The San Juan continues to deliver. As long as the monsoonal flow keeps pumping, I will be continuing to explore some of the classics between Silverton and Durango. Molas Pass is segment 25 of the Colorado Trail and offers up some of the best alpine riding and wildflower viewing, surrounded by alpine lakes, that one could ever hope for. As I see it, this is mountain biking. This is what motivates me to ride. As per usual, this is the first time Chris Boice has ridden and of these trails wrapping around Engineer Mountain. Chris used to race DH bikes for a living, now he builds vans. If you ride bikes and are in the market for a luxury house on wheels, Boice is your guy. He builds vans as well as he rides bicycles.
This was ridden on my Yeti SB130lr. The perfect alpine explorer in my opinion. - Спорт
Where will the weekend take you? The San Juan is delivering.
angel fire bike park
On this one are you climbing the same way you went down?
What day did you film this? It's been raining so much around here that most stuff is too wet and mushy to really enjoy. Good vid as always from you!
Taking me to my couch. I had a friday flail, bounced down some rocks. Lolololol
A place that feels like a swamp in Tennessee, that elevation would be nice about now.
Love everything about this Pass, 😊
Purchased my first mountain bike a couple weeks ago. It's unbelievable how much fun I've been having lately - I'm like a kid with his new toy. Thank you for your awesome videos!
Enjoy the ride!
as much as i love watching these late friday nights (midnights) when they come out, i now discovered they're perfect with my saturday morning coffee! ☕😁🤙
Perfect combo.
Apologies, I wasn't here for the premier because I was at an appointment but my lunch was filled with an awesome ride once again. Thank you Mr Hills!
That place was so nice💕💞
Love from india (Kerala)
Sandi & I stayed in Durango for 6 weeks in 2020, and the Colorado Trail definitely delivers. I think we hiked the trail you rode. Lot of good trails nearby and great views, we would have gone back this spring because we liked it so much, but our landlord got greedy on rent. Unfortunately. regards, Dan
Inflation is hard for everyone. Hope you can make it back someday.
@@natehills9388 Yeah, you're right there. I sure hope to get back there sometime soon. It's a great place for hikes and MTB rides. regards, Dan
wonderfull landscapes, pure breed allmountain !!!
Engineer looks amazing! Perfect day. Great vid!
I'm doing this exact ride this week. So dope to see a preview of what I'm in for!
Have fun!
Such incredible scenery!!
Another great video Nate. Sure do love the scenic views that the Colorado mountains offer.
Excellent FREERIDAY
Thanks Nate, sweet you guys.
Amazing scenery!
So Good
Ahh man that’s epic even have water for the trail dingle berries
This trail looks awesome. 🤙🏼
The riding around Durango is pretty awesome. A few years ago, I rode one of the sections of the Colorado Trail a little ways down from where you were in this vid (we parked on the Hermosa Park road and then rode up to the pass and caught the Trail back down to our car). It was an amazing ride. The scenery was awe inspiring and the scree fields on the sides of those ancient volcanoes are a wonder to behold up close.
Inspiring scenery indeed!
When I lived in Durango awhile ago, we did the Molas trail afterwork at the Purg one day. At the high point we found a huge boulder that was covered in fossils, like it was from the bottom of the ocean. It got dark on us soon after & we had to walk the downhill back to Coal bank pass with a failing headlamp. We finally would hike in the dark & occasionally flicking the Bic to see if we were still on the trail. We could hear bears climbing up trees all around us. So, never let your roommate talk you into riding a high alpine trail afterwork for the first time.
I want some of what you have.
Great meeting you at the Gathering, amigo! And stoked you did the CT25/EMT. If that doesn’t get one stoked on our Durango high country, I don’t know what will. ✌️
Cheers Rich, you as well! Surreal riding up here in the high-country!
Wish we had that in socal beautiful trails in colorado 🤙🏾
Nate, Enjoyed the CO rocky trails this weekend while here in Bangkok. Have fun @ the falls! Blue skies, Jg
Great video Dude😎😎
Monument flowers are going OFF right now!
Rare occurrence. Someone told me that the height of the monument is indicative of next year's snowpack.
@@natehills9388 Let's hope so!
That's some gorgeous country right there! My kind of riding. Heading that way tomorrow, can't wait to get out of this 100 degree heat and back into the mountains!
Have fun!
Colorado deliciousnessssss Nommmmmmmm
Get it down yer neck.
God dammit i wanna be on beautiful trails like this too!
Good content this
Thanks many
Great ride. This one really takes me back to my first trip to the San Juans. CO Trail to Junction Creek, Dry Fork, Hoffhein's, Hermosa Creek, and maybe throw in some high desert with Telegraph. An embarrassment of riches.
Embarrassment of riches indeed.
@@natehills9388 Yeah, and that is just around Durango. There is so much more. Had to edit first post....Junction Creek, not Grand Junction. Big difference.
I did Molas going the other way at the beginning of the month for a backpacking trip. We also went one direction towards Durango. Absolutely stunning. Were all those goats still by the twin lakes about 6 miles in?
The goats are still up there. So many goats!
Another great video. Is there a place where you have shared your video settings?
I shoot everything in 4K 30
Did that ride when I was out there on vacation. It's one of the top rides I have ever done.
Any issues with the sheep dogs?
We weren't close enough to the sheep to have any issues. I have heard stories.
were u riding on co trail nearish to bailey? i think i saw u
Beautiful. Where did you start riding from?
I would like to know as well my weekend is coming up
Top of Molas
@@natehills9388 You drove to top.? Is there a dirt road all the way up to top of Molas? It looks like it's 2,310' climb to top.
So did you guys cut over to Enginnee on the Twisted Sister section of the CT???
I don't know what Twisted Sister is.
@@natehills9388 is what Trail Forks calls the section of Colorado Trail that’s East of Engineer Mountain. 🤷🏼♂️😂
Was Chris swimming in bib shorts?
He was. My eyes thank Chris for making the right decision.
where would you say it the longest sidehill/downhill flow you have ever ridden in Colorado?
I think Pikes Peak is probably the largest vertical drop in the state.
I guess we’ll be expecting gypsy jazz backing tracks from now …
Have you or will you talk about the absence of stickers on your handlebar?
Great edit!
Not much of a story to tell. I just forgot them.
Nate, the only thing that could make your videos better is if you switched to a silent hub like an Onyx or Box. The angry bees freewheel noise is a bit distracting. Would love to just hear the wilderness and some tire noise instead. Regardless, keep up the good work!
Pretty sure I make the least amount of noise of all the UA-camrz. lol
