachment to it I'll probably never stop lol. Super excited for the video!
Ninjago isn't a forgotten series, but I find for a lot of people (like me) it's on a back burner as in I would hear about it but had no clue what it was about and with all the seasons it has it's a bit jarring to think about checking it out. However, videos like this are a good way to explain it to people and give them at least a better understanding of it. So, thanks for that! I will say, if you liked Ninjago you should check out Lego Monkie Kid. It's another lego series but it's 2D animated and they base the series around the Journey to the West as in it's a semi sequel to it and it really works. The writing and characters are just so good, but it's still funny and fun, and it has cool lego sets. Highly recommend.
I've been on the fence with Monkey Kid. I always thought it was a crime to have LEGO SERIES be 2D animated. But I was won over with just one quote from the show. "Why a little water never hurt anybo- oooohhhh yeeeaaaahhhh mortality." Plus, I've been watching a few Chinese movies that take the original Chinsese mythos and put a spin on them. Like Nezha Reborn, Yang Jian, White Snake, Green Snake, Nezha Birth of the Demon Child, Jiang Ziya Legend of Defections, etc etc. So Monkey Kid just has to be next on the list. At least while I wait for the Chang'an movie to come out and for Deep Sea to be internationally available. Do anyone know where I can watch Monkey Kid? I don't have Apple TV, so I can't watch it there.
The thing i remembered the most was just how weirded out i was by them aging up Lloyd because it makes basically any future relationship with him pretty weird especially the romantic ones
(Sorry this is so long, I loved the video and can't wait to see more) As someone who has been watching Ninjago since it started, I have to let you know: You CAN NOT skip any season of this show. The interesting thing about Ninjago is that every cause has an effect, and details, mentions, and characters constantly come back into the show. The ending of S1, will come back later, Dareth, the guy who stopped the indestructible army, comes back many times, you didnt mention Captain Soto, but spoiler alert, he will come back. This show is constantly folding in over itself, and its kind of fascinating to see and HELL to explain.Good luck. Because this show isn't about plot, it really goes into the characters and the world around them, allowing them to have the wackiest adventures just because its cool and fun. and because the lore is added on modularly, by season, to anyone hearing it it sounds crazy but in the show it makes sense. A few more things: - The Mega Weapon Thing is one of, if not the biggest plot holes in the series, and at this point it's been so many years since it happened that like. don't even worry about in fact don't talk about it im tired of this debate just forget it the series did - Seasons 4/5 are probably the best seasons to really get what Ninjago is like, and are widely beloved, so are s8/9 - The timeline of this show is crazy, it took 7 years to make the first 7 seasons, 2011-2018, and then from 2018-2023 they made 8 seasons. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ how???? I DONT KNOW EITHER :D!!! - Nowadays people like the movie more, including me, because its like high school vigilante au and it's kinda goofy and fun. BUT, the movie's influence over the show was. kinda devastating (not all in a bad way). At the time people didn't like it because it was nothing like the show, including none of the og voice cast and having different designs and focusing on Lloyd, who. was no one's favorite character at the time (lmao rip). Honestly. the movie kinda reads like. they asked someone off the street to tell them about ninjago and the poor soul hadn't seen past half way thru s2, so they did their best trying to describe what they remember, but ultimately, they didnt even remember the snakes (💀) BUT because of it they were going to be changing the show to be more like the movie, which quite frankly, seemed rude to change a 7 year old show because of the whims of a movie who couldn't even be bothered to make the ninja real friends. Since then, people have grown to like the new designs, and Lloyd's new VA has done amazing, and it have us the absolute BANGER of the dual seasons 8/9, which really made Lloyd into an actual character. I can't explain it, but there was something missing from him in previous seasons that 8/9 managed to give him. MY OPINION: Unfortunately, since then I personally feel the show has slowly turned into more about Lloyd, and I dont think the 11 minute episode format season 11 and on have helped. I feel like starting in s8 Lloyd has barely talked with his friends even once, and in s11 on they feel more like quippy coworkers when before they constantly declared each other family.
25:20 Didn't you get the message? They specifically state how dangerous it is to use the tornado of creation. They only used it that one time because they were desperate and saw no other way out and were even hesitant to do it because of that very reason.
