Next season before put glue down for kamars use a horse comb 1st to remove any looses hair improves the stick. Mite be abit different as yaz are what we class as winter milk so shagger coat and we tend to be summer milk so heifers are moulting winter coat. The year I was managing a dairy unit also put a dot of tail paint each end to rule out false readings from the kamar being knocked. 98% in calve rate that season from heifers. Owner was stoked about it and with the lil bit of extra handling they were quiet in the shed after calving as well which made everything so much easier during 1 of the wettest calvings had for year's when pasture based/ out door calving
We will tail paint the cows when we serve them. That’s an awesome preg rate! I love how all dairy farmers produce milk but we all have slightly different ways of doing things 😂
@@JMFarming we tail paint production girls about 8wks before a.i to figure out cycle rates. Trying to get to 6wk calving period. Unfortunately some of the seman suppliers haven't quiet lived up to it. But we are improving every season. I'm not full on dairy anymore but do miss it alot when with right team/farm. Last full time gig was only ment to be herd manager but after a month the owner and manager at time gave me almost full rein on the dairy platform and r2 herd. 600 cows, 150 r2 heifers, 20 bulls to cover tail end and beef heifers, 320hec fully self contained farm over 4 blocks. Nothing like jumping in deep end. Made a killing raising some calves that would of been Bobby's thou, grazing properly with fert & slurrey and using crop properly as grew up as a arable/ beef farmer so knew how to use crop available as silage & grazing for young stock
Interesting video Josh and was a learning day for me, as I have never seen this system before. Regarding your being caught sleeping by Abi, as my father would say to my mother when he was caught, "I were only resting my eyes" 😂.
Well he’s only 3 at the moment but I reckon if he saves all his pocket money from now until when the times comes he’ll be ok! But on a serious note there’ll have to be some careful planning involved I imagine
Awesome video Josh when you're serving the heffers for dairy do you use sexed seamen to have heffer calves I have a neighbour thats doing it a couple of years he picks out the best of the heffers that came from his top yielding cows Really enjoyed the video as always looking forward to the next one
Interesting video there seems to be new methods for insemination of dairy cows every year poor Richard has enough glue on his fingers and boiler suit to do another one or two😂
What a lovely sight watching the heifers walking down evokes memories when I was in farming it never loses you

Hi Josh, im involved in a pilot johnes programme here in Ireland. Why go beef on the johnes history cows/heifers as opposed to culling???
Good video again nice one 👍
Thanks Paul!

Good update, busy day!
Q how will ur boss son tack over the farm in the future if the inheritance tax stays? Could he afford this high tax bill?

Why don't ye put down a bit of straw on that concrete floor would b alot safer for both beast and human !!
Make it a pain to clean. The floor is grooved, washed after every use
