I found the channel while scrolling through for 80's northern lads.
I never actually knew Lee, but I knew who he was back in the day, saw him around the clubs or rather you along with the other key players would be pointed out to me as an outsider.
I had ability and attitude, it was my "job" so my elders made sure I knew who not to face of with, unless told to.
Used to travel from Cumbria to collect goods and would usually meet up with a Noonan contact at the car auctions as it was easy to explain carrying £5-10k in cash.
You had a solid rep back then Lee, good to see your still as solid now.
I left the life, joined the military and got blown up in Iraq for my troubles!
    Stay safe
    Charlie 🇬🇧

What a great way to spend an hour tonight...thanks guys I really enjoyed listening to your conversation. Glad to see you unbuckled this time Sam, and nice to know you're listening 😆😂😆. Back at you Marvin, the more I listen to you the more I appreciate your candour. Great (as in profound) experiences, although they may not have looked that way at the time, have allowed you to view the world through a rare lens. I laughed out loud when you talked about the fireplace...good job you were able to fix it with that "paste shit"....brilliant mate!!! I get where you're coming from re racism. I think the word, like so many others is over used and in many ways has been highjacked by certain groups with certain agendas. By nature humans are tribal, and tribes can cross all manner of obvious boundaries like colour. Football fans, political parties, churches, etc....it's always the same, 'them' and 'us'. Screws/inmates, bosses/workers, men/women, black/white.....people chose to be tribal because (by and large) they're not brave enough to be themselves. But that's exactly what I see in you mate...someone brave enough to be them self, and that's very rare Marvin...very rare indeed. All the best to you both and your families. Okay, got to go, I think I just saw a cop car drive past our house...😎👍

You've done wonders with you life in recent years, you've got a great partner, a great child, and a great way of looking at the world these days too. I'm not trying to be a smart-arse, but your good nature/heart is clear to see in your insightful and considered opinions as well as your natural enthusiasm. So, like I said, nothing but respect. ✌️😎

need more of this kind of thing on the airwaves!! got allot respect for lee and you man what you lads are doing is well not sure how to put it but good for the society! it will help keep allot people from making terrible mistakes and helps shine a light on many things that need fixing... .....having said that i do not agree with private prisons at least if they get anything like the American system it ends up as slave labour camps for profit..........Again tho well done lads keep up the good fight I wish I had seen guys like you when i was a young teen

Some of the conversations I had with prison officers were better than some of the lads, just normal people doing a job. I grew up in the same village, and went to school with a SO, and he was a proper sound lad, I used to go to prison and knew quite a few screws who lived near me, decent lads, had some proper laughs with some of them. Always got perks! Just how it works. Prison politics... it's mad! Listening to these really takes me back. 👌

I was in a secure hospital dealing with my "mid life crisis" and a younger patient landed and he was a mate of one of the mates I had made in there. Seems like he was a dealer who had come in for a jolly s to have a nice room with carpet and ensure shower and set himself up as a dealer. So although I never went near his room or his crowd I knew they were all in there sucking pipes (the state if them) but sooner or later he got tumbled and spun. But one of his mates swallowed his stash so he didn't get nicked. And they were all discharged but I was trying to talk to the guy who swallowed the stash before he got kicked out aswell 😆
Never touched the stuff myself but I do smoke a bit but I wouldn't want to smoke in a place like that put as it goes a couple of guys did offer me a pull but they blew me up to the consultant and yes I do remember who you are (were).

Not proud by any means but I fully get the term you used "holiday camp"
      To true mate!
The vast majority of people who watched the podcast or who are reading these comments will not possibly have the slightest idea of what being locked behind your door every single night year after year after year feels like and what affect it can have on a man, only those that have experienced it know,im not taking about those who come in for 3/4 months then bk out for a few then bk in for a few and after years of doing it give it the"done pure years behind the door me"bullshit!!!
33 years between me and my 2 co-defendants,so listening to what you were saying regarding what dramas a bent screw brings and other things brings back many memories.
We had one on our wing in dovegate,he would openly tell us he worked as a manager at tesco's before starting as a screw.
Soon as he came on our wing and without a doubt we knew he was for the picking
He'd only been out of training a few weeks and before he knew It, it was game over for him the poor lad.
The amount of phones and drugs and steds on our wing was insane,as you full well know all good things come to an abrupt end and usually as quick as it starts its stopped and the lad did the same as listening to what the screw sam was mentioning had to do..he just fucked off shift on the Friday and nothing was heard from him again and that's the only way they can get out of it before they themselves end up behind bars.
Life for me now is a massive struggle daily but I get up 4am, ready for work a 6 and home late tea time and that's repeated 6/7 days a week,I could as alot of people can turn the other way and go dwn the other route of making a living but fraising the term you used"been there and done that" I certainly have Lee but never will I again as I'll never be the same person as I used to be and serving a long one has taught me a valuable lesson in life.. it wasnt the fact that any of the jails were particularly hard or anything it was the loss of my liberty, not bein and able to see a loved one, family member or your best mate anytime you feel like it,or something as simple as nipping to the shop really makes it hit home that prison is a mugs game,
Anyways hope lifes good for ya mate coz no doubt you have struggles daily aswell.all the best to ya

@@leemarvinhitchmanciaratell3450 thanks mate, landing at dovegate was pure luck if I'm honest,I had been allocated to Garth but they were full by the time it was my turn to be shipped out so can you imagine how quickly I said yes please when I was asked if I wanted to go to dovegate that very same day👌
Mate my brother who's sadly passed now always used to bang on to me about writing a book about my life,.from joining the army at 16/9 months, being medically discharged at 20 and being just tossed to the side by the M.O.D (no thankyou, just a fuck you)
Head completely wrecked losing everything I'd ever dreamed of being and through no fault of my own but through medical negligence my them,
Bouncing around from one job to another then getting involved with my older cousin and his pals!
Was my start to a very long and even now years later a very full on emotional, violent and at times comical eye opening experience that I never dreamed of happening, but as I used to say to him, theres up teen amounts of lads with a story to tell as to which there is that.im just glad theres people like Mr Samworth and those alike that are out there given lads the opportunity to share with others what they've been through and for letting us show that some of us can get out and not just end up back inside like the narrative says we do.
All the best to you to big man x

With the racism topic. I feel like certain people have misconceptions which leads to people subconsciously behaving in a way that can be perceived as Discriminative towards people of a certain ethnic background. I feel like more education is needed around this to highlight the difference between racism, discrimination and prejudice so that these misconceptions can be seen in a more positive manner rather than people being unintentionally ignorant
