    Thanks for the internal installation instructions - the first I've found that talks you through how to set it up as there are no instructions in the box. Easy when you know how, but that's true of most things. Your time in doing this is appreciated

    Looks like a good product, does solve some problems. I've found the best way to clean the stations is with a shop vac. Traps work well if there are a few mice, but you can't beat real infestation with them.

    My personal observation: The bait station with the snapping killer traps is exponentially more effective vs just using the snapping traps alone! I've yet to use poison... possible in future?

    • @therabbithat

      poison means a slow painful death for an intelligent and social mammal. Also, any birds of prey in your area that eat rats might kill the rat while he is slow and dying of the poison, because it takes so long to kill them. This can kill the bird of prey (who may be endangered and who is actively keeping the rat population in your area down!) Poison only as a very last resort when there's no other choice!

      You've found that the mice go for the snap trap when it is enclosed in a base station more often than when the snap trap is exposed and alone? I've been considering placing snap traps in bait stations but due to cost and size of the bait station it means I can't have as many snap traps in play as just having exposed snap traps.

    My rat terrier loves grabbing up dead mice. I have to watch her like a hawk. My apartment complex had those put on each apartment building. They didn't give warning so if they wonder of and die and my dog grabs up one it could hurt her. We have neighbor cats also.

      Rodentcides kill more than unwanted rodents. It kills raptors, owls, eagles and more that survive on eating rodents also. There are alternatives. More and more cities are banning rodentcides, for a good reason.

      And sorry, no hack to opening the station once it is locked without destroying it. The rodent bait station is tamper-resistant and specifically designed to NOT open without a key. It's how we keep non-target animals and people safe :)

      Most poisons available in stores are weak and watered down. If the poison contains only 1% of the active ingredient, they are junk The poisons designed for pro and farm use will come in big packages and contain 5% active ingredient and will kill the rodent with one feeding. They are generally only available in farm or commercial type of stores and will say "for farm use" on them. Look at the % on the back.

    Is the purpose of this so only rats may access the food (poison) or so that they die in it as well?

    • @solutionspestandlawn
      @solutionspestandlawn  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, good question. The purpose of the bait station is to provide a dark, enclosed space for the rodents to feed on the bait. But they are also tamper-resistant, meaning they cannot be opened by children or pets. You must have a key to open. Most rat poisons are slow-acting, so rodents will typically feed in a bait station and then return to their nest.

      Hi, Jessica. The bait station is a tool to provide an enclosed safe space for mice and rats to eat any rodent poison that is housed in the station. So, yes, they will be able to freely come and go as they please. However, you can install a snap trap inside the station. They would enter the station and then get caught and killed in the snap trap.