I've been keeping up with this show since 2013, and it's probably been the biggest hyperfixation I've ever had. Honestly a lot of the opinions you had on the first 2 seasons are the same as my own, (except I prefer 1 to 2 because of how disjointed the second feels) and I really enjoyed this outside look into the show! This video came at a good time honestly, because the show's getting ready to go into a new direction for like, the fourth time. But it honestly looks really interesting to me, and I really hope that this is the reset that I've been hoping for! My overall feelings on Ninjago are hard to place because of how some seasons are Way Better than others, but I'd say that what you said about just having fun with it really is the most important part. I don't think most of the hardcore fans think that this show is a masterpiece or anything, we're just really here to try and have a good time! And yeah, the writing makes me want to pull my hair out at times, but I do just ultimately want to enjoy myself by watching the stupid lego spinning ninja show!
Can't wait until you make the next video! Ninjago was a part of my childhood and I still appreciate the series to this day. Even though it's made for a much younger age group, it has certain elements that still appeal to me and it's fun to see how the series has evolved over the years.
About the Zane nuerodivergent situation, I think that might just be 2011. Zane is my favourite ninja, and Im autistic. I’ve been watching the show since early 2015. I think the fact that they don’t usually single out Zane for being a robot and while not completely forgetting about it makes the allegory of Zane representing nuerodiversity pretty well written. I think just the fact writing for autistic characters weren’t really that obvious or present back in 2012 is the reason for Zane’s nuerodiversity being compared to robots. It seems like ninjago is slowly getting better in terms of nuerotypical and disabled representation, as in Dragons Rising coming out next month, they seem to be having a disabled character with Sora, and in Crystallised they mentioned Jay having model trains when he was a kid (which is like the most autistic character trope in the universe lol), and also physical disability representation they introduced Cyrus Borg in rebooted who uses a wheelchair. However, the rep doesn’t really hurt the show which is great. I just hope we will get more direct rep at some point, but I’ll still watch the show no matter what. I even collect the sets and mini figures which are super cool 😊 If you want so more recommendations for seasons, tournament of elements and posession are really great, however the Oni Trilogy is very dark and well written. Thanks for making a good video on my favourite show. You’re awesome.
It's so bizarre how far it's come. I remember seeing the toys in stores and wanting them SO SO badly and watching the countdown on Cartoon Network for the first episode ever to release. Ninjago has been a definite part of my childhood I cannot deny. I was obsessed with it until around the seasons that followed the movie when the style changed, that's when I lost interest. I would not lie when I say, I would 10/10 watch the first few seasons again, they're so lovely and I miss them so much. I still want some of the older sets that I missed out on getting because I was literally just a kid back then who had no money so yeah :') I love it to bits despite the lack of watching it anymore.
I've loved the show since I started watching with my brothers. The show hasn't always been perfect, but I always find something to love about each character and season!
Ninjago holds such a special place in my heart! i have so many fond memories of watching the show with my little brother and building all of the Lego sets… Kai was my fave of the ninjas and Jay was my brothers fave 🥰 we would get SO hyped whenever the opening theme would start,,, to this day it’s still a fricken BANGER ✨
Thank you so much for making this video! I love ninjago so much, as a Neurodivergent this show was such a big part of my childhood. I think you did a grand job of covering the first seasons. Can’t wait to see The a Elemental Tournament, and Possession!!❤
The Oni Trilogy (Seasons 8,9 and 10), is by far the best part of the show. Great character development, great use of old teachings, and the new designs and art style really give the show a new tone and each ninja a uniqueness that was a missing in their old designs. Lloyd also gets to do the growing up he never could in this saga.
What I didn’t really like was that after the Lego Ninjago Movie they went and changed the character designs for the show. I see the appeal but it was a little strange to notice the difference.
I used to love this show. I watched the first two seasons and thought it stopped but then one day heard the theme song on tv. Then I realized that this show NEVER ENDED! I’ve tried getting back into it but 15 season is kind of daunting. Even if it is 10 episodes per season.
22:48 “the lord of darkness is my roommate” feels like a story about college students who meet the villain of someone else’s story but from their point of view the hero is a jerk and they basically become free therapy for the villain guy I need this in my life
Okay but no joke, Lloyd being the green ninja was the biggest plot twist as a kid (though not even NEARLY as much of a plot twist of Zane being a robot).
That was a totally A-W-E-S-O-M-E video! Thank you so, so much for making it and i'm so glad you liked ninjago and you are intrested in it! I promise you it only gets better from the fourth season onwards, it's a wild ride! You are going to have so much fun watching it! Can't wait to see your reaction to the other seasons!
