  • After some new rubber and a carburetor rebuild the old V-Star is back on the road and ready for cruising!
Just a few months ago my adopted uncle decided to adopt the Yamaha decker I had sitting around in my shop over the winter, and he was kind enough to bring it back and let me take it for a cruise for the first time! And it’s really good to see this thing up and running and being put to good use 😃
I got to test out his back rest and heal-toe shifter all while rocking the fabulous fringe leather jacket he so kindly loaned to me 🤩
And now I know that the crash bike definitely needs a back rest, and I definitely need some fringe to rock while I’m riding it 😝
I hope you all enjoy coming with me while I ride a decker for the first time!
And, anyone who want's to send me pictures of their bikes, you can email me at:
    redrider.canada.bc@gmail.com
    PLEASE SEND LARGE CLEAR PHOTOS!
1080p x 1080p is the MINIMUM we can work with, so please do your best at making sure your photos are large and not blurry 🙂 And send more than one if you can as well!
Only motorcycle related emails please - sorry, but I just don't have the time to engage in personal conversations.
    Thank you for your understanding.
If you DON'T want your bike highlighted in a future video showing viewers bikes then make sure to mention it in your email. Other than that, expect to see your bike in one of my videos!
If you would like my PO BOX address you can find it in the description to my channel by following this link:

I've seen those 1100's with well over 100,000 miles on them. Saw one at a swap meet with 168,000 miles on it. Great dependable bike! I ride an '06 Yamaha Stratoliner, it's a 113/1854. I'm on vacation until Monday. I took my bike up to Crater Lake in Oregon from Ukiah, California, just got back yesterday. About 1,100 miles. I'm at 41,000 miles on my bike now... Love my Yamaha!

I love that bike -I was sorry you sold it - reminded me of the bike in the Reengage series -
Please note: at 15:32 UTurn ( Pivot on Rear Brake by riding it against the torque delivered via riding the clutch in your turn against your throttle at 15:48. This is where you started duck walking I assume. Clutch stays in the friction zone. Never Closed, Never open. NO FRONT BRAKE. Rev your engine while riding your clutch, while dragging your rear brake. Bank her how you wish - The more you have torque the more the bike will want to straighten up. If you feel the turn is too tight and she is about to go down, Rev Engine while letting more torgue thru the clutch - She is like a Horse. she is yours to command ! ✌
Also - Please do not concern yourself with what others are thinking while operating a motorbike, or otherwise. The only judgement that should be is if one has scruples or not. You do - do they ? Further, next time, please make sure you have some stickers to hand out !
btw: Love that new photo on IG of yours -

I knew two guys who owned VStar 1100s. One bike had starter clutch issues which were fixed permanently. The bike started perfectly afterward. Another guy bitched about having to synch two carbs. I think the VStar 1100s offered solid reliability and performance. Yamaha should have kept The Raider in their production lineup. My brother owned one. He rode it across the USA twice -- no problems. Ride safe, Red Rider.

The first motorcycle that I rode was was an 86 Honda Hurricane 600 and I really don't know how I lived through my buddy having one and I had my own set of keys and if it was in the driveway without a note, I would get on that and scare myself shitless.

You do rock the fringe jacket too! Never had a motorcycle with a driver backrest. I wish I had one on my bike now. Anything to make the ride more comfortable for my old as dirt body, would be a total blessing! I could do floorboards and backrest on my Scout, but I'll have to think that over for awhile. I used to have a Yamaha v-star 650. I thought about moving to the 1100 v-star but ended up getting a good deal on a Honda VTX 1300. It also is a fantastic bike. Actually, all of the Japanese Cruisers are really good and really dependable bikes. They just don't have the cool heritage of the Harleys and Indians. My only complaint about the Japanese Cruisers is that they are mostly 5 speeds with one or two exceptions. I run mine at 75 to 80 mph all day long but it runs at just a little higher rpms than I would prefer. It's not real bad but I think a 6 speed would be a little better.

    • @RedRiderCanadaBC
      @RedRiderCanadaBC  Рік тому

@@jeffelliott3439 It's not backwards shifting. You still have your shifter as normal but, along with the shifter arm that you would use with the front of your foot, there is a shifter arm that comes off the back and you can press down with your heal. So instead of having just a normal toe shifter imagine having a seesaw as a shifter instead: pushing the back down with your heal makes the front (toe shifter) come up, thus shifting gears up... I think thats the best I can explain it haha, but you can probably find a youtube video that shows how it works if you still can't picture it. 🙂

owned a vx virago yamaha 1100 bike went all right didn't handle at all around corners and round abouts didn't like slight side winds at 60 mph sold it quick . Brought a FXD dyna 09 .....harley had that since new sold it early on this year Didn't impress me to much ....Now own a 2010 Honda gold wing ...nothing compares to wing...over 40 years of owning road bikes

Well, all's well that doesn't leak, I always say. Look'n good Red. Actually, you might also check into the half back-rest too. The half back-rest is on my Heritage Springer... comes up about half the height of the one on that V-Star. Its just enough for the lower back and tail-bone; plus, it gives the rider a feel of not slipping back on the saddle.

I won't take offense to the; " old manify" your bike comment. I've only kept a two-up seat on a bike for strapping down my backpack for long trips. Yes, on those days I enjoyed the backrest.
Great endorsement for the bike Angel.
YES you are Beautiful and Yes you look good in fringe even if it is on a black jacket. My tan winter riding coat has fringe. It's original purpose was to give rain and water a direction away from the wearer.
Three years before I got ran over I put my first windshield on my 65 Panhead. That first night pulling into a hotel I didn't just shower and crash. I had energy at the end of a nearly 900 mile day, windshields do work.
I can't wait to see your touring bike. I never and never will mount a phone on my bars, but I love my bottle holder.

I perfectly remember the time when hooligans beat people for such a jacket. Oh, it was a wonderful time, absolutely not tolerant, this time forced you to be strong and always be alert. I bought a rocker jacket in 2004 and it's still with me, I adore it, hundreds of cool stories are connected with it. Twice I disassembled the engine from a Chinese motorcycle on it. And how many times I went in it to football matches and showdowns after them. I love her
