This song is such a peaceful ballad , I listened to Tyler everyday driving to Lexington KY taking my son to chemo at UK from Frankfort Ky , and when he was put in to the hospital after the leukemia had just about took over his body , I myself am a addict and I had to go dose in Frankfort were we was living at the time w/ my sister at my methadone clinic , that long hour drive was hard some days I listened to this and would think about the carefree life he should of been living at the age of 26 instead of living at a hospital having chemo , I prayed everyday that GOD would see fit for me to keep him here w/ me , but GOD had other plans , I listen to this now and I picture him laughing taking a swim with his love he didn’t get to meet while here n I pray to GOD above that he’s free from sickness and worry celebrating his heavenly birthday on April 17th with his nana n papaw , love u bub ❤

For what it's worth, I just prayed for you. God bless you and thank you for sharing your sons story. It's a story of final restoration and freedom from the pain. We'll never understand why some things happen, but somehow it is for God's glory... Somehow.

I can't tell you how you felt because it was your son but on my 17th birthday was supposed to be a great day well my mom gets a call from her brother around the 10th of November...My first cousin that was a few years younger than me and he loved to watch me play baseball pitching a game or I played a shortstop...I knew he had cancer but he was 14 teen and I never thought he could die...on my birthday which was the 20th of November I went to see my cousin and I walk in and I started crying immediately...he was in a special room that had others dying from different kinds of cancer...What I've seen I can't even attempt to explain but I also felt Love in the room...I walk to see my cousin and he had IV started in the bottom of his feet and in both arms as well but what I seen next I can't get it out of my head that he was in a coma and they had his eyes taped shut...plus the other kids in this room wasn't going to come home but they didn't... Those children plus my cousin has kept me from going to a doctor for a very long time...My cousin that followed me around plus my Uncle that brought him to see me play lost his battle to cancer on my birthday...it wasn't a great birthday by no means but after we laid him to rest I ask my uncle if I could have my cousin Darrin's baseball glove...he asked me why and my answer back to him was unc I lost a 1st cousin and you lost a son but the only way I could honor him was to pitch with his glove...Well I was going into my 11th grade of highschool baseball...I started using that glove when I knew I was pitching the following day...I asked God to let him still be able to see me play...That year halfway through the season my best friend dad asked me if I read the newspaper...my answer to him was pop iam not that old yet...he said not the local paper but the Arkansas paper...I still replied nope not old enough to worry what was happening in my state... Well I knew I hadn't lost any games yet when I took the hill with my cousin's glove that year...plus I was the third pitcher in rotation on my team that year I had two great pitchers before me...Well he said do you want to read the sports papers...I said sure why not...Well my school was a 4 A school...I looked and started reading i seen the top 100 best 4a pitchers in Arkansas... well my teammate came up and he was the 3rd name I kept reading my second teammate came up and he was the 9th best pitcher with his era...I handed him back the paper he said keep looking well I looked and before my eyes there was my name the 13th best 4A pitcher in the state of Arkansas...I went out back and started hitting a baseball off a tee to keep my hitting average up cause I was a lead off batter most of the time if not second hitter some...so I could keep my average up and my fundamentals up at batting...I remember talking to God and I apologized to him from taking my 14 year cousin away...but what God told me was that they both were with me 100 percent... the very next day it was my turn in rotation I look down and I had his glove on when I noticed a guy behind my catcher with a radar gun...I just thought it was just someone fooling around well I came into the dugout and I heard number 7 I'm a scout for UCA and I would love to meet you with your parents...He told me and my parents that I needed to put on about 20pds of weight and to keep working out...then he asked me son do you know everything about pitching and shortstop...I answered back it's the only positions I've ever played but I can learn more...he said that's what I wanted to hear...he said that's what I was hoping to hear...So young ppl if you have a chance to play college ball with every sport they want to hear that you can learn more...I know what I said was long in this comment but Sir I hope you have peace, strength and love and just a lil faith cause your son and my cousin is with the Father and our Savior Jesus Christ...There is a reason why God does what he does...for example if you ask for patience do you think he will automatically give it to you or put you in a position to learn for patience... Everyone has to meet God halfway when we ask for a blessing, so with my deepest sympathy and from my heart I will pray for you even thou I don't know you personally we are all God's Children...

My story is a little different than Tylers yet similar if that makes sense. Before I turned 18 and fresh out of high school I went to the local Glass factory for work. They said come back when I turned 18. I started on my 18th birthday and aside from a couple years in the army I was there 42 years. I have been playing guitar since about 12 years old and now retired I play open mics and jams across the country as we travel and write songs which are on my you tube channel. Love this song Tyler and many more that you do. Hope the music world treats you good! Burlington Bill busing on the road and here on you tube.

You gotta understand the context. He’s from paintsville, KY, one county over from WV. The people in this area are poor, have very few hero’s to look up to and even less to look forward to. Tyler was famous in Kentucky and West Virginia long before he was known across the world. And when he comes back to this area to play a show, it’s an event, a celebration. It’s means a lot to people here. We’ve been singing his songs for over a decade, we know every word to every song he’s ever made, we know songs he’s never recorded. So it truly means the world for us when he comes back here and plays for us, even though he’s a big star now and can play anywhere he wants.