I started watching Ninjago in 2015, when I was like 12, while tournament of the elements (S4) was airing in my country and I literally never grew out of the show lol. It holds a special place in my heart. It may not be perfect, but it's still really good. At least for me it's in S4 when the show starts to get better, and the oni trilogy (S8-S10) is probably the best arc of the show. But master of the mountain (S13) and seabound (S14) are some of my favorite seasons. We don't talk about Crystalized (S15) though. 💀
Man I remember watching ninjago as a kid and I was so invested. I binged the first maybe 5 seasons at least 4 times. Though I was never able to tell anybody about it given It was the 2010's and I was a girl and non of my friends liked that sort of stuff. I'm so happy to see people talking about it and loving it online. And I'll always continue to observe and enjoy it, even if i can't publicly show my liking for it
Ninjago has a place in my heart. Every 2 years I get blasted with a wave of Ninjago in my UA-cam recommended and I immediately start getting back in the fandom :D I have not watched all of the seasons in order 😅😅😅 However I love this fandom MORE NINJAGO. NOW.
I remember being younger watching the first few Seasons of Ninjago with my brother and watching the final battle in Season 2 on cable back when that was still relevant. Times were a lot simpler back then.
Back when it first came out I was SO obsessed with it. Nya being my favorite character. I lost interest after season 2 so when I found out Nya became a ninja I was pleasantly surprised and had to buy a set to get her :)
You should totally go back and watch at least up to season five (when Nya becomes a ninja) Season three is pretty hit or miss for people unfortunately, but four and five are great and are more than worth watching season three for imo
I grew up on Ninjago and have a hyperfixation on it (thanks ADHD) it was my comfort show for when I had bad days and when alone. This show is really good and I love this series. My favorite season has to be Tournament of Elements and Seabound! My favorite characters are Zane and Kai!
So, just some clarifyication about the tornado of creation and the "Ability to create something out of nothing power": It's not actually creating something out of nothing. If you've seen the very first Lego Movie, this is essentially the very early first instances of Masterbuilding. AKA, they take random stuff from their immediate environment (Various Lego Bricks) and then turn them into literally whatever they want. As in the Lego movie; not following any instructions and just "Creating" as they need. You can see this when they defeat the skeletons and when they build their truck with speakers to defeat the Great Devourer. The ferris wheel is made of bones because they're surrounded by bones. The truck is made of spare parts from Jay's parent's junk yard
"I understand that the weapons are magical and that's where they gain their power from, but gold is a terrible material" As a kid from the classic Minecraft generation, that's exactly what I thought when first watching this.
If you’re gonna watch the entirety of Ninjago, I really suggest reading the “blind man’s eye” it’s a semi Cannon story written by tommy anderson it’s Set between 'March of the Oni' and 'Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu', and I highly suggest it
I think they were comparing people on the spectrum to robots at one point, but I feel like Zane has outgrown that to a degree. He still appears to be on the spectrum, however. Time and again through the show they show him to be an actual person, and it becomes less of comparing people on the spectrum to robots, and more using how people treat him as a robot as a metaphor for how people on the spectrum are or should be treated.
"Ninjago : Masters of Spinjitzu" Had been my favorite show growing up and will always be my comfort show. I still go back , as a 17-18 year old , to watch it.
Ninjago is my childhood. I haven't watched the most recent seasons, but it definitely holds a special place in my heart. Cole and Zane are my favorite ninjas.
I have probably re-watched Ninjago at least once every year since 2018. It was my childhood and still is, the show holds such a special place in my heart that I just can't let it go. I love it :D.
I still love the show, I love the movie, and I love the world building. I just have a problem with how they leave some questions unanswered. Like what is Harumi’s relationship with Lloyd now that she’s “good” and having Garmadon say that she’s the daughter he never had. Not to mention how no one ever thought that Wu could’ve raised Lloyd if Misako had just given him to Wu! So he wouldn’t have to be bullied in the boarding school!
