4:52 😂 I used to put my girlfriend's seat belt on her. Yes, context - how you go about it is important. She would forget to put it on sometimes so then after I would open the car door for her, I started putting on her seat belt too. All in a joking way.

Personally, I ask someone out for a coffee vibe-check first. We figure out if we "click" with light conversation about work, goals, etc., then plan for dinner and a movie if we want to move forward. Low-key and chill. As far as the seatbelt move, that's too risky for us guys. No way I'm gonna invade someone's personal space when we just met even if it's for safety, lol! I also do what Anna says and sit next to someone (I ask first, of course) and not across from them. I find that it helps us relax a bit and if we touch shoulders when we laugh, that's a good sign!

I'm 5'2". I only ever met one guy who was shorter than I am, but he was Italian. I think Italians are a little shorter on average than Americans. Height doesn't matter much 'though. Also, I might be from a more conservative place in the US (and I am demisexual) but I would be creeped out by a guy touching me constantly on a first date. I think it's an unspoken rule that the guy must wait for the girl to touch him first!! Typically you show him you are interested in having a 2nd date by just a light touch on his arm or something over dinner or coffee. A short coffee date on the first date is best, so you don't commit to spending the whole evening before you know if you have any chemistry at all. But we're more sensitive about personal space than other cultures too.

Does it? I can’t say that I’ve particularly noticed that to be the case
telling people that they need to practice eye contact when they`re not comfortable with it is ableist.
It’s advice for connecting with people. Unless you are blind or have any type of physical disability that doesn’t allow you to do eye contact, that advice is for those who have the ability but have a personal problem with doing it. It will be hard for someone to connect with a person who is ABLE to do eye contact but chooses not to because it makes them uncomfortable. People will perceive it as someone trying to avoid connection. That’s fine in the real world but in the dating world it’s all about connecting anyway possible and it will seem like you don’t want to connect with them if you never try to look at them in the eyes. At least try. Or don’t but you can’t get upset if someone sees that as you not wanting to connect with them.
