    Hey, that's MY bike lol. Man am I excited! I can't say enough about these guys at Hammer Performance and how great the entire experience has been. Second to none in my book! They've earned my business for life, and they're practically in my back yard! Can't wait to ride that thing!!!!!!!! Thanks a million to the crew over there.

    What's your opinion on a screaming eagle heavy breather vs the screaming eagle ventilator air cleaner? Do you think one out performs the other, or do you think it depends on a build?

    What air cleaner do you guys use or recommend

      Hi Ron We use our Air Cleaners. Now, which one to use will depend on the performance level that you are shooting for out of the bike.

    What air cleaners have you guys seen perform best on a sportster build. Currently have 883 with big sucker filter.

    • @HAMMERPERFORMANCE
      @HAMMERPERFORMANCE  5 років тому +1

      Well, first off, while it's still an 883 it's not that critical. What we see in our testing is that at low power levels, it doesn't make a whole lot of difference what you use for an air cleaner. But every air cleaner has a horsepower level where you see it really start robbing power. So when you see these tests some companies put out, where their air cleaner performs beautifully on an 80hp bike for example, don't assume that air cleaner is a good choice for a 100hp build. It might choke off the motor before it gets there. Click this link for a classic example: www.hammerperf.com/images/hyperthingy.gif . That air cleaner is perfectly fine into the upper 80's. But above that, it starts robbing a lot of power.
      So which one to get? Well, we're not exactly unbiased on the subject. We long ago got frustrated with the lack of air cleaners that could effectively support big power levels, and we created our own line. You can read about them here: www.hammerperf.com/xlaircleaners.shtml#airhammerxl

      Thank you for the quick response. I aim for 120hp by the time its said and done. Hopefully getting a 1250 or 1275 this spring, depending on available funds. Also have you ever done a 6speed test with a sportster?

      I ride 90% interstate and dont have the funds for a bigger bike nor the desire really to have a larger (partly because I ride this thing like it's a sport bike half the time. I have LAF exhaust and it drags fairly often)

      @@tomcampbell8931 OK, well, keep in mind that the 1275 pistons for use with stock heads and cams are totally different than the pistons for use with the 120+ package. You'll find this same issue really with all the components. There's no way to do it gradually over time, everything is carefully designed to work with the other components of the package. You can read all about the 120+ package here: www.hammerperf.com/883conversions.shtml#120hp . Download the sample quote at that link for a list of all the components and what they cost.
      Yes, we've run the Baker XL6 in multiple bikes over the years, and we've dyno tested those bikes plenty. The XL6 doesn't really have any appreciable effect on the dyno results, at least not if you test in the same gear. 5th gear is 1:1 in both the stock 5-speed gearbox and the XL6. The XL6 just adds an overdrive 6th. They're only available for 91-03 models though.

      @@HAMMERPERFORMANCE that makes sense. Cam you use the flat tops for say 110-115hp?
      That's my main thing is not having that "over drive" riding it from Wisconsin to southern Oklahoma and back (about 2,200 miles). we did 80-85 the whole way and it was just screaming along lol. Other then that I love that bike. I figure if I big bore it change to better suspension And add another gear I wouldnt have any issues riding it long trips for a few years yet lol