I just realized why Lloyd’s middle name seems to “change”, Montgomery is his middle name, and what Mother Doomsday calls him could be a nickname or something, like a Jim “Crocodile” Cook situation
Zane was always the best character because the rest of the male cast were just different flavors of the same jerk. Like Kai is the angry jerk, Jay is the pretentious jerk, and Cole is the forgettable jerk. Zane was the only of the original ninja cast that was responsible, never blamed anyone, and had nice things to say. Also his arc was the best and he always ends up as the most interesting even if the show kept trying to kill him off, because let's be honest if it was cole that died, none of us would actually care
Fun fact, I remember a very long time ago while Ninjago was airing and when I had cable, I watched the episode that had the grundle in it before it aired on tv.
Watch the rest of the show. The next few seasons will show you how good this show gets! And seasons 8-10 will actually surprise you with how serious this show can get
I think both had their reasons to left Lloyd but I think Misako should have given Lloyd to Wu rather than sending him in a school where he was mistreated and she don't do that much in later seasons while Garmadon stay a great character so...
One thing i love the most about ninjago is when you get to the last season, you realize that every single background character has agency and has canon lives outside of what we see following just the ninja. Especially with the paper kids who commonly have to keep delivering throughout all the massive combat in ninjago. And in the end they all get together to help the ninja win. I just think it's a really great detail to show that everybody in a story matters, not just the chosen main characters.
I actually wouldn’t mind seeing you check out more Lego themes! I personally recommend Monkie Kid! I think it’d be a joy for you to check out! So much fun, great animation, amazing characters and character building!
i think the reason they don't use the tornado of creation very often is because they need materials in the surrounding area for it to work. at least that's just my theory, based on how the tornado sucks in the required materials and at least in season 1 we've only seen them use it at the junkyard jay grew up in where there are plenty of materials to make stuff with using the tornado of creation.
Zane is legit the coolest character of the show, imo, pun fully intended. In season 3 he became my favorite ninja and has stayed my favorite ever since, even now retroactively during the first 2 seasons.
Ninjago was something my siblings and I watched the HECK out of as kids. I still love LEGO cartoons even though I don’t watch it anymore. Monkie Kid is REALLY good.
Holy crap, this show was my childhood. Kai literally broke my gender. Also, the robot twist blew six year old me's mind. Fair warning, season 3 isn't that good, but seasons 4 and 5 are great and though 6 is kind of decisive, it has its merits.
This video has been on my watch later list for a while but it’s always nice to see people who haven’t had an over ten year long special interest in the show (like myself) watch it.
The thing about Ninjago, is the later seasons are actually BETTER than the first seasons (at least from a storytelling and presentation standpoint). It has hits and misses here and there, but a lot of the seasons are GREAT standalone stories!
When you said “Quick! Get Crush 40!”, that was so hilarious to me! Your videos are the best and the humor is peek! “Hey didn’t they used to have dragons?” “Oh yeah.” LOL
Great video! I’ve loved watching Lego Ninjago and I’ve only seen the first 5 seasons. I’ve strayed from trying to watch the last ten because I’m afraid of how many changes there may have been. Especially after the movie release and all the character design changes. But I think I’ll keep watching to see what happens
when i was younger i had watched up to s7, but grew out of it after the movie released because i wasnt a fan of the new designs and whatnot. coming back now though, i actually like them alot more! it definitely took some getting used to, and the old designs will always have a place in my heart, but i do honestly prefer the news ones alot more. they just seem more appealing to me lol [also im glad they changed up kais hair because i love him but oh my god what was his hair even doing in s1-7 lol] but the animation and story also gets alot cooler imo, even through the ups and downs[COUGH crystallized COUGH]. s14/seabound is my absolute FAVOURITE season, i love it soo much lol i hope you have as much fun with the newer seasons as i did !!
I really hope you get to the Oni Trilogy (season 8-10) They’re on a whole other level, the story is great, the animation improved and it’s just so GOOD😍😍 Well, season 8 and 9 are good, season 10 is just alright😆

This show is actually really good. There's ups, downs, but it's still enjoyable after a decade.
No Same. Kai will always be my favorite character. Great Show and I love it.
3-6 is honestly way better than the older seasons imo
I mean, a channel that talks about all of the cool kids shows would probably be the last person to dismiss a show as just "a dumb kids show", but yeah it's cool
I agree. In fact, even though the show would often center around all of the main characters, I always considered Kai to be the main protagonist, even though Lloyd is the true hero. I mean, it started with Kai, the Ninjago theme marketing always have a red color scheme indicating that it's about Kai, and that it did center around him in the show 3 times.
same but as a kid I hated that his unlocked ability was ass
Kai's true potential was him realizing he didn't need to be the most important and he didn't need to be the one saving the day. Not just valuing human life
Ninjago is so underrated, I'm glad it's been getting more attention latley
Wouldn't say underrated

'The price of Legos made kids anti-capitalist but consumerism is good for the soul' is the funniest line taken out of context.
IKR? It's pretty funny in context to.
I vividly still remember this, it was such a fun thing to theorize and wonder. I was very convinced it was going to be Kai 😂
Same here. Big talk around my family and elementary school friends. Bombshell of the decade for kids.
Same, Tournament Of Elements is my all time favorite season and Chen is my favorite villain. He's so funny and quirky.
"Buttons Buttons BUTTONS!"
- Chen, Day of the Departed Special

What about the chosen one stuff?
@@anonymouslucario285 I that comes up more too
As a kid with autism I related to Zane because he was misunderstood by everyone else and thought differently and I saw myself in that
As an adult with autism I relate more to Jay and his inability to read the tone of a room, as well as his silly hyperfixation on that one comic series he loves so much. I project into him a lot
I wouldn’t say that Zane was intended to be an autistic character, and I definitely wouldn’t say that him being a robot was meant to dehumanize him or anything through that interpretation (other robots like Pixal and Cryptor are more neurotypical for example, and Zane is VERY human), but he could be both without one affecting the other.
Jay is my Favorite ninja too. I’ve always seen myself in him too, but now as an adult I can see Myself in Kai and Lloyd too.
The surprise in people’s face every time I tell them the series is still around and it’s on 17th season. 😂

Ninjago has honestly changed my life. The Ninja were the first ever humans I drew back in 2011. As a kid Ninjago taught me that ninja never quit and now all of these years later I am able to make money off of my art. Ninjago is so underrated compared to other shows but it's still my favorite show of all time

The generally accepted reason for why lloyd got aged up is because of the lego figures - kid lloyds minifigure had small legs, meaning they didnt bend like normal size lego legs do (nowadays there's also a middle size for legs which are shorter than normal and bend, but theyre still longer than small legs, but they didnt exist back then) so in order for lloyd to fit on spinners and sets with places for legos to sit in, they had to give him normal legs and decided to explain that by aging him up. also it maybe because it would be weird for a kid to have to seemingly fight his father to death, but its probably mostly the legs
as for why the first few episodes of season 2 are so different from the rest of the season and why the Mega Weapon arc ended so weirdly - the writers didnt know who the villain of the season was gonna be at the time but had to start writing the episodes so they decided to do fun fillers with a bunch of movie references
I'm surprised to see it's still going.
same here, i watched until season 11, literally want to start further since season 15 is last and is epic but can't find it anywhere

Highly recommend.
seconded! monkie kid is sooo good i love that show sm
I've been on the fence with Monkey Kid. I always thought it was a crime to have LEGO SERIES be 2D animated. But I was won over with just one quote from the show. "Why a little water never hurt anybo- oooohhhh yeeeaaaahhhh mortality."
Plus, I've been watching a few Chinese movies that take the original Chinsese mythos and put a spin on them.
VOUCH
The thing i remembered the most was just how weirded out i was by them aging up Lloyd because it makes basically any future relationship with him pretty weird especially the romantic ones
(Sorry this is so long, I loved the video and can't wait to see more)
As someone who has been watching Ninjago since it started, I have to let you know: You CAN NOT skip any season of this show.
A few more things:
- The Mega Weapon Thing is one of, if not the biggest plot holes in the series, and at this point it's been so many years since it happened that like. don't even worry about in fact don't talk about it im tired of this debate just forget it the series did
- Seasons 4/5 are probably the best seasons to really get what Ninjago is like, and are widely beloved, so are s8/9
- The timeline of this show is crazy, it took 7 years to make the first 7 seasons, 2011-2018, and then from 2018-2023 they made 8 seasons.
Honestly. the movie kinda reads like. they asked someone off the street to tell them about ninjago and the poor soul hadn't seen past half way thru s2, so they did their best trying to describe what they remember, but ultimately, they didnt even remember the snakes (💀)
BUT because of it they were going to be changing the show to be more like the movie, which quite frankly, seemed rude to change a 7 year old show because of the whims of a movie who couldn't even be bothered to make the ninja real friends.
I even collect the sets and mini figures which are super cool 😊
If you want so more recommendations for seasons, tournament of elements and posession are really great, however the Oni Trilogy is very dark and well written.
I still want some of the older sets that I missed out on getting because I was literally just a kid back then who had no money so yeah :')
I love it to bits despite the lack of watching it anymore.
I've loved the show since I started watching with my brothers. The show hasn't always been perfect, but I always find something to love about each character and season!

At least for me it's in S4 when the show starts to get better, and the oni trilogy (S8-S10) is probably the best arc of the show. But master of the mountain (S13) and seabound (S14) are some of my favorite seasons.

So, just some clarifyication about the tornado of creation and the "Ability to create something out of nothing power":
It's not actually creating something out of nothing.
I’ve been a Lego ninjago fan girl for years so I’m so glad new people are discovering it 🥰

I always take it as lloyd doesnt age until he actually reaches the age he was transformeed into...
I was way more into Lego Chima as a kid but Ninjago is great, such nice fans, great fanart and more
Ninjago is my childhood.
To be fair for a young kid the foreshadowing and reveal that lloyd was the green ninja was epic....
I just realized why Lloyd’s middle name seems to “change”,
Montgomery is his middle name,
and what Mother Doomsday calls him could be a nickname or something,
like a Jim “Crocodile” Cook situation
And seasons 8-10 will actually surprise you with how serious this show can get
Thanks for opening up a time capsule from my childhood I have not thought of ninjago in years
I find it funny NL thinks Garmadon is a bad dad and Misako is alright, even though the fanbase loves Garmadon and treats Misako is the spawn of Satan
Pretty baffling to think how long this show has been running.
Zane is legit the coolest character of the show, imo, pun fully intended. In season 3 he became my favorite ninja and has stayed my favorite ever since, even now retroactively during the first 2 seasons.
Kind of fitting for dragons rising and this very cool UA-camr to discuss it.
Ninjago was something my siblings and I watched the HECK out of as kids. I still love LEGO cartoons even though I don’t watch it anymore. Monkie Kid is REALLY good.
There is also lego Monkie Kid. it's really good
PLEASE continue cuz the rest of the seasons answers so many of your quiestions
Holy crap, this show was my childhood. Kai literally broke my gender.
Also, the robot twist blew six year old me's mind.
Fair warning, season 3 isn't that good, but seasons 4 and 5 are great and though 6 is kind of decisive, it has its merits.
This video has been on my watch later list for a while but it’s always nice to see people who haven’t had an over ten year long special interest in the show (like myself) watch it.
This and mlp were my favorite kids shows.
Also if you are still a fan WHOS EXCITED FOR DRAGONS RISING!
The thing about Ninjago, is the later seasons are actually BETTER than the first seasons (at least from a storytelling and presentation standpoint). It has hits and misses here and there, but a lot of the seasons are GREAT standalone stories!
Love it please do more seasons it gets better and weirder also wu's past gives ninjago the majority of it's villains
When you said “Quick! Get Crush 40!”, that was so hilarious to me!
Your videos are the best and the humor is peek!
“Hey didn’t they used to have dragons?”
“Oh yeah.” LOL
Great video! I’ve loved watching Lego Ninjago and I’ve only seen the first 5 seasons. I’ve strayed from trying to watch the last ten because I’m afraid of how many changes there may have been. Especially after the movie release and all the character design changes. But I think I’ll keep watching to see what happens
when i was younger i had watched up to s7, but grew out of it after the movie released because i wasnt a fan of the new designs and whatnot. coming back now though, i actually like them alot more! it definitely took some getting used to, and the old designs will always have a place in my heart, but i do honestly prefer the news ones alot more. they just seem more appealing to me lol [also im glad they changed up kais hair because i love him but oh my god what was his hair even doing in s1-7 lol]
but the animation and story also gets alot cooler imo, even through the ups and downs[COUGH crystallized COUGH]. s14/seabound is my absolute FAVOURITE season, i love it soo much lol
i hope you have as much fun with the newer seasons as i did !!
PLEASE DO THE REST OF NINJAGO. ITS A PASION SHOW FOR ME AND I LOVE YOUR REACTION
I really hope you get to the Oni Trilogy (season 8-10)
They’re on a whole other level, the story is great, the animation improved and it’s just so GOOD😍😍
Well, season 8 and 9 are good, season 10 is just alright😆
Season 14 and 15 were kinda my favorites. Mainly because of the love interests and new powers
